I find it amazing that the USA was once the most powerful, most intelligent, most advanced, most evolved, and most free country in the world.
DAE AmeriKKKa?
That was before welfare and other programs that demoralized people and negated the work ethic... and before we decided we had to take care of the whole world.
DAE non-sequiturs? Many other Western democracies are much more social than the US.
WE are NOT a democracy... we are a Republic.
I'd more actively assert us as a democratic republic. If you want to get exceedingly technical, then:
"Many other Western republics are much more social than the US."
Since, y'know, more or less all of them use a representative government as well.
Point still stands.
actually, we are trying very hard to become a Capitalist State.
We always were driven by capitalism, really.
Now, don't get me wrong: I'm strictly opposed to the idea of a meritocracy; I have some socialist leanings (though I believe that pure anything, capitalist, communist, socialist, whatever, is bad). But really, a lot of these "recent" developments aren't so recent (more like continuations of trends), and I wouldn't say that everything is inherently bad.
tl;dr I think you're both wrong, but MsRR is completely and objectively wrong while mtm is not really looking at the broader picture.
