I just happen to only have three Wiimotes...go me! =P

This is definitely a Day One buy for me, especially with the music CD.

Hahahaha. xD

The only problem I'll face, is that I'll need a second nunchuck, but I can always get one of those wireless ones. =P(Well, second problem is it won't be black, but the coolness factor makes up for that. =P)

And given that it's limited edition, I'll bet anything that it needs to be a day one buy. =/

Well, if you wouldn't play it now, I'd get it and play it on the Wii U if you get it. =P Plus, you could always wait a little bit, see the reviews, and then decide if you want it. As long as you don't care about the CD, of course.

Perfect for me, however, I only have one remote... Then I'd only need a Nunchuck, and I'd finally be able to do Multiplayer with remote-only games. =P If I can get it, however. =/

I definately won't be getting a Wii U... unless a massive pokemon game comes along and I inherit a great fortune. If I played Wii even weekly I might try to get one, but as it is I only play a bit in the summer and for about 2 weeks in the winter.

Yes, getting an extra remote and a game for $70 is a good price, so this is good for you. How many games need a nunchuck for multiplayer?

More than you'd think. Most of my games that have multiplayer uses the nunchuck one way or another.

It's not a needed add on for me, since most would be single player; but it's handy if someone happens to be over and wishes to play. =P

Obligatory 'SKYWARD SWORD IS OUT!!' bump.

So, discuss the game that did what Twilight Princess tried, and for a while seemed to succeed at... Dethroning Ocarina of Time.

I love it, and it's nice that it's harder than most Zeldas (but thankfully, not as hard as Zelda II). But constantly recentering the cursor is a pain, and Link sometimes doesn't respond to my motions, which has gotten me killed quite a few times.
The Dash feature is VERY nice, though I wish there was a way to increase Link's endurance permanently.

Well, as for the stamina stuff, you can't really expect that to be totally perfect on it's first try; but it's definitely awesome. ... Now I'm missing the dash function when I go back to Ocarina. D=

As for the motion stuff, recentering is a pain, but that's partially because it's all handled through the motion-plus... So when you go to do something that involves aiming, point the remote at the screen. Wink Though, one item might be more interesting if you held it as the actual item typically does.

also, for Link's movements not matching yours sometimes; are you playing in an area where there may be light interference? It doesn't make much sense why that would be a factor... But it is. It happened to me the other day. Luckily I didn't run into too many problems. =P

For a while I wouls go into the map screen and recenter every 3 seconds.

Then I got sick of it and realized my sword works fine if the pointer is off.

Much more fun now Tongue

The Beetle would be a LOT more fun if you didn't have to recenter every time you use it. Other than that, all of the items are good. Slingshot is surprisingly useful, Whip is just plain fun, and I've just unlocked the clawshots, which were the best items in TP.

^ Why were you going into these things without first pointing to the center of the screen? =P It is more or less actually centered if you do that. Wink

And the Clawshots are amazing. =D ... I just wish you could actually do damage with them, something I bet a lot of people are echoing once they get to a, err, certain part of the game.

And yeah, I was surprised about the slingshot, and yes, the whip is fun to use.

And another thing I'm surprised about; you actually have to use all these items... A lot!

I highly doubt i'll be getting skyward sword any time soon, as i still haven't come close to beating TP, and hardly play the Wii at all. It's too much of a hastle for me most of the time.

However, I did download 4 swords from the 3ds eshop and its pretty cool, especially being free.

I'll say this: Twilight Princess pales in comparison to Skyward Sword. =P SS doesn't have as much filler compared to TP, and I must admit, the controls are much better.

And I've gotta say this: Best looking game on the Wii. Seriously.

SS does look like it has good graphics, as do most Zelda home console games (handheld games are alright). I haven't really enjoyed TP that much mostly because of how long it takes to do everything, and the level of difficulty (not excrutiating, but not enjoyable for me).

When zelda gets a game on the 3ds I'll likely get it, because I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, but since I don't play the wii enough, SS isn't worth it to me.

what do you mean by filler? cut scenes and tons of walking around to get to places? and i should hope the controls are better after 5-6 years since TP was released =P

Filler meaning stuff like 'oh, okay, go herd some goats', or 'oh, okay, go collect tears of light'.(And yeah, walking around back and forth endlessly through an empty field like TP and even OoT, though that wasn't as bad there) Whatever it does have in place of that, is pure overworld awesomeness, like the original games. Wink Places that actually aren't empty for as far as the eye can see. Wink

It is disappointing to hear that you don't think it'd be worth it though. =/ Did I mention it has about 50 hours worth of main-game content? And that most of it is actual fighting stuff stuff? =P But I guess it makes sense, if that's part of the reason...

Well, yeah, but I meant that everything is pretty perfect, even the motion controls. I think most of the people who complain are the people who for some reason think that motion-based gaming shouldn't happen. Those people likely are lazy for the most part, though the ones who literally can't because of some medical reason are exempt from that generalization. =P

I did see an interesting idea on another forum, though... Mapping the motion-based sword combat from this... To the right analog stick of something like the Wii U controller(As like an alternate control scheme, or something). I can definitely see how that could work, but I'd be even more scared to fight some enemies. =P

According to the GameSpot review, the stealth sequence near the end kind of ruins the game.  Have you gotten there?  If so, is it really as bad as several of the reviewers have indicated?

I also read that SS suffers from the same sensor-drift problems that plague Wii Sports Resort--that is, every minute or two you have to recenter the Wii-mote, either through pressing a button or by pausing the game and manually recalibrating it.  To quote the review:
Quote
There is some satisfaction in a battle cleanly won, but going through this elaborate charade is both time consuming and ultimately pointless. Instead, you can parry its opening attack and then flail away at its prone body until it's vanquished. By either using a shield parry or landing one sword strike against most enemies, you can stun them and then proceed to waggle your way to victory.

If you decide to be slow and precise rather than quick and efficient, new problems arise that ensure combat does not go smoothly. The Wii Remote has trouble recognizing your different swings. Often, you thrust forward in real life only to watch Link swing feebly in the game or just stand completely motionless. The sensitivity varies wildly so you're never quite sure how much force you need before the game recognizes your actions. As in the aforementioned situation, you may swing your arm while Link ignores you. Other times, you might adjust your grip so you go from holding on your left side to your right, only to see Link lash out at an enemy when you didn't want to do so. Most troubling of all is how the aiming works. There are certain items that require you to aim at the screen. However, the calibration is frequently wrong, forcing you to tap down on the D-pad to recenter. This happens with alarming frequency, and when you find yourself in a heated battle looking directly at the ground, you'll curse the game for BURDENING you with such a cumbersome control scheme.

The control issues don't end with the combat, either. When Nintendo released the first 3D adventure in the series in 1998, Ocarina of Time set a number of standards (such as Z targeting) that are still used in a variety of games today. But that was 13 years ago, and many ideas that worked back then feel downright clunky now. For instance, your camera control is very limited. You can tap Z to center your view or lock on to an enemy, but this is a poor solution because you can't freely scan the environment without switching to a first-person perspective. There are times when you square off against giant foes but your view is almost completely blocked, placing you in a frustrating situation that could have been avoided. Automatically jumping when you run toward a ledge is also included in Skyward Sword, and combined with the troubled camera, you may find yourself accidentally jumping off of a cliff or taking inadvisable angles.

It's a shame that you spend so much time fighting the controls in Skyward Sword because the content is quite enjoyable.
(word edit mine)

Hve you found this to be true as well?  I like LoZ, so I'm thinking about getting Skyward Sword, but I don't want it if it'll be a waste of my money.

1. The thing you mention is very annoying for the first little while(Or at least until you get past the first part); however, I wouldn't say it's a ruiner. Annoying as heck? Certainly. But it's a puzzle, like everything else, and actually gives use for a certain item. =P

2. No sensor drift; because it does not use the Sensor bar. Any aiming problems for the most part is the player's fault, I must say. It 'calibrates' the aiming reticule to the middle; and also to where the person is pointing. Sometimes this works wonders, like for a certain item; but in general, you'll always want to hold the remote straight center in the screen when going into an aiming mode. That makes it center, and you'll have little to no problems that way. Sure; you may need to recalibrate it a couple times, but since you have to recalibrate every time the Remote's disconnected(And with auto-off that might be a lot if you take a lot of breaks. =P), you shouldn't have any problems. Plus, I've gone a long time without recalibrating a couple times, and haven't had problems.

But to sum it up; sure, it might aim at the wrong spot... but chances are, you went into the mode holding the remote to the side or something. =P

3. As for the camera, I haven't had any problems. Could a camera control function help? Possibly. Did it help me in Wind Waker? Not really, I like having a camera follow me, as it leaves out the chances of missing something. Could it have a camera control function? No. There is simply no buttons that could feasibly make that possible. They pretty much mapped every button they could. Actually, scratch that, they did map every button they could, aside from the left/right D-Pad. And that wouldn't really have helped the camera control any(Trust me, I've played a game that handles camera control that way. =P)...

Sure; I've run off cliffs multiple times, but 9 out of 10 times, that was because I was mad-dashing toward the thing, and didn't turn at the right time, and vaulted right over the wall because I was in a hurry. =P But, I haven't done any false jumps that I wouldn't have done in any game, Zelda or otherwise, camera control or otherwise.

Sure, you need to look down sometimes, but the camera automatically pans down for most ledges, and the rest you can go into first person to line up your jump... And since you can move in First Person mode...

Stop time? Or something about the triforce? I'm not too sure about that, there hasn't been too many of them. =P

Also, to answer your question about whether it's worth your money or not, don't hesitate, it's definitely worth the money. Just make sure you have some sort of Wii Remote that has Motion Plus capacity, or you won't be able to play. =)
