Windows 8 is AWFUL, but could be made just fine easily.
With W8, they're pushing the Metro Tiles UI.

Yes. that's your desktop. by tapping (or clicking) on a tile you get a fullscreen app. you have to exit to home to open up another app. you cannot close apps. to switch between running apps, you swipe from one end of the screen to the other. to look at 2 programs at once, you swipe and hold, and get this:

ew. that's it, only 2 windows viewable at once. no minimizing, no re-sizing, no exiting.
BUT THERE'S A CATCH
not all programs are compatible with the Metro UI, so they must use a "traditional" windows interface - THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE Windows 7!!!!
the "classic view", which is simply an improved version of the windows 7 UI, is treated as an app. starting a Metro-compatible program through it takes you back to the metro interface. you may "multitask" between a metro app and your "classic desktop"
You may not disable the metro tiles. If you could, i would buy it, as its a clear upgrade over 7. But the tiles. oh god the awful tiles *shivers*
