I think that only the Nunchuck and possibly the new thing is required for most games, and of course some other controllers and the accessories to go with those. But I'll leave this up to someone else, as I don't even have a Wii yet.

Sam: You need the Nunchuck for some games, like I think Twilight Princess and such. A lot of the games that introduce a certain accessory is bundled with one though, like Mario Kart Wii.
