Because of the Movie Arceus. It's just showing off the Hiker that gives a Flame Plate, and the Canalave thing is for Lucian I think, from what I read on the Article on Bulbapedia's Talk page. See, I think having an Arceus unlocks the Hiker and possibly Lucian(Though I'm wondering if that's just by beating the E4 the first time, though I think I went through that and didn't see all what I read on SPPf...)
But the HGSS stuff was interesting... Plus the fact that that Pokeball thing is this game's new Starter Select thing from the looks of it. And the Touchscreen Menu looks epic, though I hope you can access it by touching the touch screen only...
/EDIT: Serebii's new page confirms it's not Lucian, but instead the Hiker again.
