taurosmanure useless. And they're rediculously prone to blackouts and other bugs, at least in my area.

@ Canama: True, but a driver's license is useful for plenty of other things just as a near-universal (in the U.S.) form of ID. Granted, the permit's not as useful as the actual license, but still.
Plus, in the state of California there's requirments about having to practice a certain number of hours with an adult in the car, and the sooner you get started, the sooner those requirements will be complete. IDK if you like in California, but that's another reason to actually know how to drive. Plus, in case of emergency, you CAN, say, drive someone to the hospital without killing ten other people in the process.
