IC: Skrief Trijhak

Skrief surfaced from the sea he was in. He was in this murky expanse of water mostly because his previous transport had exploded, probably due to an unseen error. At that point, Skrief realised he had no idea where he was. He wondered if the planet even had a name... it did mostly seem to be crumbling ruins of a planet that was still not yet rebuilt. Or at least it did when he decided to land his now broken transport. He wasn't an expert in geography.

OOC: Any planets anyone else is on that could also be the planet Skrief is on?

OOC: the one Clive is on is half-ruins, half civilization.

Kaila grimaced as the man bumped into her, then frowned as she caught him staring at something. She glanced down, then cursed. "Frig it." She grabbed the mans arm tightly, squeezing roughly. "I hope you have short term memory."

Thoron knocked the rifle away, grabbed her arms, and stared into her eyes. "you never saw me" he hissed.

OOC: but of course you will remember me

When Curtis sees the woman grab the man, he sees his opportunity.  Changing his bearing to one of someone in authority, he walks confidently up to the two.  "Good afternoon miss, sir.  Is there anything I can help you with?"  Before either can turn he releases a pair of robotic tracer bugs, which scuttle onto their clothes and grab on securely and inconspicuously.

Thoron spotted the bug and stepped on it before it could get to him. He pushed the girl out of the way, grabbed the rifle off the ground, and fired at the stranger.

Clive dodges the blast Matrix-style and spin-kicks the rifle out of the man's hands.  He begins to go hand-to-hand with the man, being careful to keep the woman out of harm's way.  He talks as he trades blows with the stranger.  "Now, look, stranger, I followed the girl here because she seemed like she'd be a good ally.  I assumed the two of you were working together, you were a package deal, so I was willing to work with you.  If you're determined to tick me off, though, there's always the hard way.  This can be as easy as a business deal or as painful as having to look at that outfit.  Your choice."  An alert from his Power Suit informs Clive of the presence of a warship overhead.  "And you might want to make it fast, since there's a good chance someone else is gonna be shooting at us soon."  He manages to knock the man to the ground for a moment.  He extends his hand to help him up, a friendly gesture in spite of the vicious combat.  "Truce?" he says, glancing back at the woman to let her know she is included in the offer as well.

*stands up on my own*

"those tracking bugs aren't exactly giving me a lot of confidence in you."

[Flipz]

"Standard procedure anytime I meet anyone who could be a threat to me."  Clive pauses.  "That was a compliment, by the way.  I've got a pretty decent spy net set up with those--I've got bugs covering all the important people across three different galaxies, with significant numbers in a fourth.  They don't get much, but they let me know where my allies and enemies are."  Clive notices some civilians watching the commotion.  "But come.  A busy street is no place to discuss business.  Perhaps you could take me someplace quieter to discuss things."  Clive pauses, and looks at the girl.  "And what of you, Lady?  Will you join us, or do you have someplace else to be?  Tell you what, if you ever need me--" Clive tosses her a small, single-channel comm unit "--give Clive Parsons a call."  Clive turns back to the man.  "Lead the way."

*looks around*
"ok, parsons. let's talk. You have an office?"
*we start walking away, and i notice the girl following us at a safe distance.*
*says nothing*

"Sorry about the mess.  I thought the girl was shooting at me."  Clive deliberately leaves the door open wide enough for the woman to listen in if she wanted to.

"When you're a mercenary, you get used to that.  People wanting you dead.  'Course, you also get used to people wanting you to stay alive.  Sometimes at the same time.  Usually for the same reasons."  Clive walks to the bar and pours himself a drink.  It's clearly something imported from off-world.  "You get good, you get jobs.  You get jobs, you get wanted, in more ways than one.  You get my drift?  But sometimes...sometimes you have to just go out and jump into things for your own reasons.  A man needs allies, you see, especially in my line of work.  so when I come across someone who looks like they're particularly skilled, it means they're one of two things: a potential ally, or someone who's out to kill me.  Since you didn't try to throttle me when i dropped my name, I'm guessing you're the former.  And if that's the case, let's drop the 'potential' bit.  Clive Parsons, mercenary.  At your service."  Clive sticks out his hand for the man to shake.

*shakes hand*

"My line of work is normally a little different... but I'll take an any job i can get if it pays well."

"Since you're so popular, maybe you could help shed some light on my situation. I'm trying to find businessman named Marot Veej. Do you know anything about him?"

No one noticed the speeder dissolve into a haze of purple.  Misty Red scanned he surroundings, and wafted away, satisfied that no one had seen her..There is going to be a lot of work to do here, she thought. Sensing the need of her presence elsewhere, she became pure energy and disappeared.

[Flipz]

"Veej...hope he's not a friend of yours.  Word on the street is, someone wants him dead.  Several someones.  Including one Clive W. Parsons."  Clive takes another drink, then continues. "Course, I'm not to fussed about it, considering he'd like to return the favor.  And not that I'd ever do anything about it.  The man gets his greasy mitts on information like no one I've ever seen.  You want any news out here chances are it's come through him.  He's a resource, and one I wouldn't risk getting rid of...well, not without getting some 'resources' in return, if you catch my drift."  Clive pauses, and his expression darkens.  "Of course, lately I've been hearing some fishy rumors about him.  He's keeping his head down, and some say he's started passing out information that's not true, he's stopped checking his sources.  And there were those assasinations three weks ago...chillingly surgical.  He had to have been involved.  Something big is going down, and I'm not sure I want to be here when it does.  If you need to find Veej, I'd advise you to get what you need, then get out fast, because right now he's more dangerous to the folks around him than an unshielded reactor core....Anyway, he's abandoned most of his old haunts, but I happen to know he still wanders by the Grey Goddess cafe about three blocks away once a week, and today is his day.  If you want, I could go along with you as backup--he may hate me, but he knows I'm not after him directly.  He'd be less likely to bolt."  Clive checks the chrono on the wall.  "But we'd better hurry.  He's usually gone by sundown, and it's getting late."  Clive leads the way out of the office, and sees that the woman was indeed listening at the door.  "You can stay here if you'd like, but the droid will be done clearing it out in an hour.  If you follow him to my ship, he'll make sure you're alright."  He gestures to the man.  "After you, Mr..."

OOC: got to get off now.  Clive will provide backup until I get back.

"Thoron. That's what everyone calls me."

"Clive, I can tell you're trustworthy, so I'll be even with you. I'm being paid to kill him."
Clive: "....is that so? "
Me: "8000 bars of adamantium laced beskar. 20 times the normal rate."

OOC: half-ruins, half civilization? Could work.

IC:

Skrief walked onto land, only to express his dismay that the crumbling ruins he was searching for were on the other side of the sea he had just surfaced from. Then he sat down, and wondered how he would even get off the planet without destroying its ruins.

In the form of a dragon fly, Misty Red hovered over the tall grass, and watched the young humaniod emerge from the depths of the water. With the powers of the empath she inherited from her mother she sensed the turmoil with him, and wondered what impact he would have on tableau unfolding nearby.. She decided to keep her eye on him for a while, and resumed the form of pure energy so she could better evaluate her findings.

OOC: there are 3 continents, first is the northern polar ice cap, second is filled with radioactive ruins, and third has normal-for-the-game civilization.  We're all either in orbit or on continent #3.

OOC: well, the ice cap and the ruins together make up half the landmasses on the planet, civilization the other half, so.......
