Well, this is all going to be text based, so it would have to be in hour/day format for growing bricks. Or, when you complete a quest/battle, you get bricks to build the masterpiece to get on to the next level/area.

Limits: Yes, there has to be limits.
Bricks: Growing them per day would work, but we'd need a way to grow them, but yes it'd be by hour, because by day isn't truly by day in MLN. =P And also getting them from missions.
