IC: "Ummm.. thank... you?" she said having hoped she used the right phrase to express her gratitude. She didn't know what a fork was, having never used one before, so she used her fingers on her non bloody hand to pick up the cut pieces and eat them. She liked it, it had more flavor than the stuff she used to dig up, and soon enough she began to eat it at a normal pace.
