So, my dad went on a buisness trip to Germany. On his way, he went to the LEGO store in Munich and got me the tank and a few 16x8 baseplates. So, I'm doing a review of the tank.
I got the box late at night when he returned to Rakoua HQ. I was delighted, it looked awesome. Perfect for pieces, and it seemed to be an enjoyable build.
So I waited out school and sleep and started building!
First I spilled the pieces. There are a lot of them, and most arre small. All are usefull, and there are no specialized pieces. Nothing looked particularly interesting though in my eyes, as I had most of those pieces at home. This doesn't minimize the effect tho.
First you build the minifigs, and what minifigs they are... While the jedi guy (Nope, I don't like star wars enough to know the characters. So I don't want to sound stupid. But I allready do, don't I?)
(I bet that sounded noobish.)
(It did, didn't it)
Anyway, the jedi guy is uninteresting. The pirates are awesome tho. All have printed backs, and backs of their heads. One of them even has a printed ponytail on the back of his head and torso! And his headband also goes around his entire head. All in all, awesome.
Next you start with the build. It's quite interesting, the only repetitive parts being the large engines. Stickers look awesome on this set, actually, and give it a nice feel. The first thing you build is the ejection mechanism, which lifts a minifig up from behind the pilot, splitting that part of the ship in two. It's very nice. Other noteworthy things are the use of harpoons as some sorts of sensors or whatever they are and the use of the mudshield piece for the gun. The other parts are staightforward but still very fun...
Next comes playability. After you've built it, playing with it is irresistable. The flick fire missiles don't work well tho. I made some modifications to that system to allow then to fire up to 3 feet and I also modified the front one to rotate. It makes for a more complete playing experience. Otherwise, it just looks inviting to play with. It's quite large too. The whole thing is on wheels that roll nicely and never fall off. The ejection mechanisim for the minifig in the back also works nicely.
And the thing just looks plain awesome. I don't have a pic of it on my display along with my creations tho...
