I threw a really tight band-aid on it. It is like a paper cut, but with metal.  Cry It didn't hurt too bad at first, but now it is stinging.

I've found electrical tape can actually seal a wound better than anythign else.

Ooh... there's an idea. Although the electrical tape wouldn't stick at the moment because of all the blood and germ-killing stuff on it.  Tongue I'll try it sometime though. Lots of people get hurt at robotics, and electrical tape is always on hand.  Smiley

Yep. I washed it well and put that germ-killing gel stuff on it (what is it called?). I probably should have poured hydrogen peroxide on it too, but completely forgot in my hurry to wrap it tightly in a band-aid to stop the bleeding.

if its a clean-ish cut, then just wash it under water till it stops bleeding (use liquid hand soap if its available), and put the electrical tape on tight, holding the wound closed. having a cleaned-out, sealed cut tends to get infected less often and heal much faster than a cut with neosporin and a loose bandaid. (in my personal experience)

Peroxide is no longer the germ killer of choice as it often damages nearby tissue as well.

MTM.. if it bleeding heavily it needs to be bound for a half day or longer.

This comes from my recent experiences at the ER. =P ( hand through book case glass, and the chair mat incident)

And electrical tape is not porous enough, adhesive tape is better.

well, peroxide kills germs, yes, but it also kills white blood cells and damaged tissue. water washes out, but leaves a little bad stuff behind. antibacterial hand soap + water is best.
