Back to the laptop thing, I have not wanted one. I have a nice desktop with a generous size flat screen, and my office is in a room that runs the entire length of the house facing the river. A TV is at the other end of the room. It is kind of a combo den/ office. There is a sofa. love seat, 4 chairs, a 60 gallon aquarium, my desk & 2 leather office chairs ( one for 2Mak07) and a humongeous wooden chest for toys.
There is even room for LEGO building!

yeah.. it is a pretty big house.. 4500 square feet (on three floors) and about 70 years old. Not the biggest or the oldest on my street, but close.
