I agree with Tim.  Blade has a lot of good stuff in his time as staff, and I'm not against him getting a staff position in the future.  Unfortunately this joke and the previous things with those other random japanese names were violations of the rules (no dual-accounts and pretending you're someone you're not) and drove some members to anxiety.  In this regard he seems to have become used to having this power, losing touch with the fact that he can't just do crazy pranks just because he's an admin, and I think the best way to fix that would be for him to be a regular member again for a time.

I wasn't present when chase did whatever he did, but from what I've been told, he pretended he was a hacker and gave the forum a good scare.  He was given a good thrashing for it.  I fail to see how this prank is different, regardless if it was a post-April Fools thing.
I can't help but notice that all of the staff (Including me) were in a position to stop Blade if it got to that point. Other then those who were absent during the incident...

If we had tried, it would have turned into a staff war, which would probably have upset the forum more.  As it was, I had things to do and as such I stated I would be absent and not be held responsible for the imminent failure of the joke.

Good point, I posted right after CRX during the incident in question

That's very true about Chase.  Just because Blade is an Admin that shouldn't change his punishment.

I concede you may have been busy elsewhere, however I can't agree with your statement about further disruption when peoples feelings where about to be hurt. If admins don't argue now and then that usually means you're not going anywhere.

He stays!!!!!!!
I didn't want him out of the administration when I posted my suggestions!
Why?
Well, I made that mistake too. Blade made it once too, Ogichi was actually kinda fun...
If he is demoted, then I want to be demoted too, as when I did Arkano, I wasn't removed from the staff.
Also, he is a great admin. Without him, this forum would fall apart. Besides, he is a great friend even though he can act irrationally sometimes... But still, you won't find anyone better to take his place, believe me.
agreed, Rakoua. you are absolutely correct.

I would question the perceived effectiveness of an unstable government warring against itself.  We don't need members to think the leaders are fighting for control of the forum.  It seemed better to me at the time to let Blade do his thing and tell anyone that PMed me (when I was on at least) that things were alright.

It's only accessible by staff
I thought this would be a good time to drag this over, remember, I still want Blade in as I have stated several times already.

Oh well, I think it's time I opened my big mouth. But I promise, I won't drag on to much.
Let's start with this...Hidden until next year. And the archives shouldn't be visible to normal members..., Wow, I can't remember the last time I walked into a library and was told that I couldn't view history because I was only normal. So I guess that means it makes no sense for me to be able to view the first few posts in this place I almost started to call home. Democracy is wonderfull word, it's the best political system so far, I'm beginning to wonder what you guys are basing your policies on.
If these things are hidden for convenience then maybe you need to address the possibility that you need more mods.
Yes some things should be hidden, like forums that were hidden to begin with. If it's too much info, than ZIPLOCK it, to be unzipped if a viewing is desired by a so called NORMAL MEMBER, like myself.

That last sentence has nothing to with the honour you bestowed on MsRR. When you say that someone has just recieved one of the highest awards in the MLNO, you don't turn and say a while later, that you're going to make it hidden.
That's simply ridiculous and disrespectful, and dishonours the award and the person you spoke so highly of a short time ago.
I don't think the people who run the Cocky Hall of Fame, oops, I mean Hockey,
have Bobby Orr or Jacque Plante archived in the basement.

These words are for all and are not directed at any one. However, I would like the Hierchy to read these words more then once.
I recommend a book from the library, it's called "The Peter Principle". It's a short but powerfull read. It's about Hierchys.
It simply states that in ones climb up the perverbial ladder, some will eventually reach their level of incompetence.

Oh yeah, read the orange words below too

Excellent point there. I don't think we have rules that say admin punishments differ from members.

@legodac. I quite agree with you concerning the archives and we may open those up to "NORMAL MEMBERS", as you call them, soon.

Actually they don't call it warring, they call it debate like in the legislature, besides, would you reconsider that statement if the half dozen people who threatened to quit, actually did

I don't think anybody's tense, I would never look down my nose at any staff member here, especially CRX, I simply didnt agree with his analogy of politics. To pick up the tone again again, I'll say again in other words, There is the possibility in all gain of power that eventually it will be abused in some way and yes, even with the best of intentions. In a previous post here I told everyone about my mistake in The MLN Maniacs, All I'm saying is, I can't imagine how much work you guys have to do and the more you do, the more you'll succeed and yes, fail as well. I speak of proportions.
Thankyou for giving us access and "Normal members" wasn't my line.
BTW, you might want to set a guideline as to access to the archives, No copying and Pasting elsewhere, Archives for reading only to avoid confusion and posts taken out of context.

I agree that Blade has done a great job as admin, and been a good friend to many of us as well. He has done a tremendous amount of work on behalf of this forum, to the benefit of us all.  Additionally, Blade was not alone in this, as I understand it was all laid out in the Staff forum, and everyone but NWJ who was absent saw it.
So in essence ALL the staff was involved. Dudebot played a large role as well and others had supporting roles.
Their actions were ill advised, but I am not certain severe staff reforms are in order.
I I do not think either Blade or Dudebot meant to harm the forum, any more than Rakoua did last time.

Chase intended to wreak havoc, and had little or no consequences that we could see. He still had his full freedom as a member.
Please bear this in mind.

Additionally, I believe that Blade has put in more "on duty" time than most  of the staff.
He has at times, let his "power" go to much to his head, that is true, but I sense no benevolent intention.

I dislike these pranks, as most of you know, and last time when I thought Rakoua was unfairly treated I was truly ready to leave this forum.
As a parent & grandparent I have faced many times when I have had to administer consequences in order to redirect someone's behavior.
There are always multiple alternatives.
There must be some task or tasks that have been left undone, that he can be made responsible for for few days to a week?? ( Perhaps the spam in off- topic, as many of the mods never seen to go there unless a post is flagged or reported?)

I will not vote at this moment, but I am opposed to having all of Blades hard work thrown away for what he invisioned as a harmless prank.

Again, remember, Chase suffered NO visible loss of freedom, despite the fact that his intent was admittedly nefarious.

MsRR always has good points, and I always end up agreeing with them. Blade is probably the most active admin, so throwing him out would not be a good idea. However, pulling stunts like these is not great for the forum and many members do not realise that what Blade and co do is only a prank. Many of the things he has done in the past have posed no real threat to the forum, and as far as I can remember the only rules he has broken have been stated by CRX on the first page(i think): creating duplicate accounts and pretending to be hacked.
I voted that Blade should stay an admin, however, pranks such as this should not be done at all, or at least not without prior warning to specific members, and especially not done forum wide. Saying that you are gonna take complete control of the forum is not good for attracting new members...

I'm not really sure what went on this weekend, since I was busy with our churches new "drama" team, but I think Blade should still stay an Admin.
He's the one I always go to for help, and he never complains about helping me. Sure, his jokes can get a little out of hand, but this forum wouldn't be the same without Blade.

In light of the support y'all are showing him, despite having been the subjects of his jokes, I would like to change my stance.  He has my blessing to remain staff, but I would like him to take a serious look at this, be thankful he has such a loyal constituency, and make sure he doesn't abuse it again.

To the prior post by CRX, well said.

My next statement is not to prove Nwj345 wrong, simply to show where I found it, it was after all, what inspired me to post my words on making archives accessible to all, which seemed to bring on another change as well
