BrickFete Toronto

Needless to say the event was incredible, the people were all friendly and all the kids were very well behaved, oh, and yes, the models were out of this world and I'm really sorry R8, but I only took 180 pictures.  Cheesy

The best part for me was meeting some of the faces I had only spoken to online. These people don't disappoint, they are all willing and able to share and talk about our mutual admiration.

I took my wife and two of my six nex gen brickers (grandchildren) they had a blast and couldn't stop saying every other minute..."Buppy, come and look at this"

So if you are still hungry for more, click the link to my photobucket account....

http://s681.photobucket.com/albums/vv176/legodac/BrickFete%202011%20Toronto/?start=all

This wonderful lady said it was okay to take her picture, I even purchaced some cool things she was selling for the event BrickFete, which btw means "Party" in French, BrickParty eh.

Look at all the places where Lego is King and Queen, Knight and Jester, and Bob's your Uncle

Getting down to the models, and some are truly massive and words I know, cannot describe the magnificence.

This is Simon's stuff, cool Kid, awesome Bricker...

I'll leave you with MY favorite, the rest you'll see soon enough by clicking the link below

Keep on Brickn' eh...The legodac Brickerage Firm
Article by legodac, founder and editor of TOWER Magazine

Once you click the link and you arrive at my page in photobucket, look to the top and click "View Slde Show" it will save you a ton of time eh  Wink

Remember to click the link below to view all 180 photos and when you arrive click the slideshow option at the top

Wow.

What a diverse display of creations. I really liked the vintage LEGO that they had from Town Plan. Those are worth a jackpot in cash, and priceless in sentimentality. The Wall-Es were neat as well, and the moat that had the ship moving around on a train track. That was a really ingenious design.

Thanks for this wonderful coverage, legodac!
I talked to the creator of the boat running around the Irish Island for about half an hour, he's been showing this for a while now, mostly in the states. Turns out he lives 5 minutes from us and we both went to the same private school in Aurora Ontario, St. Andrews College.

Isn't that something! It just goes to show how easily people we meet in our lives will show up once more sometime in the future.
How right you are R8, but, I really hate to burst your posting bubble, but Bill was 15 years my senior, which meant he attended St. Andrews when I was being conceived. We did however click, and I'm sure soon I will be a member of the OBB. They get together every month for dinner in Toronto somewhere to talk about life and Lego.

I'm happy my friends, my feet have finally seen the second step. My only wish, was that my sister could have been with us today,, she's legodac with attitude and a prettier face.

AWESOME! I already viewed the whole slideshow (often hitting the back button because the slide show was moving too fast for me to take in everything  Wink). Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I really wish I could have been there, even if it was just to hang out in the Mindstorms section the whole time. But thanks for giving us the opportunity to at least pretend like we were there.  Smiley

We did however click, and I'm sure soon I will be a member of the OBB.

Did you "click", or "snap" together like two LEGO bricks?  Wink

The Mindstorms was awesome CC, the Slinky tester was cool and when talking to it's creator I found similarities when it came to Lego Movement and Maintenance. Lego does deteriorate after running for hours, it breaks down and leaves dust that binds gears and elements. None the less though, this was my favourite section of the conference, I said that when I saw Walle, which I would like to do in mindstorms as well, only much smaller.

Bill was just me 15 years from now, what a character and a friend to be.
You know what just dawned on me, we, several years ago would not have imagined a world where someone could talk to anybody, yet we have it now.

Imagine a world where an online friend, half way around the world, could be standing in front of you the very day you meet online.

Don't laugh, it's ALL coming... Smiley

Indeed, I hope to meet my friend in NZ someday...

Did you have a hard time not touching anything, Legodac? I would be tempted to touch anything LEGO, and those signs saying "Do not touch" would only tempt me farther.  Wink

Did you get any souvenirs?

I was too busy taking pictures to touch anything, though my 4 year old grandson managed to derail the train with his baseball cap.

I bought 4 engraved BrickFete engravings, two cargo containers which were sticker-ed with the event and the event kit itself, a moose, which was a real disappointment, the instructions are impossible to read. Also bought the boys some Pirates kits.

I was trying to get my sister who is also into Lego, to go down with me today, but she was going to the Jays, so what you see is what you get.

Sounds like a good selection of souvenirs.

Have you already started planning what you are going to display at next year's BrickFete?

Well CC, the Canadian EB members are still talking about whether or not there will be another. If there is, I'll likely have a small display of my older creations, like contributing a few Moc's to the train layout. Other then that I likely won't be planning anything major, I really want to get into stop motion, which as you know, takes a lot of time.

Thanks Chris and thanks to my fellow members here and a very special thanks to MsRR for creating the new topic about our one time posters comment.
Don't forget that the the rest of the pictures are right here http://s681.photobucket.com/albums/vv176/legodac/BrickFete%202011%20Toronto/?start=all

For CC, I am still thinking about what to display in next years BrickFete, I am seriously considering the Santa's Rein-Moose LDD creation to honour the first Lego Toronto Convention. I will likely build from my own collection since ordering now isn't within my budget and ordering later won't be possible at all. I think the moose is really cool and as God is my witness, I will find the designer one day, if only to shake his hand with a glow of admiration on my face  Smiley
