I don't turn it into a font you'd be able to use in MS Word, for example, because a lot of the fonts I make are highly specialized to the original word(s) I made it for (examples MÆLXTRØM, soulFire). Even the Hunter font is individual to that graphic because the points come off as I see fit for that, there isn't a norm I've specified as to from what part of a given letter and what direction the points go. If you wanted to make a standardized font to use in other programs, I think a specific font creation program is required. The closest you can get to that in Illustrator (and also PS) is saving things as custom shapes.
To make these logos I just draw them out with the pen tool, and copy/paste elements that are the same for multiple letters (such as the pointed and non-pointed stems of letters).
