well, personally I don't like the idea of getting rep just for being good at building with Legos.  I think rep should be reserved for special things. Also, I think it should be more about building from scratch, not redesigning existing sets.

Build what you WILL, that option is wide open, as for rep awarding talent, incentive is all in life, if you don't have incentive, you're going nowhere. BTW herochild, what defines special to you, let's hear it for once, you kids keep talking about rules and regulations, yet you lack the experience to back up a challenge, I submit. BTW, what the brick is not special about being a good Lego Modeller

I love the idea! But I'm kinda confused, would we all just get a random set to redesign, or would we all go buy the exact same set, and redesign it? I also don't think there should be an age limit, since redesigning sets is more about creativity, and creativity doesn't vary much with age.

You could be surprised by how your creation ends up... Plus, you could check the MOC Corner for ideas, remake them and test out your own, to improve.
