No, a WEP key does not just apply to only Wi-Fi; it applies to everything the router does in general. The WEP key is basically a password to protect your router so that only you and your family can access the connection.

What I am concerned about is that someone else is using the same router for his or her internet, and I dunno if it is necessary to configure it for his or her laptop... He/She might complain at me for "tampering" with the router when I was just trying to protect it...
