For that reason, she really really hoped that Vera was not, in fact, responsible.

"Vera Yeager. She's another employee here, but she's not supposed to be on Gatewater Land properly. She's on leave for stirring up trouble, trying to organize a workers strike. Asute wanted to fire her, but the higher ups were worried she'd cause more trouble that way. But if he finds out she snuck in, she'd be fired for sure."

So we have a costume guy dead who nobody liked and seemingly was stealing, an owner who was having money trouble because of that, a security guard who hates me, a janitor who was... groovy, and... a woman I don't even know. I have honestly no clue where this is going. The girl sighed in frustration, as she glanced around uncertainly.

Day 1: Court Is Now In Session

ALL RISE

The Judge had clearly remembered his gavel today.
"Court is now in session for the trial of Sunny Bright."

In the prosecution bench, Izabel gave Annabeth a confident smirk, then turned and blew a kiss to someone in the audience. "The prosecution is ready, your honor."

"Yes, your Honor. Yesterday, at approximately 6:45 in the morning, a Gatewater Land employee by the name of Cus Toome was brutally murdered via suffocation. The prosecution asserts that the culprit is one Sunny Bright, a coworker of Toome who was caught at the scene of the crime."
She smirked at Annabeth. "Let's get this trial over with quickly. The prosecution calls Detective Dick Gumshoe to the stand!"
