When people say laughter is the best medicine, they aren't being literal. (genius deduction, Pulse... that's sarcasm)

Laughter is an expression of amusement, and if you're amused, you're not angry, sad, afraid, et cetera, you're focused on what makes you amused. Takes your mind off things. Lets you wind down. Some may take offence to some forms of humour, but that's when you change the humour you're using.

But nobody likes a clown. Not in the metaphorical sense, a literal one. Clowns... lots of people are afraid of Clowns. Clowns are, therefore, not good at humour. Too good at being frightening. There's a big difference between a clown and a comedian. Getting uncomfortable talking about clowns.
