"I'm not completely sure, but I think we just survived a Resonance Cascade.  It's a bizzare, cataclysmic event so powerful it can redirect the flow of time, open portals to other dimensions, and even separate peoples' souls from their bodies.  Of course, most people don't know about that last one..."

Mostly ignoring Lloyd, Bailey simply lashes out with her foot faster than the eye could follow, kicking him hard in the groin.  She then uses the same leg to stomp viciously on Rose's unpinned left shoulder.

OOC: So, right arm still pinned, left shoulder stomped.

"Resonance Cascade... Odd. That sounds familiar for some reason; sounds like something that happened in an old game from the past I've heard about. Weird, that." Carrie said, finding that intriguing.

Lloyd's eye twitched in pain, as he grabbed a chair for support, but then gripped the back of a second chair, and attempted to throw it toward Bailey as best as he could.

Bailey grabbed Rose and used her as a shield against the chair.  She then kicked Rose into Lloyd.

[The Truth]

Rose broke free from Bailey, avoided hitting Lloyd, batted her eyelashes at him, and kicked Bailey in the nose.

Bailey turns her head at the last moment, the kick landing on her her cheek instead.  She stumbles back against the shelf, and the glass case with the dagger hits the floor and shatters.  Bailey snatches it up, but a kick from Rose sends it into the sample vat of Professor Reclumen's knockout poison.  Rose slams Bailey against the desk, and Bailey deflects the hands headed for her neck.  She fumbles around behind her--aha!  The pulls the poison-coated dagger from the desk and slashes it across Rose's shoulder, easily cutting through the thin fabric of the uniform.  Bailey manages to push Rose away, and already she can see the poison taking effect.  She turns her attention to Lloyd.  "Now, as for you..." she growls, tossing the dagger from hand to hand.

[The Truth]

Rose stood..and a strange glow came from where the dagger had hit. The wound healed, with no sign of poison.

Lloyd looked at Rose as the wound healed, a weird sensation that things weren't right entering his mind not just for the first time, as he got into a defensive position, ready to fight if he really needed to.
Why don't things seem right? Why does none of this seem like it should be happening like it is? Lloyd thought, as doubt crept into his mind for a moment.

Bailey tires of the fight, and grabs her pistol from the desk.  The students in the directed study program were supposed to be armed with pistol that could only be set to stun, but there had been those rumors Bailey had been allowed into Bartok's vault...
A boy with mousy, straw-colored hair  and glasses glances nervously at Lloyd and Rose.  He shakes his head imperceptibly.  This wasn't a fight they could win--not under Imperial rules.  Bailey could do practically anything she wanted while she was on-duty; they'd have to pick their battles to avoid fighting on her terms.
"Shut up and sit down, and I'll consider not taking you to Bartok.  Or just shooting you where you stand."

Lloyd chuckled, and then laughed, as he looked at Bailey.
"You gotta catch me, then." Lloyd said, as he dashed to the side, as he scanned the surroundings in an attempt to find anything that he could use somehow... Anything.

OOC: To end the fight, here's a scripted event.  also, I need to PM truth something, so hang tight!

The doors suddenly unsealed, and Lloyd rushed into the hallway.  Bailey glared at Rose.  "Be glad your little boyfriend is going to take the fall for you.  DON'T cross me again."

Bailey grabbed  her stuff raced out of the room.  Her last collar had taken a duct right about...here.  Bailey kicks a certain spot on the wall, and the grate clangs open.  She chuckled to herself.  If only these fools knew what she knew about this place...

Climbing above the hallway to the VIP hangar, Bailey lets herself down into the hallway, when she hears someone behind her inhale sharply.

Justin nearly dropped his weapon when he saw Bailey's lithe form lower itself from the ceiling.  Which was a good thing, really; Father would be very unhappy if he managed to shoot a fellow officer.  Justin sighed.  Officer.  Was that really his fate?  The Empire was so strict, so harsh...could anyone truly find happiness here?  Then, the Imperial insignia on Bailey's jumpsuit caught his eye.  Her form-fitting, very flattering jumpsuit...

Then again...he thought to himself.

Bailey whirled around at Justin's intake of breath.  "Jus-Kronos! what are you doing here??  Get out of sight!"
"Huh?" Justin mumbled, still distracted.
Bailey heard footsteps coming up the otherwise-deserted hall, and she quickly ducked inside a supply closet.  Lloyd skidded to a halt when he saw Justin, but it was too late; Bailey slammed open the door in Lloyd's face, knocking him to the floor; a few moments later, she had bound him hand and foot and gagged him with stun cord.  She held the activator button up to Lloyd's face, then "accidentally" dropped it on the floor, activating the shock pulse.  From Lloyd's writhing, she had apparently made some "modifications" to the original charge amount.  After about a minute of watching Lloyd writhe in pain, she turned to Justin.
"So, Kronos, wanna take him to Bartok and watch the fun?"
"Uh, I er, uh...I...my father, he...wants me to study with him again tonight."
"Of course." Dr. Kronos' son was well-known for his diligent study habits.  Well, among everyone but the doctor himself, apparently.  Bailey found it rather annoying that she could never seem to get a moment alone with him.  "I have some work to do with the doctor tonight, anyway, so I'll see you tonight!  Duty calls!"  Tossing Lloyd over her shoulder, she left Justin stammering in the hallway.

In the detention center, Bartok raised an eyebrow at Bailey's appearance.  "Another one?"
"They line up, I knock 'em down."  Bailey decided not to mention she'd let Rose go.
Bartok took a look at the bruise on Bailey's cheek.  "I take it this one was a decent fight, at least."
Bailey snorted.  "The little jerk stood up to me in a class.  I sealed the doors, he didn't have a chance to run.  At least, until something caused the doors to open.  Get someone to look into it, we can't afford a malfunction if we need a facility-wide lockdown."  Bartok grunted.  Bailey took it as a yes.  She started out the door, when she spotted Rose in the hallway, among a group of other students.  Bailey turned back towards the still-open doors.  "Oh, and Bartok?  Make him suffer."  The doors slid closed, and Bailey shoved past a horrified Rose.
Bartok chuckled darkly.  "With pleasure."

OOC: Class is out.  I'm gonna PM Truth something, Blade, so don't panic!

Lloyd growled, as his eye twitched, not seemingly able to take the pain; however, he didn't want to give up now, and in between flashes of colour in his vision from the pain, Lloyd looked for something that he might be able to use to get out of this mess that he had gotten himself in.
Well that was certainly one of the worst decisions I've made. Lloyd thought, and while he didn't pause in looking around, definitely found that odd.
I could've sworn that I've thought that before... But why would I have...? Something's definitely off...

Lloyd growled slightly, though something seemed... Weird. But; the fact is that that simply made him growl again, the reason for that being unknown to him still, even as he glared up at Bartok. However, he then stopped, and simply smirked.

OOC: Because you can still growl with a gag. =P

[The Truth]

The door to Bartok's office opened. A tall woman wearing a lab coat entered. "Bartok, I need your assistance. Student 1030032-T is not cooperating."

OOC: Student 1030032-T...AKA Leo.

OOC: *raises Eyebrow*  Also, shouldn't you control Bartok leaving?  I've been deliberately minimizing his dialogue and such because he's not my character.

"Well, I suppose that's passible.  I really couldn't expect anything better, given the circumstances.  All right, Kora, you may leave.  Take this to the medical wing, will you?  I have a feeling they'll need it."

-==IC: Servo & Bade==-
"OK, first things first, we need to figure out what exactly happened so we can prepare in case it happens again."
"Whaddaya mean, bartender?  Are ya sayin' ya were makin' it all up?"
"*Sigh* No, I'm saying no one really knows what a resonance cascade really is.  I've got a bunch of hard data, plus my own experiences, but everyone else who was there--everyone else who had an idea in h*** what went on in that laboratory--is dead.  Killed, the last time it happened."
"Wait, wait, wait, are you sayin' this has happened before?"
"Yes, genius, how else would I have had the field inhibitor ready?"
"Ya got a point there, pal, but I'm still not buying this story about ya not knowin' what's goin' on."
"******, Bade, I'm a general, not a scientist!  The only reason I still remember the formulas are because of this...shell I'm in now.  I've got plenty of hard data, but no idea how it works."
"So how'd ya build that...inhibitor thingy then?"
"I saw something of Justin's a selective energy inhibition field generator.  It'd shut down all types of energy in a given area except the ones he wanted--say, the power source for the mech it's mounted on.  He never manged to get it to differentiate it properly, but the formulas...well, let's say they used some things that looked familiar.  I plug in the numbers from the cascade, and I get that little jobby.  Apparently, I did everything right, 'cause we're still here.   I know how to put it together, I just don't know why it goes together that way."

OOC: If someone asks the right question now, we'll learn something quite interesting a bit later, once Servo finds the parts we need.  That is, if he remembers to look for them.

OOC: Yeah, but the odds of Shiza asking the right question are...pretty much 0.

IC: Bartok stood and followed the woman out. "I'll deal with you when I get back."

Lloyd simply looked at Bartok, though, if he could smirk, he certainly would have.

Leo looked up from the desk he was tied to as the woman in the lab coat entered, accompanied by a man.

(Bartok): "This is him?"

(Woman): "Yes. The conditioning isn't taking hold."
