Displaced

Galva took a wire out of an open panel. She sighed as she replaced the wire with another one and closed the panel. Light, previously red, returned to its normal white color. That was the fifth power outage of the week. Someone might think that it was on purpose... Galva thought, and walked away. She was sleepy, and maybe even afraid. After all, she has the right to be. It has been ten months since they left the endless ocean planet in search of a new home, somewhere far in space, and they are yet to see a single habitable world on their way. First they found a large desert world with an atmosphere, yes, but they couldn't make a landing before their engines sent the planet into temporal flux, as well as shattering it into three pieces. Turaga Takanuva said that the world was uninhabitable after that. But after passing that, they found nothing else. And now, nobody is sure if the starship can survive for long... Not after a plague wiped out the Skakdi and the Vortixx were killed when encountering the desert world...

Galva walked trough the corridors, lost. She didn't know where she ventured to, but the corridors there were badly damaged, sometimes leaking elemental energy. It all seemed lost, until she saw something move. It ran away as soon as Galva saw it, but came back, slowly and afraid, after it saw that she was unarmed. It moved forward, until the shape of a Matoran could be seen. After a few more steps, the color of the Matoran was proved to be a blend of purple and green, but it soon changed to lime green. Galva stood there, paralyzed with fear. Was the savage Matoran hostile? Or was it as afraid as she was?
Suddenly, Galva recognized the form in front of her.
«Tanma? » asked Galva, amazed. Five thousand years ago, before Takanuva gave his power away; Gavla and Tanma were very close friends. She was happy then, finally inside the society, but then Takanuva made Tanma a Toa, and Galva became an outsider again. When the Kingdom went into space to escape the exploding Great Spirit, Tanma was killed trying to hold the explosion for a few seconds longer for the ship to depart. And now, the two were together again...

«G-g-g-avla? » Tanma said, feeling strange. He was a Matoran again, a big shock to him.
«Where... am I...? » He continued, not recognizing anything. He never visited the ship before the final countdown started, and he had to go and sacrifice his life.
Gavla didn't know where she was, and didn't answer. Before, her relationship with Tanma was just friendship, but now, Gavla thought that it was so much more... She ran to Tanma, and hugged him. She almost got a heart attack when she passed straight trough him.
»What is it, Gavla? » Tanma asked, as Galva passed trough him.
«What... what...» Gavla couldn't say anything. There he was, the only person who would let Gavla be with him, the person who she realized was more then a close friend to her... But at the same time, he wasn't.

Gavla ran away, Tanma following her. Soon, she tripped, and smashed her head into a wall. Falling unconscious, she started hear voices, but she couldn't recognize any of them, nor hear what they are saying.
«Gavla? Gavla? GAVLA! » Yelled Tanma. Gavla finally woke up, but she wasn't glad to see the intangible Tanma again.
«Something is very wrong here...» Galva said, getting up quickly. She continued running away, Tanma still following her. But the voices caught up to her. Feeling dizzy, she sat down onto the floor and caught her head. She then screamed, as loudly as she could, hoping that someone would hear her and help her.
«She won't wake up...» Galva suddenly recognized one of the voices. It was Kirop's, and it sounded really upset. Tanma soon caught up with her, trying to snap her out of it. But he couldn't, as Gavla continued screaming. Tanma lay down next to her, and tried to talk to her. Suddenly, a cracking sound snapped Gavla out. Tanma was now gone, only his mask and sword remaining. Gavla looked around. The hallways were now rusty, and red lights illuminated them in place of the usual white. An energy leak was spreading along a conduit, and the accumulated energy could blow at any second...

Gavla ran as fast as her legs could carry her, each step fracturing the floor beneath her. Behind her, a wall of flame chased her. All around her, flashes of white indicated ruptures in conduits, and an explosion knocked her to the ground. As the metallic floor started to disintegrate, she knew that the end would come soon... She would not the first one to disappear without a trace inside the corridors, one of the reasons why she, at first, declined her job. But soon she realized that if she kept running away from her troubles, they would only catch up to her once, when she wouldn't be able to fight. When she first ventured into these hallways, she was afraid, but the fear was gone after a few days. Working inside the corridors was though, to keep a starship running almost single handedly, but she did it well. But now... as the end was near, she couldn't help but to think of times past. She closed her eyes...

«Her life patterns are losing coherence! » Yelled Kirop, standing above an open stasis chamber, with an almost lifeless Gavla inside. It has been ten months since the members of the Kingdom left for another planet, and they reached it. All of the stasis chambers released their occupants, except for Gavla's. Kirop was worried.
«Turn up the power! » He yelled, hoping that he can shock his patient into living. It didn't work.
»AGAIN!! » he yelled. Nothing. He then personally charged a light blast into his light scalpel, and shot it at Gavla. She woke up, disorientated.

«What... happened...? Tanma...» She whispered, as Kirop jumped up in joy.
«You're alive! We thought we lost you. Welcome to Terra Magna, Gavla. There was a malfunction in your stasis chamber... you remained in the virtual reality until it, apparently, collapsed into itself. » Kirop said, and showed the confused Gavla their new home. Large forests dominated the land as far as the eye could see, and Visorak started cutting trees down for a settlement. Gavla suddenly remembered it all. The departure, the stasis... the attack of the Rahkshi and how Tanma really died, defending the ship against a horde of rebellious Skakdi. She decided to let go of Tanma, at least for now. But before she did, she went outside. Finding a bush of beautiful red flowers, each with five rounded petals, she took one, and went into a clearing made by the Visorak. In the middle of it, statues were being erected by Po Matoran carvers. She ran to the one that resembled Toa Tanma, and placed the rose next to it.

»To the only person I could love in this whole twisted world...» She whispered, and walked away.

THE END

Some of you got the message that I will get back to writing. This is NOT what I meant. I made this for the BZP SSC, and it completly failed. I still have two stories in the writing, so don't wory, though!
I just wanted to get this here on the appropriate day.
Well, read or not, whatever...
