Author's Opinion: One of OU's most underrated Pokemon. It has a lot of utility moves, and can act as a Special Wall, despite being weak to Thunderbolt and Earth Power. Maybe it can act a little like both! Do not underestimate this Pokemon.

Tentacruel is one of the few Pokemon that can actually set up Toxic Spikes reliably in OU. Rapid Spin gives you support by getting rid of entry hazards, and Surf, Hydro Pump, and Sludge Bomb act as STAB while Hidden Power Electric acts as a check for Gyarados.
Countering Tentacruel:Empoleon, Vaporeon, Swampert, and all other Bulky Waters makes Tentacruel's effort to sweep in vain. However, take caution with Hidden Power Electric if you are Gyarados and Giga Drain with Swampert.
Salamence and Dragonite Earthquakes it for the OHKO if Tentacruel does not have Ice Beam. Dugtrio can trap and kill. Basically any Pokemon with good Attack and has Earthquake and is not weak to any of its moves can kill it off with it.
Oh, right. It is specially based. That means Blissey and Snorlax can wall it, and so can Latias and Cresselia.
