based on my previous experiences with them, some of which i deleted, I do not think that it is automated. for example, I sent an email with a suggestion for the next pellet module, because i felt that the electro-pellet inductor module was too slow, and here is their reply:
Dear (Name removed) Thank you for contacting us on 03/12/09 and for your interest in LEGO® brand products. LEGO enthusiasts are so creative and always thinking of new ways to use their collection of LEGO bricks. It’s super that you actually imagined a new type of product and wanted to tell the LEGO Group about it. As you know, you can turn your LEGO spaceship into a robot one day and an astronaut the next-the possibilities are endless with LEGO products! You can build a new model every day-a unique “one and only original” -just like you! Although we're flattered that you chose to share a special idea with us, we aren't allowed to use LEGO consumers' suggestions for new sets or other related items. This policy is in place because we have invested considerable resources in our own product-development department in Denmark. (Many boys and girls think the people who work in that department are lucky! Just imagine designing and building new sets all day long!) Once designed and approved, molds must be created for new elements, and instructions and packaging must also be designed and made. You should be quite proud that you are creative like the people who work for our Company - give yourself a pat on the back! We, too, are proud of your efforts: you are a certified LEGO enthusiast. Thank you again for contacting us. We wish your family many happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come. Christopher LEGO Direct Consumer Services
or this one, which is a reply to a problem i had with the bionicle site:
Dear (name removed) > Thank you for your email from 03/09/09 regarding our web site. > > We are sorry you had a problem with our online LEGO® Club games. > > I did some further research and found that once you have completed the Bionicle® mini rank in My LEGO Network. Berix and Tarix will no longer give you artifacts, because you will no longer need them. I hope this helps you with your > continued enjoyment of LEGO online games. > > Thank you again for contacting us. We wish your family many happy hours of creative building with LEGO brand toys in the years to come. > > Rebecca > LEGO Direct Consumer Services
