Did you read Irregular Webcomic! before it ended?  Kind of like how all the episodes led to the ending where all the themes overlapped.

Imagine several dozen threads pinned to a board.  Every so often, a thread or two will intersect, but for the most part they're running parallel.  At the very end, all of the plot lines will follow a single narrative, and everyone will be interacting.  They're basically parallel storylines, but it's not obvious from the start.
