Legodac, you realize that the idea of a building contest has been approved, but I'm just waiting for a good time to start the official contest, right? In fact, technically it's been approved for a long while, just not the theme, which I'm pretty sure passed as two people agreed and no-one else bothered to comment on it. =P Awards, I'm not sure, but there'll definitely be a sprite award of some sorts, as I want to make the awards thing be used more.

Well Blade, that's cool, so we just need to iron out some details, the theme is almost there, redesigning of sets is out I think. I also think that experience is out as well, since I think it was Micah477 who said it has nothing to do with age, which is true.

So the theme would be simple, your creation scratch built, wether or not you redesign from an existing set.

We are all the same in creations eyes.

We all vote at the end of the month, which brings up the question, Do we have enough time to start this before Christmas, or should we wait to begin this ringing in the New Year?

I think that last question depends on how fast we can set things up.

As I recall, we still need to decide on the awards and the two I've suggested I still agree with, a trophy, oh wait, what about trophies for first second and third place, the way KF did it with a twist. You would be awarded with a 1, 2, or 3rd place trophy placed for everyone to see where we put our FMotM awards. Perhaps a Lego brick with a 1, 2 or 3 inside on a stand, or the stand is the Lego Brick with the 1,2 or 3 on top?

Details pending, this contest should be a community decision as to how it's layed out.

The last point is the rep thing, and if we turn to placement as to 1, 2 and 3rd place, then I think first is when you get the rep. I offered that you could only win once every six months, which would meansome points I don't understand fully, like when Blade trys to make me understand about the bandwidth thing.

Bottom line is this...and these are the details we need to all agree upon

Your entry is your own creation, and out of fairness to, it must be Brand Spanking New, a creation, just for us and this contest. what you do with it afterwards is none of this contests business. In other words, I can't use any of my past creations to enter, this is a good idea.

At the end of the month, we all vote on who we believe is first second and third and....


You need not enter to vote, whereby increasing popularity of the contest aswell as member turnout for the forum.


The winners, as in 1st, 2nd and 3rd all recieve trophies that will be displayed where we show the FMotM trophies. The details as to how often one can win need to be ironed out as does the rep issue, if we actually decide to apply it.

On that note of rep, I still believe that offering that additional incentive will exponentialy increase turnout and make a few people, like KF said, come here more often, and that's what it's all about...

              So what do you think?

I think those rules sound good, it would be a good replacement to the Monthly Contests, seeming as no one seems to enter them any more... It does sound rather like the X Prize now I think of it, but the X Prize is a one off I think, so I say we should start on New Year's Day.

I have to agree, New Year's Day sounds about right, it will not only give us a chance to organize this, but it will give us a chance to come up with something really cool eh...

Yes, if we start it now, it would be hard to organize when the contests should finish. And it will mean we have some new ideas for the 2010 forum.

Good points, however if we're gonna move forward with everyones opinion stated you should tell us what you think about the rep issue and award. This is the biggest hurdle.

I think there should be an award, but for rep... well, it's quite hard, you'll want to reward people for their work, but perhaps, and I doubt this will be a good idea but, if you won the contest, you get +1 rep, get second twice, +1 rep, and get third thrice, +1 rep. So basically, this is how it may go:
1st = +1 rep
2 seconds = +1 rep
3 thirds = +1 rep
Hmm... post your ideas, even I'm unsure about this system.

Totally awesome idea, let us see if we got this straght?
1 rep for 1st place
1 rep for second place if you win it twice and
1 rep point for winning 3rd place three times, I think that's an awesome, down to earth and really cool plan.

Now, what about time constrictions, I suggest that no matter how you got your rep, you can only get the rep once every six months, but you still get the trophies, unlimited when won, what do think?

BTW, FYI, this contest has been approved, but we need everyone's input to make it the ultimate,

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Perhaps we could have a white trophy with 1 on it for First one time, then a yellow/white trophy for the second win, then yellow, then green/yellow, then green... in other words, have the colours of the awards different for the amount of times you've won the awards (like Martial Art belts, I was doing Tae Kwon Do there).

The contests will be every few months. It won't always be about building, to give a fair chance to others who may not be the greatest at building. The possibility of there being rep is over 50%, but I have yet to talk to the staff about that.

There will likely be multiple trophies... But they will differ between the contests, possibly varying based on the theme, if there's enough room in what I'm limited to. That being said, it'd be easier to know that you've won a trophy twice or three times in a certain place, and also tell which it was won in.

I had been hoping to start it this month, but it slipped my mind, but due to the simple nature of the theme, I think it may still be able to start, as like a kick-off to these, with further themes being thought up later by the staff.

And the rep limit... That may actually work. That way, we could still award rep to the winners, but it wouldn't become a farming place. Team Competitions still won't have rep though.

Oh, and a slight note... The rules will probably be based off a revised version of the first MLNO-wide(And failed) contest.

We already have the model building, but it may be to late to get that one going.

Idea 1... Christmas poetry, a contest in creative writing
Idea 2... Creative writing, with a Christmas theme, both poetry and short stories allowed

I have lots more, but I think idea 2 would be best for kicking this off this month

The first theme is already set in stone. And again, this will be simple to start, so I doubt that you guys will have problems, as it would end on New Year's Eve/Day. I may extend this first contest to be a two-month contest so that people can vote and such, while still having enough time to get entries done.

Maybe when your idea overlapped with an existing proposal? In all technicality, the idea had already existed, it just had failed at first because I kept waiting for more people to enter.
