Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Legodac on February 21, 2009, 02:57:31 pm So when does this start? today? YES JAS, it started noon MLNO time, let's here it buddy, let everyone know your creative skills know no bounds Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Obi on February 21, 2009, 04:01:26 pm I have a poem! It probablyy isn't that good, but it's a poem.
Legos are extremely fun, You can play with them in the sun. Or inside on a rainy day, They're fun to play with any day Star Wars, Castle, Agents, too. So many themes made just for you. Well, that's my poem. Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Jas765 on February 21, 2009, 04:06:45 pm Plastic LEGO blocks Being played with by a kid Creating a car It's a haiku. Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Rakoua on February 21, 2009, 04:14:08 pm Here, take a peak,
I hope my poem isn't too weak... The Lost Brick That brick over there, it's age looks so severe. Perhaps you should play Like you used to every day? You seem lost, touching it, perhaps you should sit? Take your brick, Even if you're sick. Go, take it, shall I say, Here, you do it this way. Look at it, for a moment, And turn it into a monument, Car, truck, house, anything... You can even sing. Take it, go ahead, Don't make the plastic sad... Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Legodac on February 21, 2009, 05:22:14 pm I have a poem! It probablyy isn't that good, but it's a poem. Well, that's my poem. Cool, I like it A quote from jas Plastic LEGO blocks Being played with by a kid Creating a car That's the best poem ever written, it's way ahead of it's time, so far in fact, I can't find the rhyme perfect in time, it is so sublime so see if you won in 3009 It's going so well I may cast a spell on all those here now who don't have a cow following 5th of six with some really cool tricks Here, take a peak, I hope my poem isn't too weak... The Lost Brick That brick over there, it's age looks so severe. Perhaps you should play Like you used to every day? You seem lost, touching it, perhaps you should sit? Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Jas765 on March 01, 2009, 02:22:45 pm Where? I can't see them.
Ooh, fun. We just started a unit on poetry in english. Title: Re: THE CRYOGENIC SLEEP UNIT WEEKLY POEM CONTEST Post by: Legodac on March 01, 2009, 04:50:06 pm Where? I can't see them. Winners have been posted in this same forum,in another topic. However, I'm locking this topic because I think that we'll have a better contest without the rhyme and focus on creative writing and short stories, everyone loves a good story and everyone has one to tell. Even though I'd like to keep this perticular contest open, because that's what I promised, I'm closing it until I'm certain it is accepted by a few more brickers Ooh, fun. We just started a unit on poetry in english. Title: Re: The CSU weekly poem #2 (only hrs remain) Post by: Jas765 on March 07, 2009, 09:04:15 pm I'm not doing a haiku this week. Remember, poems don't always have to rhyme...
Have a look, it'll be quick Take a look at that lone LEGO brick You used to use it, night and day But you stopped after we went to that bay After that, you didn't give a care You were too distracted and unaware So, remember that lone LEGO brick and maybe play with it when you are sick Title: Re: The CSU weekly poem #2 (only hrs remain) Post by: Legodac on March 08, 2009, 12:51:55 pm I'm not doing a haiku this week. Title: Re: Weekly poem contest #3 Post by: Legodac on March 15, 2009, 12:08:24 pm This one's over, next one begins now, see contest winners for last weeks winners.
WP contest #3 winners as follows In first place we have Lionytai, an inspiring piece of poetry to say the least In second place we have MsRR for her down home and original LEGO poem In third we have my faithfull buddy, Obi-wan, who's down to earth poetry, truly made me smile In 4th, an honourable mention to Wagner who doesn't know that I don't understand pc lingo yet, yet, there were a couple of glowing rhymes Your prize is 2 gypsum, nice job.(We'll find a BC for your Prize) In conclusion, I'd like to something about last weeks winner, Jas765, who wrote a poem so close to my heart it made me cry. To me, he wrote about the 'Lego Dark years',something I didn't even know about until talking to a close friend, a place I once was, a place we all may find, a place you don't want to go, My only wish is that he graces us with his poetry once again. Title: Re: Weekly poem contest #4 BEGINS NOW Post by: Jas765 on March 16, 2009, 01:16:06 am How didn't I see this last week? :P

Title: Re: Weekly poem contest #6 BEGINS NOW Post by: Legodac on March 29, 2009, 12:42:23 pm Congrats Lionytai for winning WPC #5, cool poem buddy, 3 CSUs for you :)
WPC #6 begins now Title: Re: Weekly poem contest #6 BEGINS NOW Post by: MsRowdyRedhead on March 30, 2009, 01:31:11 am My friend Flipz asked me to write a soliloquy for mines of doom... I'd like to share it here...
The " poem" is contained within... * Cart has just jumped track, DD101 is ok, Treecleaver is presumed lost* OH My Goodness!! … I had a feeling something like this would happen if those boys weren’t careful. I asked them to hold on tight. What are we going to do now? I cannot imagine an LU or an MLN without my friend Treecleaver. I felt a bump, I heard a shout, and then we all were cast about… And now I fear with all my heart, my friend Treecleaver’s fallen out! Our world has changed forever more, But he will remain alive through our lore. A living legend, he surely was… And a great friend to each of us. He was such an honest trader, And a Lego creation innovator. He climbed the ranks from 0 to ten, And favored LU with bricks & pen. His skill was known by everyone, His rep as a master bricker was fairly won. His building star shown bright in LDD Trading posts, ships and even a tree! He was a beta tester for MLN, And he was a legend, even back then. I can’t believe he’s really gone… I don’t know how I’ll carry on… Alas our grand adventure is not what we all wished for. There’ll be a void in LU forever more. We must erect a monument to our fallen friend. His greatness and valor must never be forgotten. All my bricks will go to this endeavor. Who’s with me? Title: Re: Weekly poem contest #6 BEGINS NOW Post by: lionytai on March 30, 2009, 03:49:58 am CSUs are great! they are really rare

Title: Re: Weekly poem contest #7 BEGINS NOW Post by: Legodac on April 05, 2009, 01:26:17 pm The winners for WPC #6 are as follows, MsRR takes 1st for a truly inspiring and well written poem

Friends are a gift, Given from above. They’re there when you need a lift Or when you need a bit of love. Friends come and go. Yet we always remember them. All have friends, new and old, What would the world be without ‘em? Friends can be anyone, Of any gender, race, or age. All they require is someone To truly love through the ages. And that is quite an old poem I wrote long ago. Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #1 Post by: . on July 07, 2009, 04:37:29 pm here is a poem.

Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #2 HAS BEGUN Post by: Flash-әdge on July 28, 2009, 04:38:36 pm Hope of my Heart
As I walked along the streets Many sad things my eyes did meet. I saw the poor, the hungry, the broken All standing there, their hope was choken. I handed out the bags, the food Yet it sometimes seemed that little was understood. So off me, and my team mate, went To show these people what our deeds meant. We spoke, we shared, we told them of Christ They listened, they heard, were given more in life. We listened, we cried, we heard their stories And then we showed them of God's glory. Now as I remember that dark night, I hope and pray to be to them a light. Something experienced on my trip. Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #2 HAS BEGUN Post by: Kritzelei on July 29, 2009, 02:35:53 pm Wow, Flash... that's amazing. Are you a poet or something? Red leaves drifting in the wind Cold air nipping at your face Here comes that time of year again All gather round the table for Grace Bright sun shining in the East Time's are merry, hear the joyful laughs We're all ready for a grand old feast So loosen up your belt by half Another month come by, what shall we see? A baby in a manger, underneath the star Season of love and grace and glee The arrival of the new year not so far Eh, not my best poem... *shrugs* Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #7 I'll be entering this one Post by: Legodac on November 29, 2009, 11:04:24 am I thought it was cool pal, very sweet and heart felt and neet...
My second entry is thus, so get on the bus... I decided at about 3 am this morning that my second entry to 2 of 9's X-prize contest would be my LU treehouse, the entrance that is, I also decided to expand the poem a little, the original is still on my MLN page, behold... The entrance to the Universe There's an entrance, don't you know? To a place, we all must go. Now show us who'll you be, In the Universe, you will see. All our friends are there, so don't despair. This place is for us, so get on the bus! And when you arrive in a place of wonder... Endeavour to strive, take time to ponder No doubt you'll be wowed, In creations so proud, A little brick here and a little brick there soon you will have, the power to dare... So give us a sign, that you will be there just one more rhyme, and you will have a pair.. The pair will arise to build and surprise Can you guess who they are in a Universe, to far. Behold the entrance, carefull though, Billy-Bob is hungry Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #7 I'll be entering this one Post by: Flash-әdge on December 14, 2009, 09:29:52 pm On request of the marvelous host, I'll be posting another poem here:
Remember the Day A time for joy, a season for love Because of one boy, because of Him above A night we remember, a day to give thanks Because of a Savior, because it’s Christmas Day So take time this season, take a moment to spare Remember the reason, acknowledge the heir Relive the glory, relive the day Ponder His story, think of the Way Born in a manger, born in humility He was no stranger, He is family A plan had been made, a plan for our souls The way had been paved, this narrow, eternal road Old Man Winter Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #7 I'll be entering this one Post by: Legodac on December 17, 2009, 07:54:29 am On request of the marvelous host, I'll be posting another poem here: Remember the Day A time for joy, a season for love Because of one boy, because of Him above A night we remember, a day to give thanks Because of a Savior, because it’s Christmas Day So take time this season, take a moment to spare Remember the reason, acknowledge the heir Relive the glory, relive the day Ponder His story, think of the Way Born in a manger, born in humility He was no stranger, He is family A plan had been made, a plan for our souls The way had been paved, this narrow, eternal road Old Man Winter A truly cool poem Flash, maybe one of the best you've ever written. Very nice indeed and heart felt aswell. So I guess this means it's my turn and then we award each other some prizes, not falling for it eh, k, I'm the prize department, well.. You did Christmas as a Saviour born among us to save our souls, I think I'll do one about friends, for they have the ability to save your soul aswell... As I walk and move through this thing we call Life As I endeavour to control a thing we call strife The mistakes I've made The challenges I've met Though I'm still afraid On that you can bet And when that mistake is made We may have to count on a friend When you didn't make the grade A cry for help that you must send The mistakes forgiven By friends so wise make you feel living So once more, we're on the rise So when in doubt, count on a friend There will always be times when you slip For they have the power to mend In those times when you've lost your grip I've been working for nine tenths out of the last 3 days, how good would your poem be? For Flash, you Rock pal, you're poems are the best, which means you win TWO FIRST PRIZES, keep entering pal, maybe the rest of these brickers will join in soon. Poems are fun and a real challenge sometimes, sometimes they may just sound like sunshine, and you'll have yourself something that you can say..."Yeah, I wrote that" and then feel really cool about it. Write a poem eh...next contest begins now Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #7 I'll be entering this one Post by: Flash-әdge on December 17, 2009, 09:32:43 pm Thanks Legodac, and a great poem yourself. I guess that comes from good experience.
Here's a haiku... White snowflakes They drift and they float Upon the wind they flitter Drifting to the ground From the clouds they come to earth Until they melt have away Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #9 I'll be entering this one Post by: Legodac on December 20, 2009, 01:16:29 pm I know I may have asked this before, but could someone please explain what a Haiku is to me please ?
Whatever it is, it looks well written, nice job Flash and thanks for entering again. I sent you 6 CSU's in MLN for your efforts and congrats aswell, I'm so happy you keep entering, I will aswell. To all, please enter, write a poem or 2, you may discover it's not so hard to do and on that note, perhaps I'll say this, you could write a poem, that descibes your bliss For you see that within us all There is a power that yearns to grow And once released, you cannot fall A power un-named, this much I know Now you are asking, what this power could be you wonder too, if it is within you For it's simple you see, to share is to be free So now you see the power of creation, all that's left, is for you to do So share with us what moves you on Fear is an option, that will always be there What dare will you take, for some simple fun so share your creativity, it's your soul you must share I've done better, but hey, it's just some fun...eh ;) BTW, Flash's poem and mine, are both entered in number nine, So share with us a poem devine, this is your chance to show and shine Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #9 I'll be entering this one Post by: Flash-әdge on December 20, 2009, 09:57:04 pm A haiku is a Japanese form of writing. It's a poem of sorts, but under a different structure. Usually having to do with nature, and a certain structure of syllables in each line.
Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #9 I'll be entering this one Post by: Legodac on December 21, 2009, 04:04:56 am Thanks, but I'm still a little fussy on the structure of sylables thing. I wonder if there's a place that would explain it in detail?
Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #9 I'll be entering this one Post by: Flash-әdge on December 21, 2009, 11:48:17 am Kind of like this... the numbers showing how many syllables are needed in each line:'
(1) 3 5 7 (5) (7) (7) The ones in (parentheses) are the ones that are sometimes left out. Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #9 I'll be entering this one Post by: Micah477 on March 10, 2010, 11:18:47 pm Here we go :P
I just logged on It has been so long Almost seems wrong Like pizza in Hong Kong I want to be best So I scan the contests These poems I've studied With all my school buddies They never get old They cannot be sold They may be forgotten But they never turn rotten I then scroll down And my face is a frown Though once filled with joy My mind now bitter as soy I wonder and think Don't bother to blink I wish I could know Why this thing is so Everything is in a mix Oh poor little six Every number got their spot But 6 is dot, dot, dot Cannot it count? This screen on its mount It stares at me so At M-L-N-O My comp is mocking Like coal in a stocking Every number has their spot But six is dot, dot, dot... In other words, I get bugged when pages go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ...,7 I mean, the 6 is even smaller than a "..." =/ *starts throwing things* anyways, yeah, that's my entry, I guess. Title: Re: The legodac bi-monthly poem contest #9 I'll be entering this one Post by: Legodac on April 10, 2010, 06:53:57 am WOW, a truly original poem Micah, thanks for entering.
As you can see, I'm back, though I won't be on every day, I will endevour to get here on MLNO a few times a week. So let's carry on with the poem contest, who has one that they would like to submit in competition to Micah's, I know he won't mind that I'm late, so we'll run the contest to the end of April, then get back on track after that with the bi-monthly format. Or how about the end of December 2011? ;) What do you MLNOers think? Shall we have a poem show down to celebrate Christmas, the new year and all our time together? Seems we have a lot of creative people here and I for one, would like to revive this contest in the new year. For now though, how do YOU feel about sharing a poem to celebrate whatever it is that makes you happy? :) As promised, (and only the Lego God knows how I found this) we need a new poem contest and as you can see from the prior post, I'm right on schedule. To make a long story short, look at my new signature, I have chosen 4 pics and then added a rhyme to suit each one in consecutive order. The challenge or NEW FORUM GAME is this... First person (likely me) chooses 4 pictures and then posts them, next poster then makes up a rhyme to suit the four pictures, when that task is complete, that person now has an option to offer 4 pictures to be rhymed or they may do the opposite, offer a 4 line rhyme that must be answered with four pictures. Complicated, time consuming, certainly not effortless eh. This is a prototype post, what do you think MERGED TRIPLE POST - The Truth |
