"The server has like a Terabyte of storage on it, and the server's filled with music I've gotten over the years; I have most of today's songs, even if I don't actually listen to it all. I then hooked it up to the speakers, and allowed the device to connect to it remotely so it would actually be useful."

OOC: There you have it; it's a mass media storage system that can play a lot of songs, and since MsRR kindly donated tons of 50s to 70s music... =P
