Ok, "ya'll, I'm about to do my impression of the poem chef"

There is a goal we all do seek
if only we had a little peak

I speak of a goal, that says who we are
a dream that we dream, that seams to far

So get on the bus, or get on your bike
Just heed my words, and you'll be on the hike

If what you wish, is your dream come true
Then believe in yourself, it's the only way through

Fine, fine. *think, think, think* *snaps fingers* Here's a Thanksgiving one:

Red leaves drifting in the wind
Cold air nipping at your face
Here comes that time of year again
All gather round the table for Grace

Bright sun shining in the East
Time's are merry, hear the joyful laughs
We're all ready for a grand old feast
So loosen up your belt by half

Another month come by, what shall we see?
A baby in a manger, underneath the star
Season of love and grace and glee
The arrival of the new year not so far

Eh, not my best poem... *shrugs*

I thought it was cool pal, very sweet and heart felt and neet...

My second entry is thus, so get on the bus...

I decided at about 3 am this morning that my second entry to 2 of 9's X-prize contest would be my LU treehouse, the entrance that is, I also decided to expand the poem a little, the original is still on my MLN page, behold...
              The entrance to the Universe

There's an entrance, don't you know?
To a place, we all must go.

Now show us who'll you be,
In the Universe, you will see.

All our friends are there, so don't despair.
This place is for us, so get on the bus!

And when you arrive in a place of wonder...
Endeavour to strive, take time to ponder

     No doubt you'll be wowed,
         In creations so proud,

A little brick here and a little brick there
soon you will have, the power to dare...

So give us a sign, that you will be there
just one more rhyme, and you will have a pair..

The pair will arise
    to build and surprise

Can you guess who they are
    in a Universe, to far.

Behold the entrance, carefull though, Billy-Bob is hungry

On request of the marvelous host, I'll be posting another poem here:

Remember the Day
A time for joy, a season for love
Because of one boy, because of Him above
A night we remember, a day to give thanks
Because of a Savior, because it’s Christmas Day
So take time this season, take a moment to spare
Remember the reason, acknowledge the heir
Relive the glory, relive the day
Ponder His story, think of the Way
Born in a manger, born in humility
He was no stranger, He is family
A plan had been made, a plan for our souls
The way had been paved, this narrow, eternal road

A truly cool poem Flash, maybe one of the best you've ever written. Very nice indeed and heart felt aswell.

So I guess this means it's my turn and then we award each other some prizes, not falling for it eh, k, I'm the prize department, well..

You did Christmas as a Saviour born among us to save our souls, I think I'll do one about friends, for they have the ability to save your soul aswell...

As I walk and move through this thing we call Life
As I endeavour to control a thing we call strife

The mistakes I've made
The challenges I've met
Though I'm still afraid
On that you can bet

And when that mistake is made
We may have to count on a friend

When you didn't make the grade
A cry for help that you must send

The mistakes forgiven
By friends so wise
make you feel living
So once more, we're on the rise

So when in doubt, count on a friend
There will always be times when you slip
For they have the power to mend
In those times when you've lost your grip

I've been working for nine tenths out of the last 3 days, how good would your poem be?

For Flash, you Rock pal, you're poems are the best, which means you win TWO FIRST PRIZES, keep entering pal, maybe the rest of these brickers will join in soon.

Poems are fun and a real challenge sometimes, sometimes they may just sound like sunshine, and you'll have yourself something that you can say..."Yeah, I wrote that" and then feel really cool about it.

Write a poem eh...next contest begins now

Thanks Legodac, and a great poem yourself. I guess that comes from good experience.

Here's a haiku...

White snowflakes
They drift and they float
Upon the wind they flitter
Drifting to the ground
From the clouds they come to earth
Until they melt have away

I know I may have asked this before, but could someone please explain what a Haiku is to me please ?

Whatever it is, it looks well written, nice job Flash and thanks for entering again.

I sent you 6 CSU's in MLN for your efforts and congrats aswell, I'm so happy you keep entering, I will aswell.

To all, please enter, write a poem or 2, you may discover it's not so hard to do
and on that note, perhaps I'll say this, you could write a poem, that descibes your bliss

For you see that within us all
There is a power that yearns to grow
And once released, you cannot fall
A power un-named, this much I know

Now you are asking, what this power could be
you wonder too, if it is within you
For it's simple you see, to share is to be free
So now you see the power of creation, all that's left, is for you to do

So share with us what moves you on
Fear is an option, that will always be there
What dare will you take, for some simple fun
so share your creativity, it's your soul you must share

I've done better, but hey, it's just some fun...eh  Wink

BTW, Flash's poem and mine, are both entered in number nine, So share with us a poem devine, this is your chance to show and shine

A haiku is a Japanese form of writing. It's a poem of sorts, but under a different structure. Usually having to do with nature, and a certain structure of syllables in each line.

Thanks, but I'm still a little fussy on the structure of sylables thing. I wonder if there's a place that would explain it in detail?

Kind of like this... the numbers showing how many syllables are needed in each line:'

(1)
3
5
7
(5)
(7)
(7)

The ones in (parentheses) are the ones that are sometimes left out.

Here we go Tongue

I just logged on
It has been so long
Almost seems wrong
Like pizza in Hong Kong

I want to be best
So I scan the contests
These poems I've studied
With all my school buddies

They never get old
They cannot be sold
They may be forgotten
But they never turn rotten

I then scroll down
And my face is a frown
Though once filled with joy
My mind now bitter as soy

I wonder and think
Don't bother to blink
I wish I could know
Why this thing is so

Everything is in a mix
Oh poor little six
Every number got their spot
But 6 is dot, dot, dot

Cannot it count?
This screen on its mount
It stares at me so
At M-L-N-O

My comp is mocking
Like coal in a stocking
Every number has their spot
But six is dot, dot, dot...

In other words, I get bugged when pages go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...,7 I mean, the 6 is even smaller than a "..." =/ *starts throwing things* anyways, yeah, that's my entry, I guess.

WOW, a truly original poem Micah, thanks for entering.

As you can see, I'm back, though I won't be on every day, I will endevour to get here on MLNO a few times a week.

So let's carry on with the poem contest, who has one that they would like to submit in competition to Micah's, I know he won't mind that I'm late, so we'll run the contest to the end of April, then get back on track after that with the bi-monthly format.

Or how about the end of December 2011?  Wink
What do you MLNOers think?
Shall we have a poem show down to celebrate Christmas, the new year and all our time together?
Seems we have a lot of creative people here and I for one, would like to revive this contest in the new year.

For now though, how do YOU feel about sharing a poem to celebrate whatever it is that makes you happy?  SmileyClap

As promised, (and only the Lego God knows how I found this) we need a new poem contest and as you can see from the prior post, I'm right on schedule.

To make a long story short, look at my new signature, I have chosen 4 pics and then added a rhyme to suit each one in consecutive order.

The challenge or NEW FORUM GAME is this...

First person (likely me) chooses 4 pictures and then posts them, next poster then makes up a rhyme to suit the four pictures, when that task is complete, that person now has an option to offer 4 pictures to be rhymed or they may do the opposite, offer a 4 line rhyme that must be answered with four pictures.

Complicated, time consuming, certainly not effortless eh.

This is a prototype post, what do you think
