SWTOR 1.5 is out, and SWTOR is now Free to Play.
There are now only two reasons not to play:
1: You don't like Star Wars (in which case, you are likely not a human, but a cabbage wearing a fedora)

2: Your computer can't handle it. (In which case, you're Blade)

4. It is not the greatest game ever, like you seem to think, and it has quite a few flaws.

5. You'd rather not play a MMO that's probably going to die within the next few years, or not play one at all. (pretty much 90% of all of them right now)

My problem with the world right now is that people are afraid to criticise the things they like because they think they will be mistaken for disliking it, and instead praise it at all costs. But without criticism, things cannot improve. If you don't know what's wrong with something, how are you going to fix it?

4: I never said it's the greatest game ever. Majora's Mask, Tales of the Abyss 3D, and Kid Icarus Uprising are what I consider the best games ever.

5: If it's going to die in the next few years (which it isn't, but I refuse to debate this because you'd never convince me and I'd never convince you), then why not try it now? It costs no money, and you might as well experience it before it dies. Not liking MMOs, however, is a perfectly valid reason, though that would be better filed under 3.

And as for criticizing the things I like - I often email the makers of products (such as SWTOR) about the things that I feel make it worse. But if I'm having fun overall, I don't see the point in going on message boards and yelling "THIS GAME SUCKS!!!!!1!!!"

Canama: It's quite good as long as you play Empire. The vast majority of the bugs have been fixed and it's very fun. The main problems are that endgame is boring (and endgame isn't part of F2P anyway), and that the Republic stories are not as well written as the Empire ones.

The thing's been hemorrhaging subscribers, and considering the steep costs to make it it's proving a massive loss. Honestly, the fact that it couldn't make it a year without going F2P is telling.

That editorial is just someone's opinion, not a fact. Personally, I disagree with that editorial,  but that's an opinion too.
