Title: The Photoshop Topic Post by: ab§olute_Z3R0 on July 02, 2008, 08:01:31 pm Anything Photoshop related can be posted here!
Images, tips, sites with downloads (Deviantart, etc) for Ps, how-to guides, etc. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Vezon The Piraka on July 14, 2008, 02:19:32 pm PS is great. I have a lot of styles I made on it. Also you should really try Lokas 3D Maker, it's a very simple 3D tool plug-in for PS but it works perfect.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 20, 2008, 10:58:27 pm Ps is pwn.
I think my version (CS3 Extended) has 3D stuff on it, I haven't tried it out though. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 12:02:35 am O_O Nice!
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 27, 2008, 12:11:03 am Yeah the problem with teaching yourself a program as massive as PS, especially the extended version, is that you miss some stuff that doesn't make sense to you off the bat. I'm hoping to take a PS class next semester. 8)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 12:30:11 am Sweet. I just started using PS.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on September 27, 2008, 12:41:28 am I have not used PS yet, but there are a bizillion tutorials that show up in google... so many my brain hurts!
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 27, 2008, 01:20:04 am Yeah if I am going to look for a PS tutorial, I have to search for what I want an effect for, instead of just searching for "photoshop tutorials" because then there will be billions. :P
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: mwarvik3838 on September 27, 2008, 06:11:23 am Sweet. I just started using PS. I cannot use it :'(Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 01:16:06 pm I was messing around with PS today and I made this:
(http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6870/animation2qq6.gif) It's made up of 62 frames. ::) I was bored. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 27, 2008, 01:16:56 pm That is pretty cool.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Destroyer Behemoth on September 27, 2008, 01:24:38 pm Kewl! You could add 62 more frames to have do the reverse of what it currently does and make it one smooth animation. :P
I have Photoshop CS2 and Photoshop 5, both pretty nifty. I'm pretty newbie to Photoshop, cuz I don't master great affects and all, but with a little tutorial or experimenting, I can recognize some filters and functions in PS. The things I generally do in PS is colorize art, make the banners that I use here and on BZP, and just practice graphics. Every once in a while I make a birthday present for someone. But someday, someday I will master graphics in PS... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 01:41:50 pm Disky@ Good idea. *does it*
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 27, 2008, 01:49:29 pm I can't wait to see the next pic ti makes in PS.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 27, 2008, 02:04:47 pm My STGOH animation had only 35 frames, but I ended up with 44 layers from all the edits I had to do. =P
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/STGOH.gif) I made that last year, and just recently found a method to make much smoother animation. Haven't had a chance to use it yet... When I do (and when I'm done with requests... =P ) I'll probably redo that graphic. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 27, 2008, 02:07:26 pm Awesomeness. It owns all your other graphics.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 02:07:47 pm Nice. Here's my finished one.
(http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8907/animation2fn9.gif) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on September 27, 2008, 02:11:04 pm you could probably hypnotize people with that!
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on September 27, 2008, 02:12:46 pm Wow! I wish I could do graphics on photoshop(well, I wish I could do graphics period, but that's another story), but sadly, I don't have it at home. My school has it, but I have no clue how to do anything on it...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 27, 2008, 02:14:18 pm Me neither.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 05:03:29 pm (http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7519/exploshun2psdvw7.png)
Here's my second attempt at an explosion. What do you think? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: mwarvik3838 on September 27, 2008, 05:33:10 pm Somebody should make a guide
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 27, 2008, 05:34:16 pm OK nice, that looks good.
Mind PMing me how you did it since I told you how I do mine? Just for the sake of interest. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 05:46:33 pm Sure, I'll send you the psd file.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 27, 2008, 05:54:43 pm Interesting, I don't know what some of those layers are. =P I've never used levels before... O.o
Did you just figure that out or did you find a tutorial somewhere? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 27, 2008, 07:49:59 pm (http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/7604/exploshunpsdqh7.jpg)
Yayz, I submitted it to LOU, I hope they accept it. ;D Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on September 27, 2008, 09:49:28 pm AWESOME!!!
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on September 28, 2008, 03:00:38 am I have CS3e, just like CRX.
I've tried to make space: (http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/stars2.jpg) And here's my first attempt at an explosion: (http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/explosion2.png) All I did was blur brushes, so I'm just starting off. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 28, 2008, 07:28:37 am Awesome art people.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: mwarvik3838 on September 28, 2008, 09:02:19 am (http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/7604/exploshunpsdqh7.jpg) What is that?Yayz, I submitted it to LOU, I hope they accept it. ;D Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 28, 2008, 09:03:33 am LEGO Universe Creation Lab.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: mwarvik3838 on September 28, 2008, 09:09:01 am LEGO Universe Creation Lab. Is LOU Lego Universe Creation Lab? That should be LUCLTitle: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 28, 2008, 10:21:39 am It is not an exact translation, but that is where it is heading.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 28, 2008, 01:18:46 pm I have CS3e, just like CRX. CS3E FTW! :PThose are pretty good for starting out, I like the space one. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on September 28, 2008, 05:07:28 pm I have CS3e, just like CRX. CS3E FTW! :PThose are pretty good for starting out, I like the space one. I found a tutorial, and here's my latest explosion: (http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/explosion4.png) That's a lot better. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 28, 2008, 05:10:54 pm That's not bad, where's the tutorial?
(I still like mine better. ;D ) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on September 28, 2008, 05:21:48 pm Yeah, you would like yours better.
The tutorial was here (http://www.thedesignworld.com/photoshop-tutorials/filter-effects/realistic-looking-fire-explosion-2/). Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on September 28, 2008, 05:43:47 pm I now have Adobe Ps Elements 4.0
I has an uncle who kindly let me download it. Now I just need to learn how to use it/get time to figure it out. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on September 28, 2008, 06:17:24 pm I think my brother downloaded PS CS4 beta. I'll have to try that out.
EDIT: Wait, no, that's fireworks CS4 beta. They didn't release a PS CS4b. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 28, 2008, 08:42:09 pm Will there be a PS CS4 extended? Or will the CS3 extended features be included in CS4?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on September 28, 2008, 11:56:02 pm I'm assuming there will, but I can't tell for sure...
I've made another explosion. It's awsomeness can only be shown in widescreen: (http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/explosion6.png) In just a day, I've got that much better at it. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 29, 2008, 12:15:21 am I saw that tutorial too, it's pretty cool. =P
Still like mine better though. :D Probably mostly because I found it myself. (http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/Supernova2copy.png) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on September 29, 2008, 12:29:03 am *Is curious*
Is Ps something you have to figure out on your own, for the most part? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on September 29, 2008, 01:15:09 am *Is curious* Is Ps something you have to figure out on your own, for the most part? I have been looking at tutorials trying to figure that out before I buy...and I am totally dazed and confused. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 29, 2008, 06:46:11 am *Is curious* Is Ps something you have to figure out on your own, for the most part? Unless you want to look at tutorials, yes. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: mwarvik3838 on September 29, 2008, 09:11:53 am I have CS3e, just like CRX. CS3E FTW! :PThose are pretty good for starting out, I like the space one. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 29, 2008, 11:52:37 am Ditto.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on September 29, 2008, 03:17:56 pm Alright, once I find time, I'll start messing around with it. :P
I do the same with videogames anyway (i.e.- No instruction book) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 29, 2008, 03:31:18 pm Yeah I do that with everything electronics-related. :P
I look forward to taking a class on PS next semester, then none of you will haz my PS skillz. :P jk Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on September 29, 2008, 03:34:46 pm Almost none of us have your skills already; You want to spread the gap farther? XD
I might eventually take a Ps class. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on September 29, 2008, 03:40:33 pm I could never work Ps. I am horrible at getting pics or screenshots.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 29, 2008, 03:41:59 pm (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/473/icanhazcolorsdpsdwj7.png)
I can haz colorful exploshuns! ;D Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 29, 2008, 03:58:49 pm Ooo ooo, me too! :D
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/colorfulexplosion.png) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 29, 2008, 04:06:47 pm w00ts. ;D
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on September 29, 2008, 05:04:02 pm Me three!
(http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/explosion6_coloured.png) Not as good, but good enough. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 29, 2008, 05:41:22 pm This is also a good fire effect, I don't know how many of you guys have seen it:
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/CRXgraphicDHReflectSmall.jpg) It's not my technique, I found it in a tutorial a while back, which doesn't seem to exist anymore. That was my first attempt, so it's pretty easy to tell it involves liquify. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 29, 2008, 06:11:48 pm Nice, I like how you put the DH symbol in there. How do you make the awesome font?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 29, 2008, 07:01:41 pm I designed it using my mad art skills. =P
To draw it I start in paint because paint's terribly pixelated nature makes it easy to make things mathematically exact. Then I blow up the rez in Ps and go over it again with lines. Then I do whatever with it so it goes with the graphic I'm making. 8) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 29, 2008, 07:17:58 pm Would you mind sending me the psd file for the desktop you made me?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on September 29, 2008, 07:30:27 pm Sure, enjoy the method I used to make the background. :P
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on September 30, 2008, 07:25:42 am Nice... Very nice. :)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 09, 2008, 02:27:24 pm (http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1534/bzztpsdkf6.png)
Lightning I made. Shocking isn't it? (lol, pun intended. XD) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 09, 2008, 03:13:28 pm quite kewl
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on October 09, 2008, 03:39:50 pm nicely done
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 09, 2008, 03:42:10 pm Nice lightning, but if you look at it really, it doesn't look realistic in shape. Great design, but I thing that they should not look too much like a nebula with lights in it. Or something.
Make it one continous lightning bolt. Also, you stole my line! Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on October 09, 2008, 03:47:27 pm if the light purple stuff wasn't there, it would look real
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 09, 2008, 03:50:05 pm The light purple stuff is there to make it not look like it's lightning from a clear sky. It's its discontuinity (Is that even a word) that bothers me. It's lack of unity will be it's undoing.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: hyprgig on October 09, 2008, 03:53:09 pm Yea it is broken up. i see what you mean.
Also, discontinuity is a real word and this is how it is spelled. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on October 09, 2008, 04:06:30 pm You need to cut out the difference cloud 'smoke' around it, to make it more defined. Like this:
(http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/lightning.png) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 09, 2008, 04:16:37 pm It's not really supposed to be from the sky. ::)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on October 09, 2008, 04:22:13 pm It's lightning, right?
Anyway, even if my lightning isn't in the right position, you could still try getting rid of some of the excess smoke. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 09, 2008, 04:24:10 pm 'k, I'll do it over... :P
(http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7559/dontlikefd6.png) I don't like it... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 09, 2008, 04:45:35 pm Now there's too little. ::)
Try making it separate into a few and go down, so it hits serval spots and illuminates more of the pic. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 09, 2008, 05:45:50 pm Ok, forget that. :P I made this instead:
(http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/8720/darthtimmehpsdow2.png) You shall now refer to me as...Darth Timmeh! >:D Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 09, 2008, 06:07:55 pm There ya go!
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 09, 2008, 06:32:17 pm Thanks. :)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 09, 2008, 07:00:16 pm (http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/1534/bzztpsdkf6.png) Lightning I made. Shocking isn't it? (lol, pun intended. XD) I like the whole purple haze & lightning thing here tho... wonder what it would look like with just that, centered, and MY headshot avvie... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 09, 2008, 07:15:03 pm Like this.
(http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/2640/bzztpsd2mz7.png) (http://imageshack.us) or do you mean just the head? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 09, 2008, 08:10:38 pm just the head... or at least with the NORMAL smiling face...... like I made the lightning...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 10, 2008, 06:39:46 am I'll try that when I get done with school today.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on October 10, 2008, 03:38:40 pm I've had a second attempt at space:
(http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/space2.png) What do you think? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jade on October 10, 2008, 03:50:04 pm thats pretty cool jas :)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 10, 2008, 03:52:49 pm Add could rings on the planet and it could be Jupiter. Make the rings bigger and it could be Saturn. In any way, I like the effect...
But why is the comet on fire? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 10, 2008, 04:03:23 pm Yeah, there's no oxygen in space, meaning no fire. ::)
What did you think of the one i made? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 10, 2008, 04:04:34 pm Neither is there friction that would cause it to glow like that.
It is supposed to be ice white, with mall particles of ice in its trail, not fire. EDIT: A nice CGI comet: http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/en/images/e/ef/Comet_Burke.jpg Also, I believe the trail is supposed to face the direction opposite of the sun. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on October 10, 2008, 04:12:33 pm I just went by the tutorial.
I've changed it, anyway. It's now an exploding planet, that was actually the base of the meteor. (http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/space22.png) UZ, the 'glow' on the planet is the atmosphere. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 10, 2008, 04:15:19 pm I know.
Anyway... it looks kinda out of place... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on October 10, 2008, 04:23:19 pm I do agree with you, Which is why I've put it back to the original image; just the ringed planet in space.
(http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/space2_4.png) Do you think that other planet would look in place if I put it back in? (not the exploding one, just the other normal one) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 10, 2008, 04:25:31 pm The big planet could use a moon... so I guess so, but in a lower orbit.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on October 10, 2008, 04:30:22 pm Like this?
(http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/space2_5.png) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 10, 2008, 04:32:30 pm That's what I call awsomeness.
Now just add a Gal... *Is shot* Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 10, 2008, 05:09:15 pm Ok, so either no one saw it or everyone's ignoring it, but what do you think of this? ::)
(http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/8720/darthtimmehpsdow2.png) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 10, 2008, 05:12:01 pm Err... I was speechless. XD
It's nice, but it doesn't scream shooting lightning to me. Ask Omega. He's an expert on shooting lightning. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 10, 2008, 05:21:26 pm idk, I like it like a little lightning, but I may try bigger lightning.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on October 10, 2008, 09:04:11 pm Yeah, it looks cool and all, but if you could make itt branch off into, say, 7 different arcs heading in different directions...
IDK. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 10, 2008, 09:41:00 pm (http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/5407/fiahpsdiw7.png) (http://"http://mln.lego.com/en-us/Publicview/timposter.aspx")
Fiah! :P (http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/6159/lightningpsdyu9.png) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 10, 2008, 11:14:39 pm totally kewl
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 11, 2008, 03:11:42 am *Is getting really anoyinng* Just add a little glow and a more glow on your hand...
But awsomeness factor is 9.9999999999999999999999999. We can't go 10, then we'd have hyper evolution. Or something. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on October 11, 2008, 09:53:08 am Now THAT looks way cooler, IMO. 8)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 17, 2008, 08:00:53 pm (http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/205/lightningpsdmu9.png)
So, *points big gun at UZ* how's it look? :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 17, 2008, 09:28:05 pm Totally awesome! IMO, without a gun pointed at me.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 17, 2008, 10:04:43 pm lol! Thank you.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on October 17, 2008, 10:07:06 pm Quite shocking, actually. *Rim-shot*
I like how you got the lightning balled up at the hand, along with the blue glow on your minifig. 8) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 17, 2008, 10:21:39 pm Thanks, much.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 18, 2008, 12:57:35 pm That rocks way too much. XD *Is shot*
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 18, 2008, 01:50:52 pm ^_^ w00t.
You know, you could order graphics with lightning and stuff from Hunter Hardware. (http://zets.21.forumer.com/images/smiles/whistling.gif) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 18, 2008, 02:07:27 pm That'd eat away the joy of making your own.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 18, 2008, 02:34:47 pm Just letting you know. ;)
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 18, 2008, 02:37:25 pm BTW, you're banner would be better if you made the letters more visible and if you made them be in the middle of the banner. *Is killed*
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 18, 2008, 03:47:47 pm *revives UZ* I like it when you tell me what can be improved, I'll work on it now. ;)

Yeah, I guess so. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 18, 2008, 04:44:10 pm (http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/9180/handsraisedpsdxx7.png)
lol, I am aware of how painfully lame this is, but I saw the pic and decided to give it a try. :P EDIT: And no, this is not me. =P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on October 19, 2008, 06:45:06 pm Now all that's missing is a giant wave in the background... :P
It could use two more bolts for the other two fingers, and that'd be about all I could think of. :) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 20, 2008, 06:48:33 am I'll try it on myself when my camera gets fixed, but I prolly couldn't post that here...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 20, 2008, 08:05:21 am Pure ownage.
However... It looks like the two effects weren't made on that background. Similar to how when you in paint change the background color of a text, it looks out of place. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 20, 2008, 11:20:41 am That's what I was thinking, but it wouldn't let me make the lightning on the original background. I'll try again.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: mwarvik3838 on October 20, 2008, 01:27:36 pm I've had a second attempt at space: I like it, very cool :)(http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee17/_hidatchi/space2.png) What do you think? I made this for UZ, what do you think? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on October 27, 2008, 06:55:50 pm it's quite cool, but the one line is kinda hard to read... maybe if it moved a teensie bit slower???
over all it rocks. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 27, 2008, 07:06:19 pm Yeah, I'll make it slower.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 27, 2008, 07:09:23 pm (http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/8072/w00tnp0.gif) (http://mln.smfforfree4.com/index.php/topic,1005.0.html)

I think UZ will like it. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 27, 2008, 07:25:17 pm Thank you. I hope so.

Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Rakoua on October 28, 2008, 11:56:03 am It's easy just search in google images...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 28, 2008, 02:16:57 pm How else would I have done it? Lol I dunno. If you had CS3E you could have done it with timeline animation at 30 frames a second, and it probably would have taken a lot less time to do. =P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on October 28, 2008, 03:53:17 pm oh, lol, I don't have CS3E. :P
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 28, 2008, 07:50:23 pm I did a 60 frame animation in about 10 seconds with it. =P

Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on November 13, 2008, 04:46:57 pm I used this picture, I think.
(http://www.skinbase.org/files/archive/shots/416/SpiderMAN3LogoPrev.jpg) And I just changed the colors around. I might make the theme a black/silver. But anyway, I added a big web onto the bg. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on November 13, 2008, 05:32:06 pm Hm, I'm kinda leaning toward black, myself. but red is good too...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on November 13, 2008, 07:05:51 pm The red is more visible, but the silver/black is more metalic.
I personally would go with red... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on November 13, 2008, 08:44:46 pm As would I, for the sake of visibility.
Here's my new background: (http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/distort.png) [The original text was personal, so I changed it to "Distort." The original is a bit better I think. It's also 1680x1050.] Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Solaris XXX on November 14, 2008, 04:20:17 pm Nice, I have used distort before, but it has at no point has i tured out quite that nice.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on November 14, 2008, 05:53:47 pm Thank you!
BTW I'm not sure if what I said was confusing - "Distort" was the text with which I replaced the original text (you can sorta make it out under the rose), but I did use a distort filter on it - polar coordinates, one in each direction. Plus a couple other filters to give it that effect. Also, for the sake of interest, HERE (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/51/Small_Red_Rose.JPG/800px-Small_Red_Rose.JPG) is the original rose pic. a - spherize the planet b - make the glow less c - shade the corner of the planet d - add a lens flare where the shading isn't It makes it look a bit more realistic, like this: (http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/rr191/Jas765/planet-1.png) (the texture of that planet was marble/granite, so it won't look as realistic as that. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on February 02, 2009, 11:45:37 pm Wow, that's really good!
I need to make more stuff. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on February 04, 2009, 07:57:24 am O.K, because I am a n00b, I don't even have photoshop, much less know how to use it. However, I was wondering; Can you add stuff to a movie in photoshop (like, say, a boulder chasing you) so you don't have to get a boulder chasing you? (IF, that is, you wanted to be chased by a boulder).
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on February 04, 2009, 02:02:26 pm No (unless you want to do it frame-by-frame). For that, you should get something like final cut (which I have), and use blue screening effects. You'll have to make the boulder yourself though...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on February 04, 2009, 02:22:17 pm How do you get different colours from in-picture Filters? Do you have to use different layers?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on February 04, 2009, 07:34:17 pm Is there a way to import a movie into PS3E's animation system? If there was, it'd be pretty easy to animate using timeline animation.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Flipz on February 04, 2009, 10:37:31 pm No (unless you want to do it frame-by-frame). Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jas765 on February 05, 2009, 12:58:18 am Final cut is a program like elements (I would assume), but it's made by apple. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on February 06, 2009, 12:30:57 pm Not entirely Photoshop, but I was just messing with stuff in The GIMP, and... well in certain stuff it has a little preview, and I did a combo of what's called "Swirl-Tile", "Line Nova", and I went to the preview of "Lighting Effects", which I had used on a previous try at this. And, well... The result is a very interesting one, because of the unintentional patterns that I found =P It's like how something can look one way that would be normal, but is a different way at a different size.
/EDIT: ... And the funny thing is; It doesn't even look the way it did in the preview with all the crazy patterns in the thing after I applied the Lighting Effects filter xD Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on February 06, 2009, 07:42:21 pm OK well then you better be online this afternoon. =P As a teaser, have you guys ever wondered why I always wear sunglasses? :o Um, because you're blind? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on February 11, 2009, 09:29:55 pm I really need to learn how to use Photoshop and whatnot besides croping pics and whatnot. >_>
What button/button-combo is it to do transparancy? :-\ Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on February 11, 2009, 09:36:03 pm If you want a transparent background, double click the Background layer and hit Enter. This will make it a movable layer, at which point it can be deleted or sections of it erased to reveal transparency. All other layers above the background, erase to reveal transparency.
If you have a full version of Ps you can also use layer masks (Layer>Layer Mask), where you brush with black to make transparent and white to bring back the layer. This avoids deleting any data. And whatnot. =P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on February 11, 2009, 10:43:38 pm Right... I'll have to try it tomorrow, when I actually have access to the program. It took... a while. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on February 16, 2009, 10:30:50 am O_o Oh. I thought that was Ryan Clark for a sec...
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on February 16, 2009, 01:53:08 pm They do look similar (those unfamiliar can see Ryan in the middle of THIS (http://www.bandsonfire.com/plugins/fckeditor/userfiles/image/news/dh_group.jpg) pic), but then a lot of people with shaved heads and beards look the same. =P
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Legodac on February 16, 2009, 05:53:50 pm I guess I'm gonna have to try it out, now that I've read that they send you tutorials

The only problem is, it's too big. Your whole sig takes up my 1440x900px screen. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 03, 2009, 04:05:41 am Yeah... it is gynormous... total hugemongusness.

Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Magical Girl Mimi on March 03, 2009, 11:45:17 am That sig's a little too big anyway.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on March 03, 2009, 01:29:48 pm That of course will be addressed when sig rules are released.

And Tim/MsRR, it's not a big deal this time, but I will explain why it is important so lionytai learns from this. :) The act of creating original work, whether it be written or artistic, copyrights that material to its creator. As such, using something someone made without their consent is stealing.
As for that sig, I would request you take it out. I don't mind people using techniques I have come up with, but they should make it unique to them and not just copy the finished product. No worries, now you know. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: lionytai on March 04, 2009, 12:03:28 am Agreed. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on March 10, 2009, 08:09:52 pm I thought I told you you should use the black to frame the sig. :P Sort of like I did for my Skillet-edit banner.
In other news, I made this (http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/Twirl2.png) background today. Original size 3360x2100. :P Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on March 10, 2009, 08:32:09 pm Ooh... Swirly... =P

(Actually he came in when it looked like this (http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/lighttwirl.png) which is also cool. The electric effect is a bit more noticeable there.) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Dudebot5000 on March 10, 2009, 09:55:25 pm He's right. =P

Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 12, 2009, 11:45:04 pm VERY Nice, CRX.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on March 13, 2009, 01:19:46 pm Thanks... it took a long time. I was amazed it actually fits the other logo as well as it does. There was a lot of time spent figuring out a good way to arrange the letters before it became evident it would look right like that. After I got all the letters edited I had to go in and redraw them with the pen tool (Tim's favorite =P) so the resized ones would actually look crisp.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on March 13, 2009, 04:31:10 pm Gah, I hate the pen tool =P

The only problem is the blue reflection on the mountain pieces, but you can't easily do anything about that. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on March 14, 2009, 08:05:46 am THose are awesome flipz! What program did you use?

k, made it. how's it look? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on March 23, 2009, 09:06:10 pm One thing I do when I use Savatage is make the T's smaller because they're kinda BIG lol. You can play around with that in the Character palette, if you have it.
Good shirt color. You should recolor the glasses to match it. 8) Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on March 24, 2009, 10:59:54 am I like the big T's.

Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on March 26, 2009, 06:18:37 pm Are you doing designs for all of the teams? I wouldn't mind seeing a Double Throwown one...
and yes, going back to the team names... they are mostly aweful. Tin Star is not bad, nor is Slicksta, but Peelie and a few others are dissapointing... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on March 26, 2009, 06:49:43 pm Uh, I suppose I could do one for all the teams.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on March 26, 2009, 07:02:32 pm cool!
My school has photoshop, and I've tried it about 5 times. I'm not actually sure what version it is, but I know that I'm terrible at it... I couldn't even remove a plain image from a background with having to (badly) redraw the image... Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Chicken Lord on March 27, 2009, 02:55:36 pm I dunno.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on March 27, 2009, 02:57:25 pm What's the DT text though? oh, I just meant like have text that says Double Throwdown... I should be able to do it soon.
avvie or banner? EDIT: *cough* double posting not allowed Tim... ^-^ ~Nwj345 Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on March 27, 2009, 03:00:22 pm avvie first, and then a banner if you want. If you make a banner I'd prefer it to be thinner than your current banny.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on March 27, 2009, 03:01:38 pm Like 300px tall?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on March 27, 2009, 03:08:11 pm sadly, I have no idea how big/small that is. Maybe a bit more than half the hight of your banner.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: timposter on March 27, 2009, 03:09:44 pm it's 500px right now, so you'd want it about 275 px.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: The Host on March 27, 2009, 03:13:29 pm sure, sounds good.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on March 31, 2009, 04:56:16 pm Hey,
Can you guys tell me how to make pretty good backgrounds in photoshop? I'm trying to get into the yearbook electivenext year and (though I probably will and be able to use photoshop really well) want to be prepaired. Any help? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on April 20, 2009, 03:37:39 pm As a student, you should be able to get PS CS4E for about $200, smaller amount in your currency. I don't know if that applies to students under college level though (they want you to be serious about it I guess). You should search for student pricing on adobe products.
It's even "cheaper" if you buy one of the packages, as far as price of what you get. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on July 06, 2009, 07:58:08 am That's awesome BioK! And, how did you make it? I'm very curious.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: BioK on July 06, 2009, 12:41:54 pm The swirlie thingie?
1. Create a new document. I made a 8 inches x 8 inches with white background. Then, fill the background layer with black color. Create a new layer, then also fill it with the black. I used inches for no reason. 2. Go to the menu Filter -> Render -> Lens Fare. You drag the cross icon to the exact middle. (Close is still enough) 3. In this step, still on the top layer, you use Free Transform (press Ctrl + T), to reduce the height to 28.3%. 4. Next, you duplicate the current layer, then rotate it for 90 degrees, so it is like a plus sign. 5. Then, you choose the blending mode for this layer is Lighten. 6. The purpose of these steps is to create a lighting-flower. So, I continue to duplicate the "Free Transformed" layer, drag it to the top, rotate it about 45 degree, and applied the Lighten mode for Blending Options also. 7. Then, you duplicate the layer 1 again, drag it to the top, rotate it about -45 degree, then applied the Lighten for Blending Option. You will have a freakish cross between an 8-petaled flower and a black hole. 8. Double click on the background layer (the bottom layer), then press Ok to unlock it. Then, go to the menu Layer -> Merge Visible. And then, press Ctrl + T to go in Free Transform mode, and increase both height and width to 225% 9. Go to the menu Filter -> Distort -> Wave, and applied the settings below: Sine 155 Generators Wavelenghth: 752 - 794 Ampitude: 6 - 34 Scale: 100%, 100% Wrap Around 10. Duplicate the layer and then go to the menu Filter -> Distort -> Twirl, and applied the settings below. 346 for the angle then press ok. You also applied Screen mode for Blending Options on this new layer. 11. Now, you continue to duplicate the layer and rotate it again, and again to create some abstract graphics In my works, I duplicated it about 4 times, and rotate it in each different ways to have this result. 12. Then press the round button (half black, half white) at the bottom of the Layer panel and select Levels to open the Levels dialogue, then you could use my numbers below. or you could play around with others. 36, 0.94, 255 0 - 255 12. In this step, you try with Hue/Saturation. 218 41 Colorize Then you are done. You can also do random stuff like me. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jade on July 06, 2009, 01:40:08 pm Ok, I'm thinking about getting photoshop now, seeing as how you guys have made really cool stuff with it, but what version should I get?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: BioK on July 06, 2009, 01:49:35 pm I recommend Photoshop Elements 7
My friend at work has it and I tried it. It is rather self-explanitory. Plus, it is pretty cheap. (Buy it at Amazon) Until you are good at graphic stuff, you can get the CS versions Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on July 07, 2009, 07:56:27 am CS4 is the only one you can get from Adobe. Otherwise, you can get elements for $100 at Best Buy or on Amazon.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 07, 2009, 09:42:37 am I'll sell you CS3E for $50. =P
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Matoro119 on July 07, 2009, 12:18:45 pm My newest project is my signature, and I made it in Flash.
Also, I can give anyone Flash for free. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: BioK on July 07, 2009, 01:25:02 pm I'll sell you CS3E for $50. =P GIMME!! Are you srs? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 07, 2009, 09:52:15 pm Yeah I'm serious, if you're willing to trust me with your address I'll sell it to you. If you/your parents have a P.O. box that'd be even better.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: BioK on July 07, 2009, 11:09:10 pm I am too lazy to type your name, so I shall call you Pig.
Pig, $50? How do you expect to get a profit. And how can I trust you? Do you have a paypal account? Unless you give it to me 4 free...thanks pig. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Kritzelei on July 08, 2009, 08:58:18 am I recommend Photoshop Elements 7 I want to get Photoshop too, and this is quite cheap (Elements 7), but why is the student version of CS4 much cheaper? Would you have to be a certain age to classify as a 'student'?My friend at work has it and I tried it. It is rather self-explanitory. Plus, it is pretty cheap. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Kritzelei on July 08, 2009, 09:14:06 am Hey, CRX, is it worth downloading a trial version of Photoshop?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 08, 2009, 09:18:39 am Yeah it's the full version, which kills itself after 30 days. So if you want to know what it's like, do that. But get as much in as you can before time runs out.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Kritzelei on July 08, 2009, 09:21:34 am I'll download it now! I only have Paint Shop Pro XI, it was free, but it's not that good.

CRX, can photoshop be installed on more than one computer? Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 08, 2009, 05:40:32 pm I believe the copyright law says it can, as long as both are not used at the same time. If you're talking about my copy of PS CS3E, I recently bought the Design Premium CS4 suite so I'm not using CS3E.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Jade on July 08, 2009, 06:53:01 pm What I meant to say is, is it like other student version of products, like Microsoft Office, where you can install it on up to 3 computers?
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: BioK on July 08, 2009, 08:35:17 pm Yeah it's the full version, which kills itself after 30 days. So if you want to know what it's like, do that. Wait....so Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 08, 2009, 10:55:49 pm That was in response to Servatu V, who wanted to know the nature of the trial. The version I'm offering is the full version of PS CS3E. The trial anyone can get from adobe.com.
@Jade - I'm not sure about that. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: BioK on July 08, 2009, 11:13:37 pm Lemme think about that.
I think CS4 is too complicated. And my current Photoshop is like the most obsolete thing ever. PSE2.0 Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 08, 2009, 11:49:08 pm There isn't a great deal of difference between 3 and 4. You just have to take the time to learn it, and it's worth it.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on July 10, 2009, 09:22:17 am I don't know about that since I only have 4... But I had 3 once, so, yeah, there's a big difference... but IMHO, 4 is better.... if you want to pay $300
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on July 10, 2009, 10:28:25 am There are some nice appearance changes in 4, but most of it is still available in 3.

Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on August 19, 2009, 11:43:10 am Logos done in Illustrator, effects in Photoshop. The sig says MÆLXTRØM; the background icon shape is based off the Demon Hunter logo.

Linksig. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 11, 2009, 10:20:20 am Reply fail. So here's a larger version of the new Network Hunter sigs:
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/Hunter.png) Text is original design, done in Illustrator (two hours) and background done in Photoshop (one hour). If you're unfamiliar with the Demon Hunter logo, the blackness on the left is a blurred version of it. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on October 13, 2009, 08:03:06 pm Those are both awesome! And custom text? Hmmm... How do you...? Nevermind, I'll PM you instead.....
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 13, 2009, 10:18:21 pm Thanks.
To get it on the computer from a design floating around in my head, I use Adobe Illustrator CS4. It's a vector graphics program, which means it stores data as a series of points and slopes. Here (http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o217/craZyRacrXtreme/tehlogoofawesomeness.png)'s a screenie of the interface. Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on October 14, 2009, 07:53:02 am Wait.... do you turn it into a font, or just copy and paste each letter to spell out what you want to? 'Cause I have Illustrator.
Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 14, 2009, 12:49:56 pm I don't turn it into a font you'd be able to use in MS Word, for example, because a lot of the fonts I make are highly specialized to the original word(s) I made it for (examples MÆLXTRØM, soulFire). Even the Hunter font is individual to that graphic because the points come off as I see fit for that, there isn't a norm I've specified as to from what part of a given letter and what direction the points go. If you wanted to make a standardized font to use in other programs, I think a specific font creation program is required. The closest you can get to that in Illustrator (and also PS) is saving things as custom shapes.
To make these logos I just draw them out with the pen tool, and copy/paste elements that are the same for multiple letters (such as the pointed and non-pointed stems of letters). Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: Obi on October 14, 2009, 07:08:27 pm NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! THE PEN TOOL!!!!!!
I HATE that tool.... And before someone tells us to BOT, I'll PM you one more Q and then, well... BOT! Title: Re: The Photoshop Topic Post by: MÆLXTRØM on October 15, 2009, 01:40:12 pm Lol. If you're using it in PS then you have pretty good reason to hate it. It's much better in Illustrator, and it's pretty much the only way to do anything.
