Well, considering the firmware's size is 3.4 something GB to download, it's no wonder. It's like complaining that Windows 7 takes 3 hours to install, if it's the same size. =P Because that's basically what's happening, it's installing the full OS, just like you'd see on a new computer. Newer models in the spring will have it built in, apparently.

Windows 7 is bigger than that, and it's installing off a disk or flash drive. A lot of people have slow internet speeds (I get 1 mbps on a good day) or worse, monthly caps.
