65My Opinion: Although I didn't know much about this Pokemon until this Generation, I can say with a bit of confidence that this Pokemon was a breakout Pokemon in Plat. The addition of Bullet Punch was the primary boost. Combine it with Priority attacking, STAB, Swords Dance and Life Orb/Choice Band, this Pokemon is a force to be reckoned with.
Reccomended SetupNature: Adamant
Item: Choice Band/Life Orb
Ability: Technician
Function: Physical Swords Dance Sweeper
EVs:4 HP/252 Atk/252 Speed*
*looks at Smogon*, well, I would have probably come up with this anyway~Bullet Punch
~Swords Dance (duh)
~Roost/X-Scissor
~Brick Break/Superpower
Using Scizor:What makes Scizor such a threat is its monster attack stat. Maxing out his Attack EVs is a must. IF you have a lot of time on your hands, try to get him 31 IVs *stares at B~T* in Attack.
This set is fairy simple. Open up with a Swords Dance or two, use Roost if you have it and took damage while using Swords Dance, and pwn with Bullet Punch and Brick Break, Superpower.
Swords Dance is crucial to this set, so make sure you get it. Bullet Punch, combined with STAB, Swords Dance, Technician, etc, will get you 1HKOs easily. X-Scissor is a good move with similar power to Bullet Punch, but not really necessary. I'd choose Roost 9 times out of 10. And finally, the Fighting-Type moves, whichever you pick, contain brute power and deal with some would-be counters of this set.All in all, if you can raise Superpower's PP, it is probably the better choice.
Countering Scizor:Scizor's nine resistences and immunity to Poison *looks at Toxic Spikes* make it tough to count. Honestly, its above-average defenses leave only one way to counter it: Fire. Heatran is okay, but Brick Break/ Superpower can easily 1HKO it. All four of the Fire-Type Starter Pokemon can counter it, especially Charizard. Any Special Sweeper with a Fire-Type move and decent speed can make fairly quick work of Scizor.
