Have you finished the Tutorial yet? There's a Side Bar saying Zones, and click on it, you'll see your current zone. Click on the small arrows above or below and you should get your zone.

From what I hear, the gameplay's the same, but the graphics aren't, but I dunno yet, since I'm still waiting for a decision on the teams...

DEfinitely gameplay is the same. Except for a change in what you see in the shop and certain parts in the race.
Graphics changed a whole lot.
