In other bews...Minecraft 1.2 is Out!

by Jens Bergensten on March 1, 2012



Minecraft version 1.2 (actually 1.2.1) is now officially released! Get it by updating the game in the Minecraft launcher. Features include:

    New jungle biome
    Added ocelots
    Added cats
    Added iron golems
    New AI for mobs
    Tame wolves can have puppies
    Villagers will have children if there is room in their village
    New map height limit (256 instead of 128)
    New items and blocks
    Doors have been updated so that double-doors work better with redstone
    Added rare drops for mobs
    Many other minor tweaks and fixes

In addition, the Minecraft launcher has been updated. The new launcher should properly select 64 bit Java installations for Mac OS X users. If you haven’t downloaded Minecraft yet you can grab it here: www.minecraft.net/download

Update: Uploaded Minecraft 1.2.2 because birches and pine trees were missing…

I may actually go back to my Beta world now, if I don't have to worry about the villagers anymore I can get back to repairing the village and making it liveable.  (Before I had to run away from the village at night, so I wouldn't lose anyone to creepers.)  And I have enough iron for quite a few iron golems...hmm...

FYI, to anyone who wants to build iron golems from scratch: it takes 36 iron ingots (crafted into 4 iron blocks) and a pumpkin.

O_O oh wow, I just realized: if pumpkins are added to any Vechs maps, life will be an instant cinch.  He always puts huge deposits of iron in one spot. Grin

EDIT: 1.2.3 is out.  DEFINITELY update it; otherwise skellies and zombies won't burn in sunlight. O_O

The End still won't work for me...there's just a tiny little platform with the Ender Dragon WAY off in the distance.

Alternative, SERIOUS solution: Use MCEdit to delete and re-generate the chunks in the End and/or to build a bridge to where you need to be.

The thing is, the Ender Dragon itself is glitched. It just flickers up and down in one spot.
Is there some way to completely reset The End?

Yeah, leave the end then come back. This can be done one of two ways, kill the dragon and use the exit portal, or die.

BTW, Creepers are afraid of cats.  This will be QUITE helpful in the not-so-distant future. Wink

I tried making some Bio-Domes once. I got them to work, I even got Squid in the aquatic one.

At one point in time I was making an underground room and I broke the ceiling. Water came in and brought a squid with it before I could patch the hole, so I made a aquarium for the squid. It was epic, but he despawned Sad
