OOC: I'll take this as no questions. =P
-==IC: Kazuki==-
Seeing as only crickets chirped a reply to Kazuki, he awkwardly cleared his throat, and scratched his head. "Right; uh; no questions. Okay then." Kazuki said, as he adjusted the papers in his hands. "I think you already realized this; but you weren't the first Chosen Ones. There was a group before you, a group that was the basis for the name. We were literally chosen for the task; based off previous... experience, shall we say. It was supposed to be good; it was supposed to help people, supposed to influence future generations to bring peace to the world. But... Something went wrong." Kazuki cryptically said, and paused for a moment.
"Right, getting ahead of myself. If you couldn't guess from that just now; Ki is not some mysterious 'force' people randomly get. It might seem like that, but it's more complicated than that. See, many years ago, scientists discovered a special 'property' to specific stones in this area. You know one of them; the Ki Metal we've been using for the armour modules, and for the weapons we wield. There are more, but it's not as important for us. Anyway, the Ki Metal was unique in it's property to effectively transfer energy through it, and even generate it at times. It even changed it's form based on some situations; which I used as the basis for the prototype armour before it was finished. Well, the scientists went further than that. By turning it into a serum, and administering it properly to an individual, it was noticed to grant them spectacular powers... Our powers. It essentially rewrote parts of the DNA coding to give you the ability to absorb and otherwise manipulate energy; while keeping the essential coding needed for life. There are other powers; you know of one of them as the Chaos Hunter's enhanced skills. Children inherit these abilities; though we never knew that until Dawn actually unlocked her own powers." Kazuki explained, and sighed.
"That said, certain combinations of powers, in certain people, had an effect on the balance of their bodies and minds, causing them to effectively become feral and heavily damage their bodies. This caused a very bad incident when it was discovered, which ruined some of the reputation of the project, and caused only 'pure' variations of the powers to be used. It also personally affected some people close to me; though some of the people managed to be cured..." Kazuki said, pausing with a large frown on his face.
"Neo... He was involved in that in two ways. One of the ways... Was because he himself was afflicted with the side effect. It would've gone well, if a trigger hadn't set him off; but..." Kazuki adjusted the papers once again. "This city used to take up the entire desert region. It was the biggest technological site in the world for a long while. However, when Neo was starting to go insane due to the powers going out of control, I had to fight him, to protect those I cared about. The fight's side-effects, caused a massive chunk of the city to effectively be vaporized, which is why the desert region is so unbalanced in terms of shape. I suspect the continued state of it being desert, is remnants of the energy causing it to stay 'heated', so to speak. Maybe it might eventually be fixed, but there's no guarantee, honestly. After the fight; we were both alive, however, for his own protection, he had to have his powers removed, except for the Chaos Enhancements. I don't know why, but those never were unstable..." Kazuki explained, and sighed.
"We kept the truth from him, though the actual knowledge of him having the powers had been erased from his mind by the powers themselves; however, he always knew something was wrong, and kept the knowledge of what started him going out of control in the first place... He never forgot about that; and I don't think it would be an overstatement to say that it caused the entire problem we're facing now... It's rather saddening to me, however, to think that this whole war is over a misunderstanding, though..." Kazuki said, as he closed his eyes.
"In the midst of the war, however, Terakou began to be overrun... So, I sent my wife and her three kids to safety. Obviously, the children didn't stay in safety, but it's a good thing they didn't, since they have helped a lot." Kazuki said, as he looked over at Dawn and Kaze; Haley having infiltrated the Chaos Hunter ranks once more by that point. "One regret, however, is that once the war died down, we all decided it would be best if everyone split up... Leaving Kaze and Haley on their own for a good while; being looked after by my brother for a while. I really do wish that we hadn't been forced to that, since the two grew up never knowing their parents for the most part." Kazuki explained, though Kaze was a little confused on that point; he recalled that his uncle had vanished when he was 12, so he wasn't sure what Kazuki meant by that.
"Any questions now?" Kazuki asked, as he sat down in his chair, weary from reliving the memories that were obviously painful to him.
