Canama's denying the existence of it because of how bad the PC port of it is, according to Canama.

Aha. Sarcasm doesn't work for me when its typed.
Besides, IW was a pretty good game, and I am talking about the PC version.

66946

Well, yeah it was an awful PC port, but that's actually a little bit forgivable. More to the point, it was an awful game. (Or at least the first couple hours were, I wasn't able to take any more than that and so I uninstalled.) In Deus Ex, you always felt focused. I felt like, from start to finish, that I was in a world that was bigger than I could imagine, and all throughout the game I felt like I was advancing the plot.

In IW I spent three hours doing sidequests for random jerks standing in the middle of "Seattle". (Which doesn't look much like a city at all, let alone Seattle.) The game was unfocused, and generally unfun; it honestly almost felt like a single player MMO (i.e. running around doing pointless stuff like going here and killing x of y - not like DX, where your objectives felt like they mattered), and I don't like MMOs. I already had an augmentation in every slot. What happened to making us work for them? In DX I didn't fill in my final slot until about midgame, in Versalife. The universal ammo system was nothing short of retarded, and weapons consumed too much ammo while enemies dropped too little - and if you ran out of ammo for one weapon, you ran out for all of them.

Wait, what were the last two paragraphs about? What's IW? Never mind.

On the subject of games that are awesome, though, Black Mesa. Full stop.

Yes, the first part was supposed to be confusing. Once Alex finds out what's going on, the story becomes more straightforward. I thought the Coffee wars ministory was quite interesting, and some of the level design was very good. I would agree that the ammo system was retarded, and it was dumbed down so it would run on consoles (which had less memory and processing power back then). However, replaying and searching everywhere for the super-secret weapons was a lot of fun. Also, the political commentary is interesting.

And yes, Black Mesa is awesome.

Had it actually existed, it wouldn't have been confusing, merely pointless, futile, grindy, and generally aggravating. Killing a greasel and shooting a couple dudes in the face for no explained reason won't get you anywhere. Fortunately there is no such thing as that game, and this is all theoretical.
