I dunno about the timeline, though. In the video games, we sorta infrence the timeline as it is, but the manga timeline perfectly matches the game releases. =/
Manga: R/B/G -> Y -> G/S -> C -> R/S -> FR/LG -> E -> D/P -> Plat
I'm not fully sure there is a timeline n the games, other than G/S/C happens after R/B/G/Y. =/

/EDIT: Random guess, but has anyone noticed that in the video ads for Kyogre and Groudon being available in HeartGold and SoulSilver, they had new girl for the Kyogre fight, and Gold for the Groudon fight? What I figure may be is that the new girl is named Heart ingame or so, and Gold is renamed Soul, which that old pic of Elm's lab would back up, as it mentions that Soul, who is Gold in the pic, had made Elm wait.
