Can't really tell anyone is the problem; but let's just say that when writing stories, and something big happens, never set it in the same timeframe as real life is supposed to happen. Ever since I did that, nothing but bad things have happened, and it just looks like that curse is just going to keep happening, maybe even after I think it should likely end... So, moral of the story is, offset stuff by at least a little while in the past, especially if important stuff happens in that timeframe.
