it may have been the best in RBY...

but yeah, Infernape basically destroyed every other fire type pokemon's hope of being used, since it's fast and powerful, and can be used physically or specially. If Blaziken recieves a big enough speed boost, then it can compete with Infernape, otherwise nothing else comes close.

@RP-yeah,Infernape is a good one. And also,Fortress is good,but against a Sweeper with a decent Fire move=buh-bye.

infernapes are lot more balanced.  i have 1 in my pt, it can't defeat defensive pokemon. arcinine is more balanced.

I've seen videos on where Fire Fang can get past Wonder Guard Spiritomb and Sableye despite the fact that they don't have any weaknesses.

I have the right Pokemon for breeding for Blissey, but I'm too lazy to do it now.

Yeah, but from the sounds of it, unless the guy using Fire Fang was a hacker as well, it wasn't him who was a hacker, though Fire Fang piercing Wonder Guard when the Pokemon doesn't have any weaknesses is a little suspicious...

Wonder Guard is a unique ability, so it probably is coded so that only fire, dark etc moves affect the pokemon with WG(the only case is Shed).

Currently breeding for an adamant/jolly shroomish. Is poison Heal better than Effect Spore?

well, I've just started playing Platinum...and I have no dea what to do with my Technical Machines...Also, why can't I use Abra's teleport on the field?  (I just entered the flower town, I already have the first Gym Badge.)

yeah. umm, Technical Machines are one use items that teach a pokemon an attack. You can only use each one once, so don't use them randomly.

And Abra's teleport I don't know about...

Yay for getting the first badge. Who'd you start out with, and what pokemon do you have?

Have you healed at a Pokemon center? Teleport takes you back to the last Pokemon Center you healed at. Congrats on getting an Abra early on, it's hard to get one with their Teleport.

Thanks--really, I just got lucky-one of the NPCs wanted to trade me her Abra for a Shinx.

I started out with Turtwig, and now I am past the second gym.  Any tips on hatching the Pokemon Egg I just got?

To hatch eggs faster, you can get a Slugma, as both its abilities hatch eggs faster.

However, you can't obtain it at this point unless you trade with a friend.

So do as Blade said: walk around a lot, preferably the Cycling Road.

aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnd... I lost to Argenta... to about the most annoying pokemon ever: Shuckle. I was so mad. I would have won, if it weren't for a critical hit from Rollout... I was waiting for the Sand Storm to die down to reduce its SpDef and then destroy it and Shuckle got a critical hit...

and then I went back to try again, and on my 19th battle I met a Heatran that knew Magma Storm, which actually hit...

Tri Attack is my main attack, and usually deals with everything in one move. Recovery's there to keep me alive in a long battle(like against Argenta), and Nasty Plot is there to boost SpAtk if needed. Discharge is an attack that it learns naturally to cover ghosts, steel and rock types that are unnafected/resist T-Atk.
