Hmm... I'm debating on whether to tell you that they do that with pretty much every shop since Gen 3. =P Every time you buy 10 Pokeballs at once, you get a premier ball. =)

No, it was one of the "features" I absolutely LOATHED about FireRed: the trainers were absurdly tough for the cash they gave out, and I couldn't buy 10 Pokeballs at once to get a Premiere Ball.  It led to several LONG strings of Vs. Seeker abuse at certain points.

I need a pokemon I can catch up to this point that can handle Cut, Rock Smash, and Strength, with Flash being a nice bonus if possible.

*Male Level 7 Abra (Ultra Ball) (Got the UB from my Zigzagoon's Pickup)

Oh, well yeah, that would be bad. I guess it's partly since FireRed is a remake that more or less stayed true to it's source material for the main game. =P

As for the Pokemon, try Zigzagoon.

It's a Quiet Abra.   Not quite as good as Modest, but since a.) these are only in-game and b.) pretty much all of my good Pokemon have a Speed-inhibiting Nature anyway, I'm not too fussed.

So, which Ralts should I trade off for my Seedot, my Calm male with Trace or my Hasty male with Synchronize?

Trace. Although Hasty isn't probably the best ability to try and get, you never know when Syncers will come in handy. =P

OK, I've set up a Zigzagoon to be my HM slave, and I'll trade off TraceRalts for Dots the Seedot.

EDIT: So I walk into the lower level of Granite Cave, looking for an Aron next to the exit ladder.  Guess what I find?  That's right.  A female Sableye.  guess what I find next?  A female, Level 11 Aron.  Then, on the way out, I get a female Geodude.  I can breed like 90% of the Pokemon I've found so far, it's awesome!

True, but I can get them BEFORE Final 4 now.  It's the same reason I'm so excited about female Pokemon.

As long as they don't ban Toxicroak/Drizztoed, I'm happy.  I looked at those two and instantly knew they were the perfect combo for a team.

Also, what is this "Team Preview" thing ZLS mentioned earlier?

EDIT: Hehehe...I think the Pokemon team were thinking about Triples in emerald, but decided not to put it in.  I just got challenged by 2 trainers at once, followed by a third one the moment that one was through.

Well, again, the bans are only if you play competitively against people on other sites.

And Team Preview is where you select which order your Pokemon go in(Like when you enter the Battle Tower or so). While you do so, and while your opponent does so, you get to see each other's teams. Not view summaries, but see what Pokemon they have.

Huh.  That's odd.  I guess it's only fair, though; we've been doing it to Gym Leaders and other in-game Trainers via Bulbapedia and other sites pretty much since the internet was invented, so it's only fair that we have to face that particular disadvantage ourselves...

In other news, I just won a Battle Factory-style thing in the Battle Tent at Slateport.  My rental team: Breloom, Golbat, Electrike.

OK, Hoenn is officially my favorite Pokemon region ever. 

Hoenn is the best, I agree.

And yeah, Team Preview is what Blade said. It ruins the role of the lead pokemon, because if people see your team they'll guess as to a lead pokemon (like Azelf), so leads are not common anymore. It does add one more elemnet to the game, because you have to try to get the best possible matchup.

I never understood why Excadrill was such a problem. Probably because I don't play competitively. But these days, people seem to have a weather starter of their own, so switching the weather beats Excadrill. Also, Mach Punch (from Conkeldurr for example) hits super effectively.
What would make more sense is to send all weather starters to Uber, and keep OU as a weather free zone, or have a seperate OU for weather free battles.
Landorus and Terrakion are still strong in sand, and Tyranitar will always be strong. Garchomp without sandstorm isn't that amazing. He's fast and strong, but without a 20% chance to miss him all the time he'd be just another 4x ice weak dragon.

those are just my thoughts, though. Smogon seems to be very ban-happy lately.

One thing about Team preview, though... It doesn't show you what order the people pick, so there is still a guessing game involved. Just not with what Pokemon your opponents have. =P

OK, it's time to set up my Emerald team.  I've been doing alright with neutral-hitting attacks since I have a couple of overleveled Pokemon, but now that I'm at Mauville I need to balance my team.  (For the record, I plan to challenge the gym, but only after I've got my hands on a decent, well-trained Ground type.)

EDIT: I should mention, I now have my Level 22 Kirlia with Growl, Confusion, Calm Mind, and Teleport (the last of which I'm not getting rid of, as it's quite convenient.)  Grovyle is also in the low 20s, but everything else I have is around Level 14.  The only available Pokemon up to this point that I don't have are Plusle and possibly Wailmer, since I haven't been fishing in a while.  (I haven't gone onto any of the routes out of Mauville yet, I'm woried about the Trainers wiping the floor with me.)

I need to kill the electric-type gym, then set up a real team to take on the second half of the game.  From what I can tell, Geodude is the only Ground-type I can get until after the gym (laaaaaame), and Electrike is the only Electric-type other than Plusle/Minun (which really aren't that great) that I can get for quite some time.  So really, I have no clue what I should set up. 

Keep in mind, my starter is Treecko, which is now Grovyle (moves: Hyper Cutter/Pursuit/Absorb/Quick Attack).  I have a Kirlia (Modest) with Growl/Confusion/Calm Mind/Teleport, and a Level 16 Wingull with Growl/Water Gun/Wing Attack/Mist.  I also have a...actually, I'll post the rest of my list in a second.

Confusion the Electric to death. That or train the Kirlia up a couple more levels then confusion it to death(Or use Psychic if you get it when leveling. =P)

Eh, I managed to Magnitude them to death.  Geodude actually levels up fairly fast below the cycling road.  She's now Level 22 (well, 23 when I smash through the tunnel between Verdanturf and the other route).  I think I need to level an Electrike (I managed to get a couple of females while I was leveling Geodude) to deal with the flying-types, and if I can level Shroomish a bit I'll have a workable Fighting-type.  Taillow grows fast, so that'll be my Flying-type.  The only bad thing is that I'll only have one Zigzagoon now (my Level 3 HM slave), so I'll get fewer free items.  Maybe I should level the little guy as well.

On a completely different note, apparently Nintendo has registered a domain name/website url thing in the form of:
pokemongray.com. The site is by the same domain name people that made pokemonblackwhite.com.

This pretty much guarantees pokemon gray (which was already pretty much guaranteed). The only noteworthy thing here is the spelling of gray vs grey. Nintendo has chosen Gray as the spelling, not choosing the e.

I like the e spelling better, but at least the third version is all but confirmed now.
