Title: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on June 29, 2009, 08:20:31 pm OK, both of the older Zelda topics have died, so... this is the new one.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on June 30, 2009, 06:51:26 am 0___o These LoZ topics seem to die more than my Megaman topics... 0_o
Anyway, any news on either of the LoZ games? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on July 02, 2009, 10:29:40 am not much.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on July 11, 2009, 10:55:36 pm I hear the new one for Wii will use Motionplus.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on July 12, 2009, 03:15:41 pm that is correct.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: guitaralex on July 19, 2009, 04:30:49 pm I finally completed The Legend Of Zelda:Twilight Princess
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 06, 2009, 12:43:30 pm Hm...you know, I've nevr played a Zelda game, but I think I'll go for Spirit Tracks this year.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: guitaralex on August 06, 2009, 04:21:42 pm Twillight princess is really long and difficult
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Solo Rogue on August 18, 2009, 05:18:18 pm I know no-one will believe me, but...
You know that guy you have to hit many times in PH? I hit him 999 times, and I don't think I got hit, only when I was trying to take a pic. Which was foiled by the flash/backlight. >_> When's Spirit Tracks come out? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 07:35:33 pm 1. You've got Phantom Hourglass, correct? Go to the Adventurer's ship in the Northwest Sea, and if you've completed the first parts of his tasks, you'll get what I'm talking about... But it was pretty tough, though one you get his pattern down, he's kinda easy. I wouldn't have down this without touch control though...
2. Sweet, that's for NA as well, right? Like, not just Japan?(Too used to long waits, ala Star Force and Pokemon. =P) If so, depending on what day, I may try to ask for it for my Birthday or such. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 07:36:21 pm Yeah. I look forward to that game :)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 07:40:53 pm Any new stuff about it, BTW? Like any new story details/screenshots? Does it still look somewhat like PH?(In fact, a few of the things I saw in that vid looks like a kinda clone of the engines of PH, like the boat being the same as the train...)
Rahkshi: 1. Yep, that's him. Got 999 on him. =) 2. Sweet =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 07:41:53 pm I wonder what's up with the new Wii Zelda Games...
Off Topic:I need to stip thinking about the PMP... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 07:44:55 pm ... Games...? There's more than one? Interesting. Speaking of which, any new stuff about that?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 07:46:35 pm Oh, sorry, only one game. Typo =/
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 07:47:32 pm It's okay, it happens. But seriously, any new info on either of the two games?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 07:50:33 pm Not much...but if you google Legend of Zelda, you might find something.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 07:53:28 pm Oh, okay then. What are the details we know of currently about the story of Spirit Tracks? Anything? Like, is it still the Link of Wind Waker, or is it like Minish Cap, set in the past, due to Zelda being there?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 07:54:37 pm ...?
I've never played Zelda before. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 07:58:05 pm 0_o ... Wait, is this going to be your first game in this series?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 07:59:37 pm Yup. I've never had much interest in Zelda until now.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 08:03:53 pm Ah, I see. Go try and get Phantom Hourglass so you have a basic idea how to play, as I think it runs off the same engine and such.(... Why'd it take so long for this new game? The engines seems near same... Then again, I haven't checked up on it recently and it could be more different than it seemed. Plus, it could be like the cutscenes and gameplay and such... And new models that haven't been made...)
Oh yes, I wonder if what's his name actually did stay? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 20, 2009, 08:05:43 pm Can't. I'm saving money for Scribblenauts and M&L:Inside Story...
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 08:10:30 pm Do you have anywhere you could rent it?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 20, 2009, 08:35:33 pm Yeah, but if you remember the end of Phantom Hourglass, couldn't that happen again?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on August 20, 2009, 08:40:28 pm First thing we need to to know is what Nintendo consoles you have, I've played them all, more than once. If you're just starting out with Zelda (and I highly recomend it as the best video game of all time), start with The Windwaker on Gamecube, that'll hook you, then go directly to Twilight Princess, from there get the four swords, it's a nostalgic look into the past with a twist. Zelda has many faces and masks aswell, and most can be played on the Cube. CAUTION: HIGHLY ADDICTIVE
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on August 21, 2009, 01:17:01 pm my top three Zelda's are: Twilight Princess, Majora's Mask, Ocarina Of Time.
Quote from: Skull Kid/Majora Well, whatever. Even if they did come, they wouldn't be able to stop me now. Just look up above you! If it's something that can be stopped, the just try to stop it! Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 26, 2009, 07:10:14 pm ...you remember video games a little too well, herochild. =P
I wonder if Spirit Tracks is going to be too similar to Phantom Hourglass. If that's the other DS cartoon game. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on August 26, 2009, 11:52:40 pm I remember everything a little too well. I just have a good memory, I guess.
Quote from: Ganondorf Your people have long amused me, Midna. To defy the Gods with such petty magic, only to be cast aside... how very pathetic. Still, they served me. Their anguish was my nourishment. Their hatred bled across the void and awakened me. I drew deep of it, and grew strong again. Ganon is so much more powerful and evil in TP than in other Zeldas...Your people had some skill, to be sure, but they lacked true power. The kind of absolute power that those chosen by the Gods wield. Such a man would make a fitting king for this world, don't you think? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 27, 2009, 11:56:09 am Ok. I have a pretty good memory too, but I can't remember things more than 3 years ago. I haven't played many old games in a while. I actually kinda want to play PM:TTYD today.
so on a scale of 1-10, how good was Twilight Princess? Because Spirit Tracks looks similar to it. EDIT-whoa, I thought I was posting in the Super Mario topic. Making post moree on-topic... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 27, 2009, 11:58:44 am I can remember certain stuff from around 10 years ago...
Yeah? Hmm, wish I had've played that... But this isn't about memories or Paper Mario, is it? And Spirit Tracks seems close to PH, but it'll have a whole new plot and such... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on August 28, 2009, 10:31:08 am so on a scale of 1-10, how good was Twilight Princess? Because Spirit Tracks looks similar to it. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 28, 2009, 10:32:27 am Spirit Tracks is not anywhere near close to Twilight Princess... It's close to Phantom Hourglass. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 28, 2009, 10:33:56 am Oh. I can't keep track of the games cuz I never followed the series.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 28, 2009, 10:36:23 am It's okay. ;) We're still not fully sure of the Timeline of the games, so don't expect to understand that one right yet. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: 0PureChaos0 on September 01, 2009, 08:06:31 pm Incase you havn't known, The next Legend of Zelda's concept art has been revealed by Nintendo.
http://www.zentendo.com/media/albums/userpics/10008/normal_Wii_Zelda_e3.jpg Sadly, this is the only known thing I know about the next game.... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on September 01, 2009, 08:11:31 pm Seen it. =P
Although, in an interview in Nintendo Power, Shigeru Miyamato (or whatever his name is) said just pay attention that Link is only carrying a shield...but no weapon. *points at mysterious magic person* Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: 0PureChaos0 on September 01, 2009, 08:14:54 pm People have suggusted that the person is the Master sword's spirit, ghost, etc.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: 0PureChaos0 on September 01, 2009, 08:33:54 pm That's.... kinda..... creepy, but yea, she does. That was also another suggestion from people.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on September 02, 2009, 07:58:18 pm I don't think she's a fairy... but what she IS, I don't know. as long as the game still feels like a Zelda, I'll be happy.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on September 02, 2009, 08:00:19 pm Transforming into sword anyone? =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on October 01, 2009, 03:05:46 pm Does anyone know which Goddess is which? I know Din is Power, but I keep getting Nayru and Farore mixed up. which one is Wisdom and which one is Courage?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on October 03, 2009, 10:07:13 am Nayru=Wisdom, Farore=Courage. You can tell by the colours, because Farore's Green, and Nayru's Blue, or at least in OoT. Those colours match the colours for the different Power, Wisdom, Courage stuff, like the spiritual stones and such, with green being Courage(The Spiritual Stone of the Forest), red being Power(Spiritual Stone of the Mountains), and blue being Wisdom(Spiritual Stone of the Water).
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 01, 2009, 12:30:28 am I just got Freshly Picked Tingles Rosy Rupeeland! It's a Zelda Spin-off that was released only in Europe and Asia, never in the US. I got a European version, and it works fine on my DSi! It's quite fun, I don't know why Nintendo never released a US version.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 01, 2009, 01:41:46 am I would love to hear more about that spin-off buddy...
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 05, 2009, 07:31:17 pm well, it's a little hard to describe, but basically, the story is: Tingle (though that's not his name yet) is sitting in his house, when a voice tells him that if he throws lots of Rupees into the pond near his house, he will be allowed to go to a paradise called RUPEELAND. The whole game revolves around Rupees: you need them to enter dungeons, to buy items, to win the game, even just to chat! plus, if you run out of Rupees, you die!
You even defeat {Final Boss} by shooting him with Rupees! The game has all the typical Zelda stuff (Dungeons, a big overworld, etc), but it also has some new things (bodyguards, the ability to cook, and the method of battling.) The battles are especially different: Tingle fights on his own in a cartoony smoke cloud, and your only interaction is tapping the cloud to speed up the battle. The game also lets you collect things called Rupee Goods, and if you collect them all, you get to see a different ending! Quote from: Uncle Rupee In RUPEELAND, you will eat only the finest food. Work? Study? In RUPEELAND those words mean nothing! Beautiful women await you in RUPEELAND! So tell me: does RUPEELAND sound like a place you want to go? That quote basically describes Tingle's motivation. :PTitle: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on November 27, 2009, 08:13:50 pm *sort of revives topic*
Well, I read about Spirit Tracks in Nintendo Power, and apparently it ROCKs. :P Also, that ghost...thingy is Zelda's spirit seperated from her body. And she can control Phantoms =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 27, 2009, 08:16:12 pm sounds cool! I can't wait for it to come out...
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 10:30:50 am Gah, I forgot to mention that. I read a couple days ago on another site about Zelda and the Phantom.
December 5th or so, correct? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 28, 2009, 10:36:45 am Is it game cube compatible, or will I need the Wii?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 10:39:53 am And the Gamecube's essentially dead, so any future Zelda console games will likely be Wii only.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 28, 2009, 10:41:05 am Are we talking about the same thing, I read phantom and dec 5th?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 10:42:41 am Yeah. Spirit Tracks is the game we were talking about. Spirit Tracks is the sequel to Phantom Hourglass, apparently taking place around 300 or so years after PH. Zelda can possess things named after the Phantoms of PH. It's for the DS/DSi, and I'm pretty sure it comes out on December 5th or so.
The new Zelda Console game is 99% likely to be Wii only(TP was Gamecube because it was released right when the Wii was), and will be released either in 2010 or so, though after seeing all the delays TP got... =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 28, 2009, 10:44:42 am And the Gamecube's essentially dead, so any future Zelda console games will likely be Wii only. True enough, but the cube will never be destroyed, as long I exist and endevour to assimilate, just like Two... ::)Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 10:46:48 am -_- It's already been phased out. I haven't heard of any new games, and since that dictates if a console's alive or dead... The Gamecube's seen it's days. The Wii is the future.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Jade on November 28, 2009, 10:48:12 am Its coming out on Dec. 7th ;)
GameSpot had an interesting article on it, and it seems to be a cool looking game. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 10:49:42 am Ah, I was so close. xP
Apparently it's got the exact same control system as PH, so that's good... I liked that control scheme. =) Interesting new special weapons too... And I think I heard that free roaming with the train is out. =/ Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Jade on November 28, 2009, 11:00:58 am Array is strange looking too.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 28, 2009, 11:03:14 am The primary antagonist of Spirit Tracks (Malladus aka The Demon King) is the strangest enemy I have ever seen... Gotta break the rules here, sorry for quoting the last post, where did you get that image from Rahk? Can't be from Zelda.(http://zeldawiki.org/images/thumb/a/af/Demon_King_Train.png/260px-Demon_King_Train.png) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 28, 2009, 11:25:28 am Thanks alot eh :)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 01:41:53 pm I'd assume it's from Spirit Tracks...
Who's Malladus and who's Array? ._. *Will probably find out in a couple of months or so* Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 01:55:32 pm I'm most excited about Zelda Wii, personally. and has anyone read the Tetraforce theory? http://www.zeldawiki.org/Tetraforce
and if anyone is interested in joining my Zelda RPG, here's a link: http://rpgm.smfforfree.com/index.php/topic,177.0.html . you'll need an account on RPGM first though. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 04:57:33 pm The release date for Spirit TRacks is all over the place... Jade says the 7th, one store says the 6th, another says the 9th... If we had the 8th we'd have a streak. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 28, 2009, 05:58:48 pm Fine then, the 8th it is, guess it depends on where you live and the source of the trip
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on November 28, 2009, 06:56:20 pm Thanks alot eh :) Don't spam please. ;)So...if I were to get a Zelda on Virtual Console, which would you reccomend? (directed at herochild) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 06:57:29 pm Ocarina of Time. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:02:44 pm Thanks alot eh :) Don't spam please. ;)So...if I were to get a Zelda on Virtual Console, which would you reccomend? (directed at herochild) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 07:04:25 pm =O Majora's Mask is a VC game? (Must get a Wii =O) Now I've got two games to get when I get a Wii... Majora's Mask and OoT. And Twilight Princess of course, but that just goes without saying. ::)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:08:36 pm yup. MM came out about 5 months ago for VC. and the revamped graphics are amazing. plus, HD and Wide screen compatibility, but none of the glitches from the GCN version!
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 07:09:58 pm =O Revamped Graphics? Sweeeeeeet.
... Wait, no glitches? D= Does this mean none of the glitches from the original N64 version, like I think FDL ahead of time? =/ Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:12:47 pm well, the "Stop the moon and unlock day 4" glitch is still there, as is the "ride Epona in Clock Town" glitch and the "Play as Fierce Deity anywhere after earning the mask" glitch, but no other glitches!
and yes, revamped graphics. the game looks as if someone ran it through a washing machine, the graphics are so clean! Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 07:22:58 pm Sweet.
... Wait, 'Stop the moon and unlock Day 4'? Never heard of that one... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:27:03 pm Well, you need to be looking through the telescope when the moon falls. there's a five millisecond delay between time running out and the moon falling. during those five milliseconds, you need to hit "B" to exit the telescope. the moon will go so high in the sky you can barely see it! (literally. look through the telescope after doing this trick. the moon is tiny!)
However, your menu glitches. to fix it, just dance with the Scarerow. that way, you can explore Day 4 with a working menu. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 07:33:50 pm Huh, that's pretty interesting.
How do you earn the FDL mask anyway? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:36:08 pm you need every single mask. then talk to the kids running around Majora. (inside the Moon)
they'll tell you to give them your masks, play a game, and give them more masks. once you've given away all your masks, Majora will give you the Fierce Deity Mask. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 07:40:15 pm Wait, so you need to give away all your masks? =/
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:41:15 pm you get them back if you sit through the credit roll. plus you get to keep the FDL mask! and you get to keep Goron, Deku, and Zora. the kids don't want them.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 07:45:22 pm =O That's pretty handy. =D Is it because you can save?(Like in OoT when you're facing the final Boss)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 07:46:24 pm nope. it autosaves when the credits finish rolling and Saria's Song plays. best of all, the speech between Skull Kid and Tatl right before the fight is totally different!
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 08:06:08 pm Really? How so?
And sweet, it never auto-saved in OoT... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 08:10:40 pm it's hard to explain. but Tatl says totally different things.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 08:14:16 pm *Goes to find the script* =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 08:22:37 pm lol. no, the difference in speech is obvious, trust me,
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 28, 2009, 08:31:51 pm You keep forgetting, I don't have the game. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 28, 2009, 08:38:35 pm I mean once you get the game.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on November 29, 2009, 05:02:53 am As twilight falls in a land called Hyrule, a young man is walking in the woods, he's garbed in green and thinking there is someone here.
As he walks the skies turn dark and a proud but defeated princess appears before him, she speaks of a dark place where only the wild can tame Garbed in purple and black she speaks, "hello young man, would you like to come with me?" The surprised Link steps back and says "Woot, I'm in". A dark portal opens, Link becomes the wild one, the hero in a wolf's clothing, transformed for the better, the two then set out on a journey to save the world from an evil as yet undescribed nor found, as yet... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2009, 11:32:05 am Ooh, Midna and Link, correct? Twilight Princess?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 29, 2009, 12:54:00 pm @legodac: not really sure why you said that, but I do recognize that.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2009, 05:34:35 pm Who's attempted to play real world songs on their Ocarina? =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on November 30, 2009, 06:05:56 pm I have! I tried the Star Wars theme, I believe.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2009, 06:08:36 pm I've tried it before I believe, but it's been a while, so I'm not that sure.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Tom on December 06, 2009, 05:16:03 pm Spirit Tracks comes out tomorrow! o: Anyone getting it launch day or just waiting til Christmas?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 05:22:42 pm Definitely not launch day(And besides I seem to have bad luck in that manner), but hopefully not long after that.
And to get my Zelda interest back up, I've been going for 100% completion lately. And yesterday I beat LttP with 100% completion... And that emant it only took me two days. =P It'll take way longer to beat Ocarina of Time though, since that has all those pesky Skulltulas. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 05:26:40 pm Cool. I'll have 100% on TP as soon as I find the last Poe. (I've been looking for months... =P)
And I have 100% on LttP too. I even beat the Temple Of The Four Sword. And I'm going for 100% to OoT (Need more Heart Pieces) and MM (Need more Heart Pieces there too.) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 05:29:48 pm Give me about a week and I'll finish OoT 100%. One of the things that slowed me down was that I had to restart because I missed the Deku Stick upgrade, and since I'm going for 100%... That's not good. =P
And I'm playing the old school version of LttP, so I don't have no 'Temple of the Four Swords'. What's it like though? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 05:34:56 pm Really cool here's a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vw2b_ejXKw&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Ug-_T_TTg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3S57pl-nKU&f http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRVwpCnGLQc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbgoFiD9CQg EDIT: It's a two part. 'Nother EDIT: BTW, the final boss (the four evil Links) aren't in these videos. FINAL EDIT: I found the final videos. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 06:04:48 pm Looks cool. I hear they use the Kid Link voices in this. What's the extra ending anyway in LttP GBA?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 06:08:15 pm
well, since the Boss of the Palace of the Four Sword is Evil Link, and by beating Evil Link you kind of kill yourself, the secret ending is the bad guys celebrating!
EDIT: The spoiler tags didn't work. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 06:10:32 pm xD ... Wait, you're serious? 0_o That's just weird. Besides, if you destroy yourself, then the rest of Ocarina of Time from the middle of the Water Temple onward is non canon. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 06:12:32 pm No, it's not a Mirror Link like in OoT, the Four Sword splits four evil Links out of you.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 06:17:42 pm Well then, that doesn't make much sense timeline wise if Link's killed. So, that either means that part's noncanon, Link didn't actually die(Look at the fact that he's still holding his sword up at the end of obliterating the four Links at the end of those videos), or either of these: He either barely survived, or he never actually fully destroyed the Dark Links, instead they disappeared to elsewhere. And the name for the Link you fight in OoT is Dark Link, last I checked. Otherwise, it wouldn't be on the Dark Link page on the Zelda Wiki(the one that was posted with the Tetraforce theory) ;)
Besides; since you need to be a descendant of the Hylian Knights to wield the Master Sword('least as of LttP), that would wreck the timeline, as TP Link has to get it, and he wouldn't be a descendant... See the problem here? ;) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 06:21:35 pm 1: there are LOTS of different Links, and 2: Mr Miyamoto has said that none of the Links are related to each other. 3: He kind of vanishes after beating the Dark Links. and 4: there are different types of Dark Links. the ones made by the Four Sword, the ones that are used in TP to explain the story of the Fused Shadow, and the one in OoT.
or, 5: yeah, it could be noncanon. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 06:26:23 pm 1. Yes, but some of them are the same. Isn't it possible that LttP Link is the one in one of the other earlier games?
2. You sure? I never heard that one... 3. He vanishes partly because it goes right into the second ending, correct? =P Plus, beforehand, the Four Swords circle around Link and seem to go into him. Why would they do that if he was going to die the next moment? =P 4. Well, yeah, I heard about the fused shadows DLs, but I think the OoT kind is similar. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 06:29:51 pm 1: some are the same, yeah.
2: he said it in an interview with Nintendo Power. 3: it never actually shows what's happening. all I know is that the credits make it look as if the monsters are celebrating. 4: maybe. I'm not really sure. EDIT: I found and added some more videos. now the whole Palace of the Four Sword is here. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 06:40:54 pm 2. Hmm. Well some of them have to be related technically, unless they retconned the Hylian Knight thing from LttP.
3. Hmm... But isn't this at the point when they're all supposed to be defeated? =P 4. Also, the Adventure of Link Dark Link. ;) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 06:44:10 pm 2: I guess.
3: nah, there are always more monsters. 4: I'm terrible at that game. I'm stuck on level 3. 5: what do you think of the other three videos? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 06, 2009, 07:24:29 pm 2. Plus, apparently in The Wind Waker, Ganondorf refers to Link as a reincarnation of the Hero of Time... Even though he's not directly a descendant because of the fact that, well... there wasn't officially a Link in that timeline by the time the game was all said and done. ;)
3. I don't think that the ending actually represents them celebratin Link's defeat still. 4. =P 5. They're included in the first comment, since I watched all five. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 06, 2009, 07:34:22 pm 4: well, who knows?
5: ah. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 23, 2009, 04:42:50 pm Just finished up Spirit Tracks. I am officially a Zelda fan now. =D
*needs to get every Zelda game available on Wii Shop Channel ASAP* *also needs to get an SD Card* =P It was pretty awesome to [spoilers ahead] (since the Spoiler Tags don't work) Fight the Demon Train, then Cole using puppet strings on Zelda in Phantom Form, the Malladus after he posseses Cole. He wasn't really that hard, honestly. And MAN, that Bow of Light is epic. =D My favorite boss was probably that giant Lava Monster in the Fire Realm. I can't remember his name, but that guy is AWESOME. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 26, 2009, 06:15:48 pm I'm in the Temple Of Sand right now.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 26, 2009, 06:25:58 pm I'm beating you guys... I don't even have the game yet! =P
I got up to dungeon 6 of the original Legend of Zelda though. ^^ Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: red on December 30, 2009, 02:51:37 am just jumping in this topic now lol
I have beaten Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Minish Cap, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess. I dont have a DS so I cant really play any of those. Ocarina seems to be the best by far without any comparison. TP was k, till the second half of the game, where it got kinda lame quickly (game also lacked cool sidequests). Majoras mask I think had the potential to be uber, if they didnt have the time limit (even tho that deters from the story), anywho im a big fan. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Legodac on December 30, 2009, 03:31:55 am Oh I disagree, twilight princess is very cool, but I think my fave will always be windwaker, I can play that again and again
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 30, 2009, 10:26:32 am I've heard the sailing funcction in Wind Waker was really boring. Or at least, slow and repetitive. =P
Ocarina of Time, I'm going to try out ASAP. I might be able to get some more Nintendo Points, so you know what I'm going for first. =P Then I'll probably try Majora's Mask, the original, and Link's Awakening. Yeah, I've gone Zelda-crazy. I don't really feel like going for Phantom Hourglass, cuz I'm guessing Spirit Tracks is a more polished version of it. Twilight Princess...with me getting the Metroid Prime Trilogy, I think that's the last Teen game I'll be getting for a while. =P I will, however, try to get Legend of Zelda Wii 2 when it comes out. Motionplus+Wii Sports Resort Swordplay and Archery+Zelda=Epic win. =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 10:32:58 am Fawful: The T rating's for no good reason IMO from what I've heard, except maybe because the graphics are higher def. ::)
I must agree that OoT is epic awesome though, and I'm a little disappointed that there's no uber sword sidequest in TP, but... Maybe there's at least a powerup system for Zelda Wii. We'll have to wait for next E3 though probably. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 30, 2009, 10:40:12 am Meh. It isn't that far away. But don't worry, HG/SS, Metroid Prime 4 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 should keep us busy until then. =P
Say, did Link's Crossbow Training count as a game in the Zelda series? Cuz you rarely hear/read about it. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 10:42:57 am It's non-canon last I heard. ;) Which makes sense, because it's essentially TP revisited with only a Bow, and that doesn't make sense storyline wise.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 30, 2009, 11:56:08 am Graaaah >_< Just found out Link's Awakening isn't on Virtual Console. Oh well. I s'pose the original, MM and OoT will keep me busy for a while. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 12:07:57 pm Link's Awakening is a handheld game. =P Is The Adventure of link on there though?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 30, 2009, 12:15:31 pm ...err...I knew that. =P
But there's a lot of handhelds on Virtual Console. Yes, they have the Adventure of Link. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 12:20:01 pm Sweet. Even though it's totally different from normal games, you should try that.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 30, 2009, 01:48:15 pm ...too late. =P
W00t I have MM, OoT and LoZ now. =D (And Super Mario Bros. 3, but that's unrelated) So...which should I try first...*goes to play MM* Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 01:49:15 pm OoT, OoT, OoT... =P
Or LoZ, but that's my nostalgia side talking from the other day. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on December 30, 2009, 02:25:18 pm Wait, so is it OoT or MM that we're all trying to complete 100% in the shortest amount of time? =P I can't remember. It was being discussed here and in the GD topic...
I just thought MM would be a good start, even though it's the sequel to OoT. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 02:27:50 pm Fawful: That was Link to the Past or OoT. I completed it in four-5 days(Non consecutive), but I could have done it faster if I had've had more time. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: red on December 30, 2009, 02:35:13 pm I've heard the sailing funcction in Wind Waker was really boring. Or at least, slow and repetitive. =P yep there was way too much sailing in that game, I think that part gets annoying fast.Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 02:37:32 pm I personally think they refined it in PH, but I never played WW outside of a demo that I couldn't actually play once. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Host on December 30, 2009, 08:25:27 pm Has anyone played Spirit Tracks? I got it at Christmas, and I won't post plot spoilers, but as for the train function, it is more restricted than the boat in PH but more fun than the boat. I haven't beat the game yet, but if I'm where I think I am in the game then it's relatively short for main plotline.
But a good game with some good new weapons and such. Graphics are extremely similar/same as PH, but gameplay has been improved in some areas. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 30, 2009, 08:28:02 pm Yeah, I finished Spirit Tracks yesterday. to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed...it felt like they rushed it in order to be ready by Christmas.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 08:28:33 pm It is short. Only 5 dungeons(From what I've read)? =/ But hey, it's a handheld game.
I don't have it yet though, but I really want it. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 30, 2009, 08:30:06 pm 7 dungeons. or is it 6?....
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Host on December 30, 2009, 08:32:22 pm Pretty easy game for the most part, and the train is way better than the boat IMO. Controlling some parts are not great though. In PH you could control a Goron with your stylus, and I'm not sure why they made you trace lines to control one person specifically. It is nice that they brought back main(well, kinda main) characters of PH into ST, but with differnt roles. The item system for collectable items is better too.
@HC: It depends on how you look at it. I would say 5 dungeons, although I haven't beat the game, but you could also call it 8 depending on how you look at one of the dungeons. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 30, 2009, 08:34:43 pm the dungeons I can remember are: Forest, Ice, Ocean, Fire, Sand, and Spirit. (Spirit is the main dungeon, like the Temple Of The Ocean King was in PH)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 08:35:11 pm Well, 6 with the Spirit Tower I think. But I'm going off what I've heard, so I could be wrong.
R8: Who's Niko? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Host on December 30, 2009, 08:36:02 pm Niko was there, as well as the guy who switched boat parts in PH and another guy from the boat in PH.
Never played Wind Waker... what system is it for? @Blade: Niko is some guy who was also in PH... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 30, 2009, 08:36:20 pm Niko one of Tetra's pirates in WW, and he somehow survived more than 100 years.
I liked seeing Linebeck again. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 08:37:26 pm Ah, now I know who you're talking about. The one who was using those pictures, right? =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 30, 2009, 08:38:02 pm yeah.
actually, it's not Linebeck...it's Linebeck III, but still... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 30, 2009, 08:39:59 pm He's Linebeck, no matter his name. ::)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 30, 2009, 08:42:40 pm that's for sure.
Quote from: Linebeck III Quote from: Bridge Repairman Well Linebeck, add my fee for this to my fee for your house...and your roof...it'll be 5000 rupees well, this young man has offered to pay for it!Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 31, 2009, 10:07:50 am That quote shows just how much he's similar. =P
Does he shake Link in the game though? =P Can't have Linebeck without the occasional shaking of Link. ::) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 31, 2009, 04:48:04 pm sadly, no. :'(
no teasing of Link's partner either. :'( (though he can't exactly see Zelda, can he?) he does refer to Link as his little moneymaker though, so he's definitely Linebeck! Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 31, 2009, 04:49:40 pm Yep. That's definitely Linebeck. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on December 31, 2009, 10:03:05 pm He even has the same soundtrack! listen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZv2kb91iwE&feature=PlayList&p=01153AF176B601D3&index=49 (no video, just music) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: red on January 06, 2010, 11:11:30 pm I love the zelda soundtrack, especially the Gerudo Valley song.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 07, 2010, 09:17:48 am I love pretty much any music that Nintendo makes. =P Gotta love the Metroid Main Theme. =P
So...I'll probably make a second attempt at completing OoT once I beat it. Metroid Prime Trilogy and Punch-Out!! are killing me >__> Good games though. I could probably get a pretty good time in OoT if I finished off those two. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 12:24:27 pm Anyone ready for Zelda Wii? Apparently we're less than 365 days away from a new Zelda console game.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 07, 2010, 12:46:58 pm Say whaaat? Where'd you hear th-oh right, it was going to be released this year anyway. =P But yeah, I'm ready. Online Motionplus Multiplayer would be the icing on the cake of AWESOME. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 12:53:00 pm Zelda Wiki. It has a quote from what's his name that begins with an A. Aonuma or such? I forget the spelling. >>;
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on January 07, 2010, 12:58:02 pm Eiji Aonuma.
I can't wait. but I had a nightmare about it a few nights ago, that it only had two levels and was intended for 4 and under. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 01:00:10 pm That's it. =)
Not a chance of that happening. =P Especially with the realistic style making a return. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on January 07, 2010, 01:02:52 pm I often daydream about making a Zelda game... I actually have plans for over 30 different games. =P
I wonder if that's what it's like for the people that actually make the games? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 01:04:55 pm It likely is. It'd be cool to make a game.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on January 07, 2010, 01:06:55 pm I have ideas for
it would be especially cool to have puzzles that require her wings... but Zelda games will never have another main character, will they. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 07, 2010, 01:09:41 pm I daydream about making a Star Fox ripoff all the time. =P Hey, the concept is good, the games just...aren't.
And if they really did daydream like that, that would explain why Shigeru Miyamoto made a game about a man rescuing his girlfriend from an ape. =P And it would DEFINATELY explain Metroid. =P Anyway...I do wonder if Zelda Wii 2'll use some Online play. If they could improve Wii Sports Resort Swordplay, and make it online multiplayer...=D I'm completely honest when I say I believe Zelda Wii could be the best game of all time. *Ocarina of Time glares at me* @Hero-If I ever here that idea while working at Nintendo of America headquarters, I'll come find you. Look for the large, tall guy who's humming the SSBB main theme. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 01:10:26 pm Argh. 0-o You want more non-Link spin-offs? Weren't the Games-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named enough? D=
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on January 07, 2010, 01:12:41 pm Argh. 0-o You want more non-Link spin-offs? Weren't the Games-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named enough? D= I'd do my best to avoid making games like those....you-know-whats.For those who don't know what, it's called a CDi. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 01:17:36 pm Yeah. That's an example of what not to do with games. Other examples include that new Megaman cell phone game, the Megaman PC games, and probably more. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 07, 2010, 01:21:00 pm @Herochild-
*GAAAASP* The other console is not to be mentioned by name. EVEN IN TINY TEXT. That system is CURSED. It is banned from even a mere mention. AS MODERATOR OF THIS BOARD, I BANISH YOU TO THE NETHERLAND OF "OTHER" GAMES. That means the place where you can only play Xboxes and *shudders* Playstation 3s. And of course, exiled Nintendo-related games and media. For example, the only movie you're allowed to watch is the Ma-*covers mouth* But hey, not ALL Zelda spin-offs are bad. *points at Tingle's Rupee-whatever thingy* 'course, it does feature Tingle...*banishes game* [/partiallyjokingpost] I've been playing Majora's Mask, and although it definately isn't as good as some other games, it's pretty well-done when it comes to plot and graphics. And action. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 01:22:52 pm Hey, I heard that. D=< =P
Fawful: Have you completed everything on the Bomber's Notebook yet? If so, you haven't beaten the game. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on January 07, 2010, 01:25:44 pm To be honest, I probably couldn't make a game that bad if I tried. no one could.
honestly, who thought Quote All toasters toast toast and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imlyVV0yYKo&feature=player_embedded#at=66 would be good ideas? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 07, 2010, 01:31:43 pm @Herochild-

Not beating. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 07, 2010, 01:34:44 pm Twi: That's why it's not as good; your true goal is to complete everything. =P
Game: *Eyetwitches* ... That obviously was based off the cartoon. And it's Gah Non, not Gannon. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: The Truth on January 07, 2010, 01:46:30 pm @Fawful: the final bosses of all three Zelda CDi games died after one hit.
and Majora's Mask is just another game until you look really far into it. that includes completing the Bombers Notebook and getting the Fierce Deity Mask. (WARNING: the Anju and Kafei mini quest can cause extreme frustration, but it feels great to complete it.) you also need to "read between the lines" at times, especially at the Stone Tower. If you look really closely at parts of the Stone Tower, you might start to figure out why Ikana is cursed. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 21, 2010, 08:21:07 am ...er...who's Ikana? =P
Well, I got to those witches that guard the Spirit Temple. I'm gonna try to beat the later. And on an unrelated note-woo Zelda has it's own board now. =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 21, 2010, 10:51:16 am Ikana's the region. South, or east, I forget. We mean Majora's Mask. ;)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda Post by: red on January 21, 2010, 11:45:12 pm @Fawful: the final bosses of all three Zelda CDi games died after one hit. Majora's Mask was one of my favorite games for sidequests. Getting all the masks, trading the title deeds, bombers notebook. It got pretty extensive in that game. Although no sidequest compares to the biggoran sword (however you spell it)and Majora's Mask is just another game until you look really far into it. that includes completing the Bombers Notebook and getting the Fierce Deity Mask. (WARNING: the Anju and Kafei mini quest can cause extreme frustration, but it feels great to complete it.) you also need to "read between the lines" at times, especially at the Stone Tower. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 22, 2010, 11:07:19 am Red: The Biggoron's Sword... I had to go through that twice while I was trying to complete OoT. I had to restart the game after I got it. xD
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 22, 2010, 11:21:59 am @Blade-that must have sucked. =P
Well, all that's left for me in OoT is the Fire Room, and when I destroy that barrier...>=D 'course, I thought I would go back and get Biggoron's Sword, Ice Arrows and the Big Quiver first. =P So it'll probably be a day or so until I challenge EPICdorf. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 22, 2010, 11:30:23 am Yeah, especially because it was because of a glitch(The upgrade with the Mask of Truth in the Forest Stage thing in the Lost Woods. Can't be obtained after you get the Master Sword. D=).
ASDF the Horseback Riding Quiver. Now that was annoyance in it's purest form. >_< You already get the light barrier taken out? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on January 22, 2010, 01:06:46 pm That reminds me....I haven't played Master Quest lately.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 22, 2010, 01:30:32 pm @Blade-I can't yet, I still need to do the Fire Room becuase in the Shadow Room a Like-like ate my Fire Tunic and spat me off the edge. >___< I might just skip the Big Quiver though. and do I really need the Ice Arrows? For anything other than completion purposes?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 22, 2010, 01:36:41 pm Twi: You can do the Light room before the Fire room... Just toss that block out of the way. =P
And no, you don't need either except for 100% actually. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on January 22, 2010, 02:53:51 pm I kinda hope Zelda Wii has a Second Quest. I doubt it will though.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 22, 2010, 06:59:10 pm I'd be happy with just an epic regular quest. And based on those new 2Chan Rumors...=D
Wait, do "rumors" count as leaked content? And...woo I have the Biggoron's Sword =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 22, 2010, 07:13:05 pm Technically leaked stuff is only prohibited if it's related to LEGO stuff.
And I doubt some of them for some reason, if what I've heard is them. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 22, 2010, 07:22:01 pm Right now I'm runnin' up the stairs...got the boss key...organ is getting louder...=DDD

Organ is very loud. =DDD Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on January 22, 2010, 07:23:51 pm Jump slash, backflip, jump slash, backflip. Also, you're almost there. Remember the forest temple boss? Be prepared to use that strategy again. ;) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 30, 2010, 02:28:58 pm I beat him. It took me a while though, primarily because I didn't realize you had to use the Master Sword to beat him. =P
I'm now playing Majora's Mask, and quite honestly, I like it more than OoT. Ok, so I appreciate the general awesomeness of OoT, but it feels like the game takes itself waaay too seriously. Plus the plot is pretty generic. Not that it isn't a great game. No, it is epic. But I simply prefer MM. And to everyone who called Majora's Mask too short, keep in mind Nintendo had 5 years to make OoT and only one year to make MM. The primary thing I like about MM is it's replay value. Since time is looped over and over, you can do all of your favorite side quests as much as you want. Not to mention the graphics are, for the most part, on the same level as a Gamecube Game. (Well, an early GC game, anyway.) The plot is creative, and the side quests are all pretty fun. Plus, the character writing is excellent. I see these people/species in trouble, and I legitimately feel their pain! I want to help them, not just for the reward. My favorite Quest is probably the "They" side quest with Romani. I especially like the Skull Kid, he's fleshed out pretty well. And Tatl. Superior to the obnoxious Navi in every way, IMO. Navi will tell you things that you figured out long ago. Tatl tells you things you actually need to know. Although the bosses aren't as good (or many) as OoT, Majora's Mask is my personal favorite Zelda. And I'm only about 60% done. Now, to all of the OoT diehards out there...please don't kill me. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on January 31, 2010, 02:20:45 pm Quote from: Navi "Heavy iron bars are blocking the door! You can't open it!" That Navi......Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on January 31, 2010, 08:29:24 pm Yeah. If there's one thing I know most people will agree with in my MM rant, it's that Tatl is superior to Navi in pretty much every way. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on February 01, 2010, 09:57:53 am MM is in my top two Zelda games....the other one is TP. Majora is, without a doubt, my favorite Zelda villain.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on February 01, 2010, 08:03:03 pm Meh, TP would probably be my favorite too if I were to play it. I just don't feel like it becuase A.It'd be a hassle to find in stores and B. The new Zelda Wii Game is probably going to be better in every way. =P
Of the Zelda Games I've played in part or whole, I'd probably rank them: 4. The Legend of Zelda (first game...nothing against the classics, but it's old. there's newer, better games around. I'm not really someone who likes a game just because it's a "Classic" or because it's where the series came from. 3. Spirit Tracks (decent game, but...) 2. Ocarina of Time 1. Majora's Mask Although MM may not be as innovative or "epic" as OoT, it's waaaaay more creative. The whole game is. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on February 01, 2010, 08:08:12 pm My top games in order would probably be:
7: aLttP/Four Swords (it was the first LoZ game I ever played) 6: Oracle Of Ages/Oracle Of Seasons (Bad graphics, cool password concept) 5: Spirit Tracks (too buggy to get a better rating) 4: Phantom Hourglass (for Linebeck if nothing else) 3: OoT 2: TP 1: MM If Spinoffs count, Freshly Picked Tingle's Rupee Land would be in 4th place. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on February 04, 2010, 03:24:46 pm Navi... Argh... "Watch out! There are shadows of monsters that fall from the cieling!" ... Yes Navi, I heard you the 100000000000000000000 other times you said that. -_-
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on March 03, 2010, 06:17:48 pm *swoops in* Whew...this topic was about to die.
@Blade-xD Well, Navi was the first fairy companion for Link...the prototype generally ends up being the worst model. =P So, with Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Other M coming out in the first half of the year, that leaves the second half wide open for Zelda Wii 2...=D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 03, 2010, 06:19:32 pm It's motion-plus exclusive apparently or something... =/ Which means I'll definitely have to get a Motionplus add-on if I wanna play this...
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on March 03, 2010, 06:20:54 pm I think Zelda Wii will come with MotionPlus. (Just to be safe, though, I bought one already)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 03, 2010, 06:23:33 pm They don't normally bundle things that have already been bundled with other things in the past though... Do they? =/
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on March 03, 2010, 06:24:22 pm They probably do if it's needed....
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on March 03, 2010, 06:25:01 pm I already have 2, so I'm GTG. But it would be totally worth it even if it didn't come with MotionPlus. =D I'm looking forward to hearing about the game @ E3 this year.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 03, 2010, 06:26:24 pm I'm just mentioning for people like me. Who don't have a Wii, and need to get all these extra accessories as well. xP
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Host on March 25, 2010, 11:36:50 am If Zelda Wii comes with a motionplus I'll have to sell one of mine since I currently have 4...
And I finally got around to beating LoZ: ST. That was one of the harder final battles I've had in a long time. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 28, 2010, 01:56:41 pm I still haven't gotten a chance to get Spirit Tracks; how it is overall?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on March 28, 2010, 09:07:14 pm Not so great. horrid touch controls (especially for Zelda), a boring final boss, exasperating sidequests...
I'd give it a 7/10, maybe 8/10 if I'm in a good mood. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on March 29, 2010, 09:04:13 am I'll be quite honest, I have no idea what Hero is talking about. I know I don't have the experience with Zelda you guys do (I've actually been thinking about hunting down WW and PH and playing those) but I personally think ST was a 9.5 and DS game of the year. Very close second in M&L: BIS though.
Okay, the sidequests weren't great (although that rabbit guy was hilaroius xD) and the boss could use some improvement. The Pan Flute is a bit iffy (the game thinks I'm perpetually blowing in if I'm riding in a car) and I'm not crazy about the instant-death trains. But you could also say that the Ocarina is MM was too overused, or that Majora was bad because he wasn't Ganondorf, or that the Circus Leader Quest was pointless or the Anju and Kafei sidequest was annoying. Every bad thing the game had was, besides the trainand final boss, a small one. Plus that lava guy (I forget his name >_>) was the best Zelda non-final boss I've ever fought. =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on March 29, 2010, 12:55:59 pm Yes, the bosses were awesome.
But the flute-in-car glitch alone made the game unusable for me. If you really love Zelda games, get ST. If you can't stand glitches, don't get it. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 29, 2010, 01:03:55 pm Here's a hint to the flute 'glitch'; cars make noise, noise makes sound, sound simulates blowing. =P And the solution? Don't play in the car, much like I do. xP
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Host on March 31, 2010, 05:02:54 pm The Final Boss in the game wasn't bad, and I enjoyed the amount of work it took for me to beat him. It was hard but not impossible(like other games I own).
The train was cool, but the speed of it was not. It needed a setting for it to go one speed faster. The sidequests got repetive after a while, and I still have a few left to complete(Linebeck should be happy with 4 pieces of that garbage!) Zelda's controls were not good at all. They should have made it so that you could control Zleda like controlling the Goron in PH(ie actually moving Zelda with the stylus and not just tracing lines.) I never played in a car, so I never had the flute glitch problem, but I am not good at playing the flute(or blowing into the mic), so that was a downside. Link's controls were slightly improved from PH though(never mind that swirly motion to get Link to roll, simply a double tap does the job). Most of all, the scenery and amount of extra stuff to do in the game made this a good game, and some of the bosses were pretty creative, although easy as well. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on April 20, 2010, 09:31:29 am Hey, I got LoZ: Wind Waker a week ago. Did I forget to mention that? =P It's pretty good....I'm just not crazy about the boat, and the game is pretty easy overall. The writing is the best I've seen in a Zelda game though (I just got sent by Daphenes Hyrule to do the sages thing) and I like Link's ability to use enemie's weapons, though. =D So it's not as good as OoT or MM, but still a good game overall. But seriously-NP's 4th best game of the decade? That's a bit up in the air, IMHO.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Dudebot5000 on April 20, 2010, 03:40:14 pm I enjoy WW, lol. I've had too much fun playing through it a second time, even though I'm not fully happy with the one change that they made in the second play-through that you have to live wit, lol.
I love the music, too. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on April 21, 2010, 09:44:26 am That change is Link's change of clothes, right?
To me, the puzzles feel sort of mixed. Some are relatively simple (either that or I've just gotten better from OoT and MM) while others work pretty well and get you thinking. A few feel cheap, though. Like in the dungeon on Dragon Roost Island, you needed to get that thing that curls up into a ball when hit onto a switch. Annoying. But yeah, the music is good. I like the theme from Dragon Roost Island, which I'm pretty sure is in the Wind Waker's stage in Brawl. can't find the eagle key for the life of me..... >_> Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on April 29, 2010, 03:49:54 pm The what? =P
Say, I vaguely remember Blade or someone mentioning a sidequest of some sort in OoT where you have to hit a guy 999 times. Was that sarcasm or can someone tell me where I go to fight that guy? =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: mtmerrick on April 29, 2010, 03:51:37 pm ok, got the key, now i need to ind some way to get to the 4th pillar.....
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on April 29, 2010, 03:51:44 pm No, that was in PH, and you didn't have to hit him 999 times, it was just for bragging rights. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on April 29, 2010, 03:55:55 pm Ooh. That explains a lot. XD
Urgh...I know that Twilight Princess was the same way, but WHEN are we going to hear something new about the next Zelda!? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on April 29, 2010, 03:58:41 pm A month or two. I mean it. =P E3's when we're hearing something new. If they don't delay it. =P
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on April 29, 2010, 04:16:31 pm I doubt that. Although that is possible...*stares at Metroid: Other M* The fact that Metroid is coming out at the end of August makes me wonder if '10 is even realistic at this point. Factor in Wii Vitality Sensor, Pikmin 3, the inevitable new Kid Icarus game... :-\
(No, Kid Icarus 3 hasn't been confirmed or even leaked yet, but come on-anyone who's played Brawl knows it's going to happen) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on April 29, 2010, 04:19:50 pm They make them in different studios and such. =P

Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on May 01, 2010, 12:31:40 pm *recently started replaying Freshly Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland*
I missed a lot of sidequests the first time I played it! Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 09, 2011, 05:30:18 pm Don't want to necro, but I kind of want to ask:
Which is the best? I have a Wii, and a Dsi. I Don't have any Zelda games yet, but I have seen an LP of Wind Waker so I know about the main idea and the characters. So... I want to get one. The question is once again, which? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 09, 2011, 05:40:39 pm The most highly regarded game? Ocarina of Time; no doubt. However, since you don't have a 3DS; I would personally skip that. Yes; I know; am I crazy, blah blah blah...
But honestly? Now that I've been playing OoT 3D... I just can't fathom anyone trying to play it otherwise. And you get two versions of OoT, both with their own three save files. So yeah... Skip OoT. Try out Twilight Princess if you can; and I would recommend tracking down Wind Waker, but if you don't have a Memory Card, you'll need to get one, otherwise you'd be restarting every time you turned off the power. I like Phantom Hourglass, but it's not everyone's favourite, because of the 'main dungeon'; and I haven't played Spirit Tracks so I couldn't comment on that. However, Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess I do definitely like. However, since Majora's Mask, and the other classic games are Virtual Console titles, not everyone could get them, because of the whole points system. but, given Twilight Princess is still out in stores(And just got a price cut), it and Wind Waker would be more accessible. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 09, 2011, 06:18:29 pm A lot of information... I'll check out virtual console soon. But I have a question: Do you need a classic or Gamecube controller? I'm sure I could get one, I just want to know. (If you don't remember I'll check, no need to check for me or even rack your brain)
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 09, 2011, 06:21:42 pm Either will do; I personally have been using the gamecube Controller with Majora's Mask, but either would technically be fine. In fact, Classic might be better, but I'm not sure, only used the gamecube Controller.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on July 09, 2011, 06:23:06 pm Just my opinion: if you can only get one LoZ game, get Majora's Mask.
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 09, 2011, 06:25:15 pm Just don't get put off by the Three Day Cycle; it's simpler than you'd think. =P
(Also, Song of Inverted Time... A must.) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 09, 2011, 06:32:38 pm Either will do; I personally have been using the gamecube Controller with Majora's Mask, but either would technically be fine. In fact, Classic might be better, but I'm not sure, only used the gamecube Controller. Actually I was wondering not which one was better but if you needed either. Which you do, apparently. Majora's Mask sounds good then, I'll think about it more later... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 09, 2011, 06:34:43 pm Yeah; you need one of the two to play games from the SNES and up.
And my opinion? Majora's Mask is awesome. However, if you only have the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, then Twilight Princess is good as well. It's just... long. Mostly because of Hyrule Field. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 13, 2011, 05:50:36 pm O.K, I'm buying a GCN controller and a GCN memory card for my Wii, should I get Majora's Mask or Wind Waker?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 13, 2011, 06:04:32 pm Wind Waker. If you're already getting the Memory Card, get Wind Waker first.
However, don't let the sailing discourage you from further games, if you don't like it... of all of them, only Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass use a sailing system. ;) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 13, 2011, 06:06:40 pm Thanks, you really know your Zelda games! :D
I'll get Wind Waker if I can find it. I'll search a bit later. I've been on amazon enough looking at well known GCN games such as Metroid Prime... :sigh: Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 13, 2011, 06:09:59 pm Alright. After that, if you really want to, you can get Ocarina of Time, since there's honestly nothing wrong with the N64/Virtual Console version, but I prefer the 3DS version now, simply because of the menu being 100 times better for the Iron Boots. =P I say that, because Ocarina basically ties into everything else. =P
Also, once it comes out sometime this fall, I'd also recommend Skyward Sword, if you like Wind Waker. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Canama on July 14, 2011, 11:30:07 am Thanks, you really know your Zelda games! :D Though this isn't the "Metroid Topic" or anything, get Metroid Prime Trilogy. It costs like $100 right now, but it is the second-best gaming purchase I have ever made (Of course, I bought it when it was still $50... :P ). It includes all three console Metroid Prime games. The two Gamecube ones now have Wii controls that are vastly superior to the originals (Trilogy version of the first Prime is my second-favorite game of all time. Gamecube version ranks much lower.), as well as graphical improvements.I'll get Wind Waker if I can find it. I'll search a bit later. I've been on amazon enough looking at well known GCN games such as Metroid Prime... :sigh: Also, it comes in a shiny metal case and has a small art booklet. Back on topic: Wind Waker is a pretty fun game, but if you're a completionist know that you aren't going to do it (With "it" being the figurine quest) the first time through. -Canama Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 14, 2011, 11:36:47 am Off Topic: The problem with that is it's practically one of the rarest games on the Wii now. =P Otherwise I'd have it by now myself. =/
On Topic: You can't do the whole subquest in the normal game? It's New Game + material? I didn't know that. At least that gives me an actual reason to play through twice whenever I get Wind Waker. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Canama on July 14, 2011, 11:53:50 am You can technically do it in the normal game, but it's hard. It's easier to do in the new game+ (Easier but by no means easy.)
Unless you're a massive completionist you're better off just skipping it completely. -Canama Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 14, 2011, 12:19:48 pm Looks like I have a challenge then, for when I get Wind Waker.
It involves taking pictures of stuff; right? I think I've heard of it, and now understand why it'd be so hard. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: KnownandUnknown on July 14, 2011, 12:22:30 pm I believe you have to take pictures of every person in the game, correct?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 14, 2011, 12:53:42 pm I'm not certain, but that rings a bell. Would then make sense why New Game + would make things easier.
Going to start a new blog. That way I can test glitches from OoT... Multiple versions of OoT. ;) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on July 14, 2011, 02:17:44 pm Wind Waker. If you're already getting the Memory Card, get Wind Waker first. What? Majora's Mask is much better than WW! However, don't let the sailing discourage you from further games, if you don't like it... of all of them, only Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass use a sailing system. ;) (WW is awesome, MM is just more awesome.) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on July 14, 2011, 03:19:50 pm Well, he's got everything else, and more or less is ready for Wind Waker... Plus, since he knows about stuff from Wind Waker, it's the best to get into first. ;)
And another thing; since Majora's Mask is the direct sequel to OoT, although I'd recommend Majora's Mask in a heartbeat, it does make a little more sense to play through OoT to make sense of what the heck is going on with the intro... "Who's that friend Link's looking for? Why does Link have a horse? What's that instrument that weird guy took, and why's it so important? ... How'd he get that instrument anyway?" ;) If all those weren't a factor, I'd definitely say 'go for it', ASAP. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Legodac on August 10, 2011, 07:43:18 pm "Who's that friend Link's looking for? Why does Link have a horse? What's that instrument that weird guy took, and why's it so important? ... How'd he get that instrument anyway? Zelda, from the past. So he can go farther faster. Ocarina, plays magical music that controls the elements. Oh, and because controlling the elements is cool. A King, posing as a lion, dressed as a boat, gave it to him because he's already dead. Wind Zelda eh :D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 11, 2011, 09:15:53 am That was a mention from Majora's Mask... =P
So technically the first was Navi, and The King of Red Lions doesn't play a part, since it's in the wrong timeline. =P(And, psst, you're talking about the Wind Waker. =P) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: mtmerrick on August 29, 2011, 04:14:45 pm (http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/08/zelda-skyward-sword.jpg)

Seems cheaper than building each separately as well. =P But seriously, that's awesome, and I need a Remote Plus; it easier than having to attack the Motion Plus for every single Motion Plus game. =P Allows use of the Zapper too. =D Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Host on August 30, 2011, 08:41:19 am Seems awesome, but I already own 4 remotes + remote plus attachments, so I can't justify buying an extra remote, even if it is awesome...
Not even sure about getting this game, as I doubt I would finish it, given that I rarely use my Wii system anyways. And I haven't beaten TP yet. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 30, 2011, 08:48:14 am Well, if you wouldn't play it now, I'd get it and play it on the Wii U if you get it. =P Plus, you could always wait a little bit, see the reviews, and then decide if you want it. As long as you don't care about the CD, of course.
Perfect for me, however, I only have one remote... Then I'd only need a Nunchuck, and I'd finally be able to do Multiplayer with remote-only games. =P If I can get it, however. =/ Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on August 30, 2011, 10:07:58 am I just happen to only have three Wiimotes...go me! =P
This is definitely a Day One buy for me, especially with the music CD. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 30, 2011, 10:09:25 am Hahahaha. xD
The only problem I'll face, is that I'll need a second nunchuck, but I can always get one of those wireless ones. =P(Well, second problem is it won't be black, but the coolness factor makes up for that. =P) And given that it's limited edition, I'll bet anything that it needs to be a day one buy. =/ Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Host on August 30, 2011, 05:35:10 pm Well, if you wouldn't play it now, I'd get it and play it on the Wii U if you get it. =P Plus, you could always wait a little bit, see the reviews, and then decide if you want it. Then I'd only need a Nunchuck, and I'd finally be able to do Multiplayer with remote-only games. =P If I can get it, however. =/ I definately won't be getting a Wii U... unless a massive pokemon game comes along and I inherit a great fortune. If I played Wii even weekly I might try to get one, but as it is I only play a bit in the summer and for about 2 weeks in the winter. Yes, getting an extra remote and a game for $70 is a good price, so this is good for you. How many games need a nunchuck for multiplayer? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on August 30, 2011, 05:38:01 pm More than you'd think. Most of my games that have multiplayer uses the nunchuck one way or another.
It's not a needed add on for me, since most would be single player; but it's handy if someone happens to be over and wishes to play. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 25, 2011, 11:18:32 pm Obligatory 'SKYWARD SWORD IS OUT!!' bump.
So, discuss the game that did what Twilight Princess tried, and for a while seemed to succeed at... Dethroning Ocarina of Time. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on November 25, 2011, 11:49:17 pm I love it, and it's nice that it's harder than most Zeldas (but thankfully, not as hard as Zelda II). But constantly recentering the cursor is a pain, and Link sometimes doesn't respond to my motions, which has gotten me killed quite a few times.
The Dash feature is VERY nice, though I wish there was a way to increase Link's endurance permanently. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 26, 2011, 07:32:32 am Well, as for the stamina stuff, you can't really expect that to be totally perfect on it's first try; but it's definitely awesome. ... Now I'm missing the dash function when I go back to Ocarina. D=
As for the motion stuff, recentering is a pain, but that's partially because it's all handled through the motion-plus... So when you go to do something that involves aiming, point the remote at the screen. ;) Though, one item might be more interesting if you held it as the actual item typically does. also, for Link's movements not matching yours sometimes; are you playing in an area where there may be light interference? It doesn't make much sense why that would be a factor... But it is. It happened to me the other day. Luckily I didn't run into too many problems. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Ddude The Insane on November 27, 2011, 05:52:52 pm For a while I wouls go into the map screen and recenter every 3 seconds.
Then I got sick of it and realized my sword works fine if the pointer is off. Much more fun now :P The Beetle would be a LOT more fun if you didn't have to recenter every time you use it. Other than that, all of the items are good. Slingshot is surprisingly useful, Whip is just plain fun, and I've just unlocked the clawshots, which were the best items in TP. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 09:26:03 am ^ Why were you going into these things without first pointing to the center of the screen? =P It is more or less actually centered if you do that. ;)
And the Clawshots are amazing. =D ... I just wish you could actually do damage with them, something I bet a lot of people are echoing once they get to a, err, certain part of the game. And yeah, I was surprised about the slingshot, and yes, the whip is fun to use. And another thing I'm surprised about; you actually have to use all these items... A lot! Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Host on November 29, 2011, 06:59:24 pm I highly doubt i'll be getting skyward sword any time soon, as i still haven't come close to beating TP, and hardly play the Wii at all. It's too much of a hastle for me most of the time.
However, I did download 4 swords from the 3ds eshop and its pretty cool, especially being free. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 07:04:08 pm I'll say this: Twilight Princess pales in comparison to Skyward Sword. =P SS doesn't have as much filler compared to TP, and I must admit, the controls are much better.
And I've gotta say this: Best looking game on the Wii. Seriously. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Host on November 29, 2011, 07:38:13 pm SS does look like it has good graphics, as do most Zelda home console games (handheld games are alright). I haven't really enjoyed TP that much mostly because of how long it takes to do everything, and the level of difficulty (not excrutiating, but not enjoyable for me).
When zelda gets a game on the 3ds I'll likely get it, because I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, but since I don't play the wii enough, SS isn't worth it to me. I'll say this: Twilight Princess pales in comparison to Skyward Sword. =P SS doesn't have as much filler compared to TP, and I must admit, the controls are much better. what do you mean by filler? cut scenes and tons of walking around to get to places? and i should hope the controls are better after 5-6 years since TP was released =PAnd I've gotta say this: Best looking game on the Wii. Seriously. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 29, 2011, 07:55:44 pm Filler meaning stuff like 'oh, okay, go herd some goats', or 'oh, okay, go collect tears of light'.(And yeah, walking around back and forth endlessly through an empty field like TP and even OoT, though that wasn't as bad there) Whatever it does have in place of that, is pure overworld awesomeness, like the original games. ;) Places that actually aren't empty for as far as the eye can see. ;)
It is disappointing to hear that you don't think it'd be worth it though. =/ Did I mention it has about 50 hours worth of main-game content? And that most of it is actual fighting stuff stuff? =P But I guess it makes sense, if that's part of the reason... Well, yeah, but I meant that everything is pretty perfect, even the motion controls. I think most of the people who complain are the people who for some reason think that motion-based gaming shouldn't happen. Those people likely are lazy for the most part, though the ones who literally can't because of some medical reason are exempt from that generalization. =P I did see an interesting idea on another forum, though... Mapping the motion-based sword combat from this... To the right analog stick of something like the Wii U controller(As like an alternate control scheme, or something). I can definitely see how that could work, but I'd be even more scared to fight some enemies. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Flipz on November 29, 2011, 11:50:48 pm According to the GameSpot review, the stealth sequence near the end kind of ruins the game. Have you gotten there? If so, is it really as bad as several of the reviewers have indicated?
I also read that SS suffers from the same sensor-drift problems that plague Wii Sports Resort--that is, every minute or two you have to recenter the Wii-mote, either through pressing a button or by pausing the game and manually recalibrating it. To quote the review: Quote There is some satisfaction in a battle cleanly won, but going through this elaborate charade is both time consuming and ultimately pointless. Instead, you can parry its opening attack and then flail away at its prone body until it's vanquished. By either using a shield parry or landing one sword strike against most enemies, you can stun them and then proceed to waggle your way to victory. (word edit mine)If you decide to be slow and precise rather than quick and efficient, new problems arise that ensure combat does not go smoothly. The Wii Remote has trouble recognizing your different swings. Often, you thrust forward in real life only to watch Link swing feebly in the game or just stand completely motionless. The sensitivity varies wildly so you're never quite sure how much force you need before the game recognizes your actions. As in the aforementioned situation, you may swing your arm while Link ignores you. Other times, you might adjust your grip so you go from holding on your left side to your right, only to see Link lash out at an enemy when you didn't want to do so. Most troubling of all is how the aiming works. There are certain items that require you to aim at the screen. However, the calibration is frequently wrong, forcing you to tap down on the D-pad to recenter. This happens with alarming frequency, and when you find yourself in a heated battle looking directly at the ground, you'll curse the game for BURDENING you with such a cumbersome control scheme. The control issues don't end with the combat, either. When Nintendo released the first 3D adventure in the series in 1998, Ocarina of Time set a number of standards (such as Z targeting) that are still used in a variety of games today. But that was 13 years ago, and many ideas that worked back then feel downright clunky now. For instance, your camera control is very limited. You can tap Z to center your view or lock on to an enemy, but this is a poor solution because you can't freely scan the environment without switching to a first-person perspective. There are times when you square off against giant foes but your view is almost completely blocked, placing you in a frustrating situation that could have been avoided. Automatically jumping when you run toward a ledge is also included in Skyward Sword, and combined with the troubled camera, you may find yourself accidentally jumping off of a cliff or taking inadvisable angles. It's a shame that you spend so much time fighting the controls in Skyward Sword because the content is quite enjoyable. Hve you found this to be true as well? I like LoZ, so I'm thinking about getting Skyward Sword, but I don't want it if it'll be a waste of my money. Joke time! What is a pacifist Hylian's response to mistreatment? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 10:58:07 am 1. The thing you mention is very annoying for the first little while(Or at least until you get past the first part); however, I wouldn't say it's a ruiner. Annoying as heck? Certainly. But it's a puzzle, like everything else, and actually gives use for a certain item. =P
2. No sensor drift; because it does not use the Sensor bar. Any aiming problems for the most part is the player's fault, I must say. It 'calibrates' the aiming reticule to the middle; and also to where the person is pointing. Sometimes this works wonders, like for a certain item; but in general, you'll always want to hold the remote straight center in the screen when going into an aiming mode. That makes it center, and you'll have little to no problems that way. Sure; you may need to recalibrate it a couple times, but since you have to recalibrate every time the Remote's disconnected(And with auto-off that might be a lot if you take a lot of breaks. =P), you shouldn't have any problems. Plus, I've gone a long time without recalibrating a couple times, and haven't had problems. But to sum it up; sure, it might aim at the wrong spot... but chances are, you went into the mode holding the remote to the side or something. =P 3. As for the camera, I haven't had any problems. Could a camera control function help? Possibly. Did it help me in Wind Waker? Not really, I like having a camera follow me, as it leaves out the chances of missing something. Could it have a camera control function? No. There is simply no buttons that could feasibly make that possible. They pretty much mapped every button they could. Actually, scratch that, they did map every button they could, aside from the left/right D-Pad. And that wouldn't really have helped the camera control any(Trust me, I've played a game that handles camera control that way. =P)... Sure; I've run off cliffs multiple times, but 9 out of 10 times, that was because I was mad-dashing toward the thing, and didn't turn at the right time, and vaulted right over the wall because I was in a hurry. =P But, I haven't done any false jumps that I wouldn't have done in any game, Zelda or otherwise, camera control or otherwise. Sure, you need to look down sometimes, but the camera automatically pans down for most ledges, and the rest you can go into first person to line up your jump... And since you can move in First Person mode... Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Flipz on November 30, 2011, 12:30:11 pm OK, what about the joke/riddle?
"What is a pacifist Hylian's response to mistreatment?" Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 12:37:54 pm I missed that. xD
Stop time? Or something about the triforce? I'm not too sure about that, there hasn't been too many of them. =P Also, to answer your question about whether it's worth your money or not, don't hesitate, it's definitely worth the money. Just make sure you have some sort of Wii Remote that has Motion Plus capacity, or you won't be able to play. =) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Flipz on November 30, 2011, 03:31:52 pm "What is a pacifist Hylian's response to mistreatment?"
"Turn the other Shiek." What is a pacifist Goron's response to mistreatment? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 03:33:28 pm xD Nice. =P
As for the Goron one, Curl into a ball? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Flipz on November 30, 2011, 04:06:10 pm What is a pacifist Goron's response to mistreatment?
Just roll with it. What is a pacifist Bulbin's response to mistreatment? Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 04:08:19 pm Pacifist Bulbin? Isn't that an oxymoron? =P However, hmm... At menacing? Not sure on that one, for sure.
(Should've known the Goron one, nice one though. =)) Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Flipz on November 30, 2011, 05:02:20 pm "At menacing?" ??? I don't understant that sentence at all. :P
What is a pacifist Bulbin's response to mistreatment? If you could find one, maybe we'd know. :P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 05:05:24 pm "Act Menacing". I typoed it, obviously. =P(Took me a minute to figure it out myself. >>; )
As for the answer, that is awesome, but true. =P I have for you! "What is a pacifist Bokoblin's response to mistreatment?" Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Flipz on November 30, 2011, 06:31:09 pm No one is brave enough to mistreat a Bokoblin?
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 06:44:22 pm No, but that certainly could be applicable. =P

Those people likely are lazy for the most part, though the ones who literally can't because of some medical reason are exempt from that generalization. =P 2)50 hours would make it worth the money (for me that's about $1 / hour of gameplay). But I would never finish all of that, especially if the dungeons are long, as i don't play for long periods of time. 3)motion controls can be annoying though, or really good (as you seem to be implying for SS). i think that's another reason i don't play wii as much- i'd rather toss a football back and forth to move my arms, and a lot of the motions i make during gameplay are exaggerated so that they work well. Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on November 30, 2011, 08:42:48 pm 1. Yeah. There is admittedly a similar section, but they made it much better(Especially since there's no Wolf Link. =P)
2. The dungeons aren't too long, but there are save points scattered all through the dungeons, so you never have to backtrack more than a few rooms. =) Plus, there is a second, harder quest after beating the game once. I haven't started that, but factoring in many, many deaths, I predict about 60-70 hours for the main stuff. 3. The controls in this are pretty much flawless(Except for Stabbing. That'll always be a pain. =P). You can either use slight movements of your wrist, or the entire swing, though obviously it was intended for the entire swing. =P You need to shake the nunchuk for shield stuff, but that's not too bad compared to the horrors that are the advanced techniques in Twilight Princess.(They needed to take a step back when they thought up where to map all the different moves when porting it to the Wii. =P) However, in this, it all feels natural; as natural as it would for pressing buttons like in the old system. As I was saying over on BZP, I tried to go back to Ocarina 3D, and just couldn't do it. The system has been improved too much in Skyward Sword. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: The Truth on November 30, 2011, 09:05:13 pm SECOND QUEST?! 0_o
Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on December 01, 2011, 09:21:59 am ... Oh. Right. Whoops. >>;
There's a second 'mode', like in almost all the older games; the 'Second Quest' as it's known in the original Zelda, possibly Zelda II(I'll confirm if I ever beat that. =P), Master Quest in Ocarina(Though only through Ocarina 3D), whatever it's called in Wind Waker, and anything else I forgot to mention. In this, however, it's called 'Hero Mode'. To sum up, it's not an actual 'second adventure right in the game', it's a replay of sorts. If that makes sense. =P Title: Re: Legend of Zelda General Discussion Post by: mtmerrick on February 11, 2012, 01:34:56 am http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZbGpJORm2M

Sweet. =D I'm thankful for having gotten Link's Awakening not long ago, now. =P Would've recognized it, but it was in my memory because I played it not long ago. =)
