I wouldn't flat out say that, but they're definitely bad in some ways. Good in others. They can really save people's butts in some situations, but they can also save the butt of the person who really shouldn't be saved.

Unions once had a very real and important place in our country.. worker safety and such.. but now that the laws have all been written they serve little purpose and due to corruption, do more harm than good.
Right now Chicago teachers are on strike, and tey already make 76000 a year on average... some of the highest in the country.

Well, what's the cost of living in Chicago? And what are the risks for the teachers? The type of environment that they're in could be causing this strike, amongst other things. And they don't make 76K a year on average, unless that's the very top of the payscale.

That's one public spokesperson. If the average is that much, that means that starting pay is around $55K a year, and it isn't. Though they might be including private schools, which could potentially alter that.

They are holding out for a 35% pay increase when they have been given a reasonable offer.. and private school teachers are not in the union AFAIK..

Teachers here barely make $30K, I think its closer to $25K a year.
