Maple Street was silent. And just for a few moments but in that few moments no wind blew, no leaves rustled. It was just quiet. All until the lightest whisper came from outside the window of the room to a boy named Archie Smith. He was fast asleep and surely wasn’t aware of the soft whispers from outside his window. In the whispers were soft words. “Do you think he is the one?” a voice whispered. The voice was sort of a trembling whisper of a sort. Then an answer was given. “Yes, I believe so.” The other gasped loudly. With this gasp somehow Archie Smith had heard the gasp from that man. Not any of the other conversation, but just that gasp. Archie got up and walked toward the window. “Hide!” One of the voices hissed. When Archie got to his window, glaring out into the darkness he saw just Maple Street. Just regular old Maple Street. He then opened the window. He heard nothing, as it was before. As he shut his window he thought to himself about how he had heard that, that gasp of some sort. Well, he had stop thinking about now. He was dead tired. He fell onto his bed with out a single noise. It didn’t bother him. He was fast asleep by now. The voices never talked again that night. So they must’ve left Archie Smith’s house. They must’ve left Maple Street.

It was morning. Archie Smith had just woken up. As he opened his droopy eyelids he jumped out of bed blindly. He walked downstairs in his pajamas.
“Good morning Archie!” Archie’s mother said.
“Go-od Mornnning,” Archie whimpered.
“What’s wrong?”
“Noothiiing Mooom.”
“Okay…just make sure you get ready for school before the bus arrives. You remember what happened last time.” Archie did remember what happened. He had eaten all of breakfast and was head upstairs and when he reached to his room he conked right out. Dead asleep. It made a loud THUD! His mom was concerned, but his dad said not to worry. So they didn’t. Well, all the way up to when the school called asking for Archie. And ever since then Archie’s mom always checked on him, every day. Archie got used to it. So then, he ate his corn flake cereal and ran upstairs into his room to get changed. He had all his clothes on now when he noticed a note on the window. He walked toward the window and picked the letter up. It was a thin smooth piece of paper of the letter. He looked on its sender's address. There wasn’t one. All it said was ARCHIE CHARLES SMITH. Who knows my whole name? He thought, and who could put a letter on this second story window? He tore the letter up it. Inside was a quite short and skinny note. Inside it read:
ARCHIE CHARLES SMITH,

You have been chosen to become part of an important organization. There is a meeting at the local junkyard in the eastern part of the place (by the cars masher) at 7:00. There is no option. You MUST go. Do NOT reply back.

Archie couldn’t believe his eyes. What organization? What meeting? And me? Why did they choose me? I’m just an average kid, he thought. This was all too confusing. He decided to put the note in his backpack. He would show his friends at school. He put the note in his pack. He grabbed his backpack and slung it over his shoulders as it slapped his back covered with a jacket. He rushed downstairs and looked for the school bus. Did the note mean 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM? He thought scarcely, Oh no. So as he stood there in the cold he thought. Should I dare? He thought. Then he turned on one side that would lead him to the dump. All he did was just stare out. He then saw the bus coming up the hill. It stopped and the door opened. He walked in and sat in the last back right seat. It was where him and his friends always sat. His friends Carl and Shanel were right there.
“Hey Arch,” both of them said.
“Hi,” Archie responded gloomily. Archie sat in the empty spot of the seat. They were silent for a few moments and then Archie brought the subject up.
   “I have a letter.”
   “Yeah, so?” Carl snorted.
“It’s an important letter. It has my full name on it. And it told me to come to this meeting at the-” One of the bullies Nick Gord was listening to all of the conversation. He quickly swiped the note from Archie. He opened it. As he read aloud it made Archie full with anger. He had never been this angry. It was such a horrible but suddenly good feeling. Suddenly in his mind and outside of his mind the entire world just paused. It was frozen. Nick Gord, Carl, Shanel and all the other kids on the bus were frozen. Even the bus driver was frozen! Archie stood there. He was the only one who could move. Amazing, he thought, I stopped time. But what is this? Speed, motioning time? Whatever it is I want it to stop! Suddenly everything around him started moving again.
“Wha-” Archie had realized he had destroyed the piece of paper.
“Nice going dork,” Nick Gord said. That mad Archie mad but then he figured what he might unleash on poor Nick. Then he thought, Wait, Nick’s an idiot. A mean kid. I don’t think that hurting him will do that much damage. Then as he was about to unleash his feelings about Nick the bus stopped and people started getting off the bus.
“See you later, dorkenstein.” Suddenly Nick tripped. It was not Archie but Shanel who had done that. All three of them laughed at Nick. He snarled as he got back up and walked away.

As the day went by Archie thought about that meeting. But most of all, he thought about the power he had had. Then again he might have just imagined that and grabbed it from Nick. He still thought about how everything was still. He remembered all of the note so he didn’t need the crumbled and ripped paper anymore. The day was very long. He waited and waited. First he went to math class. Then he went to social studies. After that he had science and boy did he have a picky partner. He wished he had Shanel who was in the same class but instead he had Amy Cougar. She was the most worst, crazy and mean science partner you ever had! She wanted all the work done by you, only you. What she did was polish her finger nails and talks jolly on her cell phone. And as Archie did the work he thought mostly about what he had been thinking about all day and suddenly his hand fell into the acid he was working with. And when Amy came walked over to be there when the teacher came over by their work she screamed.
“You’re hands in that acid!” she shouted. The teacher rushed over. He pulled Archie’s hand out of the acid. As everybody crouded up they stopped. Everybody froze. They could still move, but they were in aw at the completely fine hand of Archie Smith. It hadn’t disendigrated at all! Amy Cougar screamed again. The teacher took Archie out of the room.
“Come on young man, we are going to the nurse’s office.” He then started at the perfectly fine hand. “How-” he started to say. They had reached the nurse’s office. He took Archie in.
“Uh, could you check his pulse. Oh, and see if his hand is disfunctional.” The teacher walked away. After the nurse checked Archie and everything she took him back to his class.
“He’s fine,” the nurse told the teacher. The teacher had huge eyes. The nurse went back to her office. Then the teacher took Archie to where he was working. His teacher grabbed an apple. He dropped it in. It disenigrated. The teacher fell on the ground. He was amazed, but frightened. Then the bell rang. The teacher got up and told everybody to have a good day. But it looked like he said it to everyone except Archie.

As soon as Archie knew it it was 3:15. The school bell rang and kids rushed through the halls. Archie walked. He didn’t care. Suddenly behind him two people were calling his name. He turned around. It was Shanel and Carl. They caught up with him and followed him all the way up to the seat he sat it. They sat right beside him.
“Shanel told me what happened in science. That’s weird,” Carl told Archie. Archie didn’t answer. He looked sad. Almost as if he wer going to cry. He didn’t. They were silent all the way until it was Archie’s stop. He got off and waved. Thinking as he was, he felt like he was a superhero or just someone who was not all human. Then he thought about the meeting. Right when he got home he thought about calling Shanel and Carl. But something told him not to. He had dinner. It was about a half an hour but it felt like two hours. He was so nervous about the meeting. As he thought more and more about it the more he wanted to see who had written that letter. Later that night at about 6:30 he told his parents he would be going to Carl’s house and Shanel was going to be there. His parents asked when he would be back and he said around 9:00. He got a jacket on and started off on his bike to the dump. At first he had thought the dump was a dump. But now that someone wanted to meet him and telling him that it was important and him joining an organization he thought totally different about all of this.

This is part of the story (book) I have. I know, not that long of a chapter but a lot of this I'm still editing. Oh, and my book is around 200 pages. Grin
