...That has to be the worst UI I've ever seen. No BG wallpapers? No taskbar? No desktop icons?

yell, you can put whatever wallpaper you want up... it'll just be obscured. taskbars are a thing of the past, and icons are "archaic", according to Microsoft.
yeah, I'll be sticking with W7 as long as i can..... I hope you fix this micorsoft... *shakes head*

tho I've heard good things about Other Linux distros too....
also keep in mind Android Jelly Bean will be out by the time W8 is out (end of 2012) and that'll be just as good of an OS
And for once in my life, I won't blame you for getting a Mac, If you have to choose between W8 and OSX

Well, I'm very happy with Windows 7...and maybe Window 9 will be better.
