On the broader topic of MMOs in general, most have felt really lacking and bad. Not to mention, the MMOs with large maps feel really empty and sometimes easy to get lost in when they're new, while the ones with small ones feel too crowded. MMO devs need to strike a balance between the two, so that you at least see more than one player per hour but not a hundred in one minute.

A game like LU started off too small at first, but it was gradually going in the right direction with the newer maps introduced being bigger than the previous ones, but not too big and mazelike.

Then there's the fact that almost every MMO has/had a grind. Some people say this is difficulty, I say this is tedium. Tedium bores many people except the determined. Stuff seems all new and shiny at first but the tedium will soon kick in. Maybe this is why I liked LU, it didn't have anywhere near as much of a grind as any of the other MMOs I've played. (Although things were going away from that in some respects, worryingly. Like the levelling system, which I think could have been done a lot better.) Then again, as it was aimed at kids, it was a lot more casual than other MMOs, which also meant it was less frustrating... I get frustrated easily, so... no wonder I liked LU.

Dang it, I meant to talk about MMOs in general and ended up talking about LU. Nice game while it lasted. There it goes again.
