Sure; it's not an 8 gig super computer, but really, as long as it can run games comfortably, then I'm going to be rather happy with it. I can upgrade it from there as I can afford it. =P

Planet Blade. =P There's only one computer that has 8 GB of RAM that I've personally seen, and it's not exactly the best to judge off, since it has things going wrong sometimes, and I've never actually tested anything on it. =P I get your point, though. I've just never personally seen anything beyond that. -_-;

Can you get 8GB RAM chips, though? I'm technically not sure of the upper limits of what 32 bit allows, so I'm kinda hoping that it's a good sized amount, instead of like 4 GB or so.

While 4gb is technically the most ram 32 bit can handle, most x86 32 bit systems can only recognise 3.5 gb total.

Also, I have no clue which graphics card I have, but I think I know why this can't run Minecraft Classic yet(Aside from the obvious 'OpenGL is broken on my computer')... It's got a Radeon X700 Pro.

Despite that, it'll be able to run Portal, if it doesn't require OpenGL for everything, or OpenGL decides to work. =P

Don't ask me why OpenGL won't work; I'm asking myself the same thing. No drivers for the OS for my graphics card, though. =/

There's a program everyone should have, called speccy, made by priform. Free download. Tells you everything you need to know about your computer. Figure out what your GPU in each computer is, than punch them into http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ to compare. Its very possible your laptop may have a better gpu but a weaker CPU. Good news, in that case, is that you can upgrade a desktop's GPU.

Also, reason #952 why AMD/ATI chips suck: incompatibility with basic standards.

It's got two 3 GHz Pentium 4(It says that, but I'm suspicious that it's better) CPUs, according to the properties menu, and the fact that I see two identical CPUs in the Device Mangler. =P And I know my GPU; ATI Radeon x700 Pro. I don't think it's PCI-E; though I could be wrong. Either way, it's a 2004/2005 card. =/

Going off of my research, it seems to be based on the home system. I have Windows 7 Home Premium, which allows 8GB. Further versions of W7 allow 16 and 192 Gigs of RAM.

you would need a 64 bit CPU to use the 64 bit version of windows tho. and you would need a motherboard that supported that much ram, and while they exist, they aint cheap =P
