So, I used that little trick I talked about before...and guess what?  I managed to get a female Mudkip!  AND there was a hiccup--that standard business about "The save file is corrupted" that forces me to save twice any time I want to save--which means (I think) that it ended up cloned--one on my save, one on the other.  It's awesome. Grin
